Oscar-winning actor Ralph Fiennes, acclaimed for his roles in Schindler's List and The English Patient, is one of six children. His mother, Jennifer Lash, who died in 1993, was a writer. Her last novel, Blood Ties, is a powerful, often harrowing account of the damage a careless and unstable mother can unwittingly wreak upon a child. Lash herself had an unhappy, distressed childhood, which included being certified insane, and she was determined that she would provide a nurturing environment for her own children. In the 1960s, she gave up a promising career as a novelist to devote herself to raising her large family of four sons, two daughters and a foster son. In Blood Ties, the figure of Violet Farr, the unbending, distant and unwilling matriarch, is drawn from Jennifer's own mother, while the pain and isolation of the love-starved child, Spencer, mirrors that of Mick, the withdrawn, troubled foster son she took on.

Happy big family, wonderful parents, brothers and sisters of Ralph Fiennes. So good memories in this documentary film about the Ralph´s Mother Jennifer Lash. All family members are so talent humans. It´s really wonderful.
I'm so glad I saw this portrait of Jennifer Lash and her family. It resonates with me to the core, by that I mean the absence of love deprives a child of the most fundamental need in life. That rejection is so powerful that your whole being is reduced unless you have the courage of what Jennie Lash di at sixteen and asserted that she did not have to repeat the cold environment that she was brought up in, as so many are and set about as an individual she was going to love entirely warts and all. What a journey that liberated her children to live in the real world and still have love at it's core. You can see that in the grown up children and the way they speak about her and their lives together. Its their hands on the shovel digging into the earth, that is the image that come to my mind seeing her hands on that shovel, on a blade of grass, living in the faces she photographed. It's a whole families journey with a guiding light, human, very human and earthed. What a woman.
She was a wonderful woman to cope with 7 children and try to do some thing for her self she was an angel 😇 to do all that xx

I know how devestating it can feel to have a book rejected in which you poured your heart and your soal, a book, that is not just a book, but a living thing, something so personal and important. The book becomes the person who wrote it an in this case the rejection of the book becomes the rejection of the person. This becomes then an opportunity to work on oneself, finding out, that the Story itself it not the Beeing or creator, because the creator is "Spirit", thoughts are spirit and always free. The manifestations lead us astray, become chains, false Gods.
It took me a few painful years of awakening and self work to realize this. Now I write, because I love to write, without hoping for a specific reaction. I just do it because it feels right. The letting go of expectations can then bring the right ressonance and if the feeling is right, the resonance will be positive.

Thank you for uploading this documentary! I appreciate it very much, since I missed it when it was aired on TV over 2 decades ago. This footage offers more insight into the Fiennes's than any typical interview could do. As much as I liked "Chromophobia", "Onegin" is in my opinion Martha's and Ralph's best collaboration. What a fascinating family!
