The Hobie Lynx hull has an issue cracking in rocky rivers. I know of four personally that have sustained cracks in shallow rivers and creeks. The inflatable is much more durable in shallow rocky areas. I have an Itrek and I take it places I wouldn’t take a Lynx.
I could see that. It is very hard and abrasion resistant, but likely not impact resistant. I could see it crack if it fell of trailer during loading. That might be similar impact to river rock. I love the Lynx, but that might be a less foreseen concern to take into consideration. Rotomolding has a bit more flex and bounces but is soft and scratches. Acetec seems more rigid yet abrasion resistant. Inflatable is possibly less puncture resistant but bounces off of nearly everything.
I’m a big Mirage drive fan! I fish in a lot of weeds, grass, pads in NY and in FL I’m in very shallow water but almost never have to pull my drive.
I also love how Hobie stands behind their product. I broke my 2019 drive last year being an idiot & they replaced the whole spline for me-for free.
I don’t like the wiggling of the first Bote drive. That looks really tiring.
It’s interesting that the inflatable wasn’t drastically faster than the Lynx!
Great tips for viewers....I agree that mirage drive excels in weedy waters.
The ability to feather the mirage drive in shallow water is an awesome feature. And Hobie always has great seats that can be used as beach or fireside chairs.
Being able to pedal instantly in reverse is arguably also a useful feature. Don’t get me wrong…I like Hobie. I have bought $25000 worth recently. However, I have no brand loyalty. I like what I like and I share it 😊
Excellent video! One question, is there any slight wiggling on either of the Rackhams drives?
It isn’t “rock” solid. In hindsight I would say It has some play/wiggling, but I wasn’t thinking about it when pedaling. I would say it doesn’t seem like any more noticeable wiggling than the Hobie drives have. Basically, it didn’t grab my attention. Hope that makes sense.
Whats the weight Capacity.
In quite waters looks nice. I like the external cabling!!! Since this is inflatable can't "married" with hooks and fishing...
I like external cabling as well.
How much is the solid one?
I can’t even find it on the site.
They didn't seem to have a set price yet....I asked. It is still in prototype phase so they are not listed on the website yet. I has asked for approximate price point and the representative didn't have one yet.
you stated this was an inflatable. does it come with a pump? manual or electric? how fast and/or easy is it to pump up?
On average inflatables this size take me 3 minutes to manually pump. I usually use an electric pump that attaches to cigarette adapter in vehicle….fast and easy. I own a few inflatable water crafts as well as an inflatable 10x10 BOTE dock and chairs.
So BOTE vs Hobie itrek. Drive aside, which do you trust more to last? One TH-camr said he thought the itrek inflatable was a downgrade from the i11s because it was more prone to pinholes. Hobie drive is superior. But what about the inflatable vs inflatable portion. Minute drive and Rutter
I think the Hobie Lynx is easier to customize. You can put storage under the Hobie seat. And for where I fish fins are far superior because of grass and hydrilla.
I agree
@@TheFishingMommy for some reason I thought I had subscribed to your channel already. Well I did now. Have a great day.

How does the weight compare to a Lynx? Interested in price as well since the Lynx is $2999, if it is cheaper maybe this will put some pressure on Hobie to come down on their price
BOTE Rackham aero pedal definitely has to weigh less than the Lynx. I also imagine the BOTE Rackham solid board to be lighter or close to Lynx. The rep didn’t provide a price when I asked. BOTE rep said some things are subject to possible changes since it is prototype. For the Rackham aero I imagine similar price to Lono Aero apex pedal or less. For Rackham solid I imagine similar to standard Rackham + estimates price of drive. These are all just guesses. Time will tell. However, truly awesome performance….I was shocked how it stacked up against Lynx.
@@KayakDIY Thanks. This hybrid kayak/SUP is intriguing. Cannot be swamped, no hull to fill with water. No my debate is between a rigid hull and an inflatable. Gatorshell vs Aero, Lynx vs. iTrek11.
The Hobie. With the addition of H rails and certain accessories it can be a dedicated fishing platform. The pedal Botes don’t appear (to me) to be.
Bote should marry the Apex drive with a Pinion gear (mountain bike bottom bracket )system

That Lynx bruises easily.
Speed is OVERERATED. Nobody fishes fast. Very few travel fast. Hobie should make a 10' long 40" wide lynx. Nobody needs 2' of NOSE. Width is functional. Native Propel used to make a 10' x 38" prop driven.... I loved it. Never needed more speed. The prop drive crapped out in less than a year. Native backed out of their "lifetime" warranty. I switched to Hobbie. I've had the Revo 11'. Functional but a bit slim at 34" wide. Then had the Compass. 36" wide but 12' is a bit much. I moved to Thailand. I want a Lynx but have no idea how to get one shipped here plus dealing with tariff taxes?
Bote.... The definition of overhype
They didn’t overhype it…I maybe did. They didn’t pay me either. I earn commission on all brands of paddlecrafts. That is how I stay non-bias. I have no incentive to push one brand or another. I just really digged the speed, efficiency, and maneuverability of the BOTE Rackham Apex PD. It very closely competed with my other favorite pedal kayak on the market, Hobie Lynx. I just let viewers decide. I don’t push people in any direction. 😊👊
