I'm an industrial electrician and metal is not an option. I wear a blue srpg, I love it. Resin case and silicone band makes it electra-safe enough that I haven't been pinged for wearing it even with the obviously metal crown and buckle. I have a "nicer" self winder for other occasions but find myself wearing the srpg all the time except when in a suit.
These resin Seiko 5s were only released for the Oceania market as a limited run model for some ocean awareness. The resin cases were made from recycled ocean plastics or something. It was not produced to take on the Moonswatch, Seiko already made one of these resin models a year or so ago just for the Chinese market even before Moonswatch was a thing.
I really wish I ordered one of these. They were super cheap when they came out. I had an Aussie friend that could have shipped one out. Would have loved the Green. Super unique and cool.
I was never keen on that off white colour of the cases but then i saw there was an all grey version and prompty bought one for less than £100. I like it very much, something a bit different for my collection. The rubber strap is excellent and my only complaint is the lack of a 2nd keeper which will be rectified very soon.
Are you posting from Australia? Fortunately this plastic watch seems not be available elsewhere.. 😆 (can't find it in Italy/Europe). Is that a special edition for your country?
I'm not against making lower-end versions of watches with lesser materials, but those lesser materials should result in a lesser price as well. These just don't make sense to me.
Spot on. They needed a moonswatch like watch. This is good enough. It's not amazing. But it's good enough for a good sportswatch until someone makes something as light for the price. Are there others in this resin or plastic category of automatic sports/beach/exercise watches you like that are similar? The Moonswatch is too much of a toy. This feels better quality.
What has Seiko done here! Cannot find the watch on their website. That says something I guess. And 18 mm strap and screwed caseback... For the money, I buy several Casio's with same specs. Cannot remember that Seiko made a mistake like this ....
I like the idea, but the ivory colour of the case is a bit vanilla! Also they're quite expensive. I'd like to see blue, red, grey, etc, cases. Thanks for the review.
Utter rubbish at the price they are asking. Timex as an example ofter way more for the money. You could even get a Citizen Eco drive for this price point, or a Casio G-shock
Awfully finished lint magnet at an insulting price. If it was 50 quid I'd still hesitate. A few months of grim and I bet these will look terrible. Got excited by the thumbnail but on closer inspection it's a 'hell no' from me. I'm really glad I wasn't able to get my hands on a 'moonswatch' either. I was all onboard the hype train until I got a closer look. Their lack of availability saved me some money.

I don't have bias with resin case watch, so I love it.

I like them to be honest. People moaning about the price but Seiko’s usually start selling between £50 - £80 less than RRP after a while on the net.

Yes, in Australia mate...as I understand, they were made for the Chinese market & some stock made it over here
Is the strap removable?
Between this and the Alba which one is better?
I don't have experience with the Alba unfortunately but this was ok in my opinion...it's light and waterproof....just don't expect too much from it

Yes. I think at the price point they are at it's a difficult proposition...in saying that. They are around $250 AUD @Starbuy
Couldn't be happier with mine.

Hi there Ben, there aren't any that I am aware of other than G-Shock.
Have 2 them nice and light to wear have the 4r36 movement good watches.
It's a bummer because the dials and case size could work really well for a 5kx

Если есть владельцы, поделитесь как насчёт прочности корпуса этих часов.

You can find them for half the rrp now, definitely worth it imo
I like it!
thank you
I'd like for Seiko to offer this watch in Stainless Steel. 😂😉
Good idea, but the price…
Yes, true
Utter rubbish at the price they are asking. Timex as an example ofter way more for the money. You could even get a Citizen Eco drive for this price point, or a Casio G-shock
I don't disagree!
The watch is too expensive. Its a no for me

I hear you mate!
I paid 130 usd for this
It is 80usd on China now, and I gonna buy the green one😍
They’re horrible in every single way. I did a review and they’re put together worse than an Ali express moon swatch copy and has the sound to match.
Seiko have destroyed their iconic SKX range.
No this is rubbish. Seiko has made the wrong move.
It's just an odd watch isnt it?
Just does not add up. It’s simply plastic and asked for so much price. Such a bad move.
thanks i hate it
Looks like something you’d find in a box of Cracker Jacks. Junk!
This is worthless. Should cost the same as a FlikFlak
Hahaha flik flak....havent heard them mentioned in a while
