I grew a LOT of food on ,1/4 acre then we moved to one acre. I could do rotation grazing for my pigs plus garden and orchard dairy goats chickens geese turkeys peacocks and room to spare. at one point we had 6 llamas out there another time two horses.
This is a great use of space. I love the designated areas. Everything is so neat and tidy. That is a lot of food production on just a mere ACRE! People with five or ten acres think that they don’t have enough room and yet here you are creating this cornucopia of plenty on just ONE!
Great setup. Debt free is the new, american dream. I can't homeschool my kids though. I'm looking forward to some quiet time next Monday when they go back to school
You don't have to homeschool to become debt free, in fact it may be easier not to since you would then be able to work. It was just a personal choice for us to homeschool.
Impressive that this is all done on 1 acre. My wife and I have looking at property to buy, and many of the lots are 1-1.5 acres. This video helped me realize what will fit!
Hi Blue Maximus, we'd love for you to check properties. You can visit our website at www.landelevated.com and our channel to learn more. Just if you're interested, we have up to 40 acres of vacant land. Thanks! :)
You have the most aesthetically pleasing homestead I've seen. I'd be proud of the place even if it didn't have animals, etc.. It feels spacious and easy to move about. I know I'm going on, but it should be in a magazine. Mother Earth or Grit, or another one would be great to have full color pictures and a diagram of the layout. Only thing I'd add would be a pavilion with outdoor cooking space to entertain or process food in the shade. Please keep sharing. It's inspiring to see a productive place with a neat, upscale look.
Thank you so much, what a lovely compliment! We do like order and neatness. The outdoor cooking space sounds like a dream! We are in the process of building a new homestead on 20 acres, and an outdoor processing area, and an outdoor cooking/pizza/bread oven are all in our plans!
@@GoodSimpleLivingIf you put in a sink and stove you could do your canning and scalding, too. I'm always on the lookout for used commercial stainless sinks and counters. It would be nice to have something that you can sanitize and use for anything from crafts to laundry to homesteading (like potting plants) and entertaining a crowd outdoors comfortably. If your next homestead is half as nice as this one, you'll be doing well.
Love love your land. BTE is my fav. Your landscape is so clean and manicured and organized. SO many I see is so jumbled together. Well kept. Can't wait to see what you will do with your 20 acres
A family of 4 can actually be completely self sufficient for food and energy on 2 acres, so it's not surprising how much they've been able to do with 1. Plan well and tend your land, and it will give back much more.
I was wondering why you need either the 5 acres behind you, or the 20 in Idaho to feel fulfilled? Your acre there is better than both! Tks for the share.
There is a lot more to our dream than just growing a garden. We want freedom to live as we please in a place where our kids can stay and build. On our 20 acres in ID they can build their own houses if they want. There we can build something to leave to our kids and grandkids, here we can't.
Gorgeous! I love the way you guys seemed to keep 'aesthetics' in mind. You have the real FARM stuff (animals) behind a 'Natural' hedge so anything 'messy' is out of view and your LAWN BEDS look like they are APART of the lawn! Outstanding, the organization I see here! Chile, if I was your neighbor I'd be sitting in your backyard ALL THE TIME, seems so 'peaceful'! You'd be like, "Ms. Byrd, you need to go home now." lol
Wow i was wondering what one acre looks like visually , i know the numbers but i just couldnt picture it . your homestead is beautiful and i love the secret area where people cant see the animals . this is the perfect design so neat and clean and very pleasing on the eyes. Thanks for sharing your space👍 you gave me some great ideas for my future homestead.
Awesome, so glad. Yeah if you have a purpose and place for everything then it really is a lot of space. As you can see we still have a lot of space left. We keep it this way so we can tractor raise animals, but you could put up a large green house, and grow about 10 times the veggies we do.
Im currently looking for as close to two acres as possible in NC , from what i see on your land i definitely would have alot of options including a large greenhouse. As soon as i seen your property i was thinking this is how i want my space to look , you have everything very well put together. Please do a tour or walk through when your garde is in full bloom 👍
It's amazing what can be done on 1 acre, well done! At my previous home we lived in a small city, and I turned my side yard into an urban garden. Why cut grass when you can produce food?!? It was only approx. 30'x40' but using high intensity methods of planting, the yield in that small space was astronomical. We ended up sharing the majority of the harvest since I had no space to can/preserve beyond eating fresh and sharing with all of the neighbors. Having gardened on true acreage when I was growing up, my experience with the highly productive urban garden, I'm very excited for the 1.73 acres that I'm currently developing into a homestead! Most people think you need huge acres to be self sustainable, but that's simply not the case!
We bought one acre and put a home on it a year ago. I'm now researching homesteading possibilities for our property. I wasn't sure if we had enough land but your video gave me hope that we do! Spending my winter reading and planning so we can get the ball moving for spring!
Wow. Thank you so much for showing your beautiful land. I'm looking to start my own homestead with my family for the first time and people kept telling me I needed way more to do this and more and I see now after all this time that I don't need that. I can now start over and look for 1 acre properties and not over 2. Thank you so much. Blessings.
This is amazing. We have ten acres ourselves but aren't really able to do this much because nearly the entire property is dense forest (which I'm not complaining about because it's beautiful), but I still grow my own chili peppers for powder, hot sauces, and other things because the quality is better than store bought and it's easy to breed your own varieties to match your own preference
Thanks for reminding me sometimes unanswered prayer is a blessing. Goes right with not getting upset about being late getting somewhere...one time I saw I would have been in a major pile up if I had been on time. Your place is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful place. Looks bigger than an acre. Loved your kids hat! I have a half acre and have been trying to downsize some of the work. Taking out some fruit trees, removing some blueberries. One thing you might really like is thornless blackberries. Easy to grow and produce like crazy.
Good Simple Living yes, I tried them for a decade and never could get them to do well here because of soil ph. I’m on eastern side of Washington State. Blackberries and raspberries thrive along with all veggies. I do eat blueberries almost daily tho, love them. Thanks again

With the exception of wanting to also add bees, your homestead sounds almost identical to what we're working on (the chickens, rabbits, even God's plans trumping our own)!
It is good to see how much land that is. I think I would like 2 acres one day. You have a beautiful piece of property. The animals look well cared for.
