Sorry- Cillian Murphy movie
Can you elaborate his incredible talent?
Cillian Murphy can literally just go grocery shopping and I would still watch it. This man is talented af 💜
You and me both
Word.
Same, he could read the phone book and I’d watch.
@@gissellest333 lol
I met him in a grocery shop in dingle once, ask for photo and he politely said no thanks I try not to do things like that 😂 good man.
I really hope this film brings Emily Watson back to the Oscars, where she belongs. She's such an incredible talent and so underused and underappreciated.
Yes! Breaking the waves is a film that’s stayed with me all these years. And she’s made such good choices: Hilary and Jackie, Oranges and sunshine, In the name of the father.
Wonderful actress, I watched God's Creatures just last week. Some actores like Emily and indeed Cillian just surpass the art. x
Some of the greatest actors ever didn't win an Oscar.
Eva Green is in the same position as Emily does.
She won in Berlin for best actress, I hope she'll get at least a nomination for Small Things like These. Though, I believe she has chances to win considering this year's other films.
Cillian Murphy has spoken about how much he loves this book in interviews. Can't be a coincidence. Good for him! ❤
Hes sooo freakin vulnerable and dangerous all at the same time.
Whoa. You nailed it-this is such a short clip, but it's intensely unnerving. This also had that "Shepherd Tone" sound Christopher Nolan always uses (think of Health Ledger's Joker and you'll hear it) that makes me feel like my brain is going to break...
Absolutely loved the book❤ and now a movie has been made about it AND Cillian Murphy is in it 😮 dreams do come true❤🇮🇪
can't get much better than that!!
I'm currently reading this book and absolutely loving it. My first encounter by an Irish writer. ❤KR
Yes he’s perfect for this I hope he gets his Oscar tomorrow night ❤
@@hablin1 please god he deserves it 🙏🏻❤️
CILLIAN MURPHY FANS MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.. KEEP ROOTING FOR THIS MAN'S OSCAR WIN AS WELL.
God knows Cillian Murphy can play anything, as witnessed with “Oppenheimer” and so many other past roles, but I do particularly like when he plays his Irish self. Another great movie where he plays an Irish character is “The Wind That Shakes the Barley” about the Irish War of Independence and the subsequent Civil War (1919-1923), Highly recommended.
thanks for recommendation! gonna watch it
Intermission aswell is one of my favourites
"28 Days Later" is also a must see...
Also, Disco Pigs from 2001 is soooooo awesome! Boy, that Irish accent was thicc there xD
Welk its his own Cork accent there, then w West Cork one in The in Win that shakes the barley. d@@SviraSvi
I'm really struck by how perfect the clothes are... he is dressed exactly like our old coalman.
Oh that's so funny but, you're absolutely right 👏👏👏👏🇮🇪💚🙏🏻
This film is based on a powerful story written by Claire Keegan. The Magdalene laundries, run by the Irish catholic church for decades, were used to incarcerate young women who refused to comply with their families wishes. It's an evil that's been buried too long. I can't wait to see this film, but I'd recommend everyone read Keegan's story first. Joni Mitchell's song "The Magdalene Laundries" also tells the story.
If you haven't read the book, do. It's magnificent work by Claire Keegan. Short, with a helluva punch.
I'm at the 3rd chapter and i'm excited for the next ones
I loved it ❤
Funny enough I worked in a launderette run by Nuns in Clonmel Co Tipperary Ireland in the Early 80s. Here is a fun fact Eileen Walsh who plays Eileen Furlong in Small Things Like These
played Crispina in the Brilliant Movie The Magdalene Sisters Ireland's infamous Magdalen laundries.
God that movie was brutal. Soul crushing.
@@lesyeuxsansvisage1157 it was Les.
Thanks for that..I couldn't Place where I'd seen her..
Brilliant Actress
At last! A trailer that's not a montage of the entire movie but just enough to draw you in! Kudos for that alone.
Let's take all the awards Cillian
Much deserved i must say and long overdue ❤
And Emily
Can't wait to see this film. Two of my fav actors Cillian and Emily already has me super excited.
Emily Watson was always a class act
I cant see this film in Germany.
Amazon and Netflix dont have it neither.
Does anyone know where would be possible to see it?
@@AnnaV20241 It's not been released yet, was shown at the Berlin film festival tho I think. It's due to be released later this year

Okay, wow. I’ve just put down the book, and wanted to check out how Cillian Murphy might embody this character. He has legit nailed within the first 3 seconds. WOW. Is there anything this man can’t do. I loved the book and excited for this movie. For once I managed to read the book first. When I heard Cillian was making this into a movie, I ran to the book shop.
Small Things Like These is such a powerful/meaningful novella. Looking forward to seeing it brought to life on the screen!
No distribution in Ireland yet. The Church destroyed so many lives.
the global opening night should be in Ireland.
I read this book a few weeks ago; glad it's coming out as a film!
this really needs to be released I just read the book and I absolutely loved it actually made me cry I felt for the Furlong's kids, him and the women in the convent please release this in US I miss my Cillian's face too lol 😂😂😍😍😍🙏🙏🙏
Ah the good old days. Brings a tear to the eye.
I have no idea what book this is from or what the story is but Cillian Murphy could make a movie of him standing doing nothing and I'd watch it.
Long overdue for all awards CM .
Thank you for this first glimpse! 😊
My pleasure 😊
where can we watch the entire movie@@k2movies_
Such a beautiful book; hoping for good things with the movie
Loved the book, can't wait to see the film.❤
The book was wonderful. The authors other book Foster was great too. I wish they would make a film version of that one as well.
They did - it’s in Irish: Calilin Chuin
I hope the film is faithful to the ambiguous final scene with which Claire Keegan ends her novella. I see Bill Furlong as a lonely man undergoing something of a midlife crisis who feels he can find redemption and ease his conscience by rescuing the young mother, Sarah, from the local convent and bringing her home with him. But he doesn’t seem to take into consideration the disastrous consequences this decision will bring down upon himself and his wife and daughters by provoking the anger of the Catholic Church. There’s no easy solution to Bill’s dilemma, and I hope the film’s producers don’t tack on a feel-good, Christmasy happy ending to increase the movie’s box office appeal.
Doubt they will, it’s in good hands. The Quiet Girl ended perfectly (previous novella Foster).
@@aleanbh3808I think you’re right. A few weeks ago, I saw a video of Cillian Murphy speaking at a press conference at the Berlin International Film Festival following the world premiere of “Small Things Like These”. Cillian referred to having heard Claire Keegan in an interview describe Bill Furlong as a man experiencing “a breakdown”, which led me to conclude that that’s how he portrayed Bill in the film. If anyone is interested in viewing the same interview, you can find it on TH-cam by searching for, “The Art of Reading Book Club with Colm Toíbín Episode 1 ‘Small Things Like These’ by Claire Keegan”.
If the film version of “Small Things Like These” is even half as good as Colm Bairéad’s adaptation of Claire Keegan’s “Foster” as the film, “An Cailín Ciúin”-“The Quiet Girl”-I’ll be more than satisfied. I greatly enjoyed reading “Foster”, and I also greatly admired Colm’s screenplay, particularly how he handled the relationship between Seán and Cáit, showing Seán as a man who only reluctantly dares to open his heart to love a child again, knowing he’ll be hurt in the end. The father/daughter bond between Seán and Cáit is the real heart of “The Quiet Girl” story, which makes the final scene all the more emotionally overwhelming, and true to the ending of Keegan’s long short story.
They don't. I won't go further than that in order to not spoil it, but i felt the film was even darker than the book
@@rehnumachowdhury3629 Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to seeing the film, and I imagine the distributors will want to release it around Christmas.
Well i am seeing that Cillian Murphy is getting back to back two oscars.
This looks brilliant!
Emily Watson…..superb. She’s truly amazing as an actor and between herself and Cillian Murphy, I know I’m going to manage to watch this. I have the attention span of a meth-addled, hyper squirrel and most films bore the arse off me, but I’m actually looking forward to this one.
OMG top, top actors!!!
I want to see Emily Watson in the nexts Golden Globes, Baftas and Oscar. She Is one of my favorites actress
I'm from the town this is set in and my old school was the laundry in the film. Wild.
Love the use of sound in this clip.
The book so great!
I can't feckin wait for this
He's a fantastic actor but I would love to see him do some romcom too.

A movie that HADE to be made.

@user-ky9jj3dz6j thanks for the grammar lesson. No need for my thinking it’s spot on dear.
I know what part of the book that is now. I can’t wait to see this movie.
Enjoyed the book, the only caveat I'd say is that I lived a stone's throw from New Ross at the time that this movie was set in ...
No one said ' What ails you lad.... or... a leanabh... ( meaning child or young in Gaelic ) in 1986 ... that's language more suited to the 30's/ 40's ... also, in the book a lad is seen gathering sticks for the fire, again not in the late 80's...
When I was reading the book I had to check if I had the year right. Completely wrong for the time it's set.
Are there any movies on Ireland selling its ophanges as test subject to pharmaceutical companies?
I just read this book and wanted to see if anyone made a video on it. I can’t believe a movie was made. The book is 125 pages. I’d like to see the movie.
Ninety seconds in the inferno of the Magdalene laundries.
When is the international date of release?
Where can I watch it?
Lionsgate/Roadside attractions have bought the distribution rights for Small things- it will be coming to theaters in US/UK/IRELAND Nov 1(tentative).
Cill's next film STEVE is for Netflix and will be released next year. 28 years later trilogy is next then Blood runs COAL next year and finally the Peaky Blinders movie when he can find the time.
Thank you to Joni Mitchell for helping bring it all to light💫🕯️
Joni’s song is beautiful but it had been brought to light before then eg in Eclipsed, a play about the Magdalene Laundries, written by Patricia Burke-Brogan in the 1980s. Burke-Brogan had worked in the laundries in the 1960s. Eclipsed was first performed in 1992.
❤😍🤗
When will this be released in uk?
The rarity of a non Irish actress doing a non embarrassing Irish accent - Emily is brilliant.
Wait in what film does she do a bad Irish accent?
@@rehnumachowdhury3629 I didn't word that very well. I meant that most non Irish actors - even good ones - do terrible Irish accents, but Emily's is really good. Edited.
Christ Emily that was chilling why is no one talking about THAT
Love to see Emily Watson!
The last time Cillian in a church doesnt works well for the nuns
Any chance to see Emily acting I will take it.
When I was very young, a young woman - more of a girl really - ran up to my mother begging for help. I can remember my mother looking scared, and she refused. Some men appeared and grabbed the woman, and dragged her up a driveway. She was screaming that all she wanted to see her son. It was years later when I went to secondary school that I found it it was the entrance to a Magdalene Laundry. You couldn't acknowledge its existence, cos if you did, you'd be threatened with the 'Good Shepherds' or worse, an industrial school. Those times were dark. Ireland still has its problems, but it's a better place. I don't understand why some want to go back to those times. 💔
excuse my ignorance but what does this mean, why was she screaming what had happened?
She was being dragged back into the Magdalene Laundry, probably never to see the outside world again.@@sophieee1900

Can the Irish ever make Anything other than dark drab dreary and depressing?
You chose exactly right name for yourself on TH-cam, "stupid thing" - that's 100% about you and your comment. Did you even read what this movie is about? do you expect something colorful and funny?
@@k2movies_ Is crying your only talent?
No, we blame the weather.
The Van, The Snapper, The Commitments, The Guard, The General, Intermission, Rosie & Frank, Waking Ned Devine, Once, I Went Down, Sing Street, Hear My Song.....about a ton more, many globally acclaimed. Plus some of the most globally acclaimed TV series....Anyway, you're probably trolling - them hemorrhoids causing you bother!
Didn’t you see “An Cailín Ciúin”-“The Quiet Girl”? It’s about as far from a dark, drab, dreary, and depressing film as you’re likely to find. Yes, the ending is bittersweet, but it contains a note of hope as well, and all in all, it’s as beautiful and touching a story as you’re likely to see on the screen anywhere. And it’s based on “Foster”, another long short story by Claire Keegan. Frankly, I think the international success of “The Quiet Girl” and its Oscar nomination helped smooth the way for the production of “Small Things Like These”, yet another Irish film with an Irish theme and Irish subject matter.
NOPE
Not another Magdalene Laundries movie/ show.
Indeed! Enough is enough!
There’s been no where near enough Movies/Shows about it. It’s a topic that the whole world should know about, and more films and television shows about it will shed light on this horrible period in Irish history
Have you heard about the movie thats coming out next year? Its called "Tuam Babies: Excavating the remains of the 796 dead babies who were murdered by nuns and dumped in a septic tank". Oh wait no, thats not a movie, its real life and its going to be going on for the next decade so you might want to stay away from all media sources until all thats over and done with.
Ireland has barely even begun to deal with the horrific legacy that the Church has left us with. The fact that it still plays any role in public life whatsoever is an outrage and a disgrace. I hope they make a thousand more movies and tv shows about it - and the Church should pay for them all too. Mind you I'd settle for them simply paying what they owe all the victims whose lives they destroyed.
The story isn’t all about that ! It’s a story about a man ,his marriage and his children.
There's only one other movie about this topic. What are you on about you tool
Never heard of it but not surprising coming from the same old toxic cult
Anti Catholic. Now there’s a fresh topic….🤪🤪 I’ll pass.
More like 'anti imprisoning and abusing young women and stealing and selling their babies and throwing dead babies in septic tanks'. but if that equates to 'anti catholic' then yeah I guess it is.
Does anyone know when the movie will be released to the public? I wanna see this in the cinema.
