    You remember that moment when...it just starts to make sense? It' s such an emotional response and my body just starts to tingle like the world is right all of the sudden. Thank you Sean - you are so relatable and really help me connect with how great playing makes me feel. This is how it's supposed to feel and it's a massive rush of excitement and relief to know I CAN DO THIS! It's like happy blissful chill melting over a marshmallow sunset. If this is the beginning of whatever this is, I'm in BIG trouble in the best imaginable way possible..."that's no moon, it's a space station" meets Heaven, wearing a tuxedo t-shirt kinda thing...so, yeah, I'm having a good day.

    You are a pure channel of guitar-playing knowledge, always knowing where you are going next. If I could only translate half of what you know to my playing I would be truly happy!

    OK, you're an LA apostate. Noted. But despite your brunch heresy... super useful lesson! I get so hung up on learning the fanciness and a never-ending string of half-remembered little riffs and licks and stuff, but then these fundamental chord lessons really help me get a better understanding of the key and of just jamming a little and letting my guitar ring and sound musical. Thank you!

    Trying to wrap my head around the way you used the min 7 flat 5 chords. They're not really substitutions in that progression if I understand it correctly, but rather passing chords that you used to get the chromatic movement in the bass and the reason they work is because you've got the A min triad with F# so that's adding the 6 chord in drag and then with the G# you add the B min triad, which hints at the 7 chord nobody knows anyway. If so my takeaway is that you can use the flat 5 or flat 6 min 7 flat 5 chord to lead into the 5 or 6 chord when they come around if you want to jazz up a chord progression. Is that about right?

    I’m starting my next song on the flat 1…and charting it that way for my bassist.

    Please can I ask if each chord in a progression is allocated a bar or can it be varied? Most examples given seem to suggest this.

    More chord progression lessons, please! Very useful. For vi - V - IV, I tend the extend it to vi-V-IV-III, because apparently it's a thing (-:

    • @TonySkraba
      @TonySkraba ปีที่แล้ว

      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andalusian_cadence -- the "spanish" progression. in your iv-V-IV-III try finding melodies over the iv scale (same notes as the 1 major) and just try to lead notes

    • @TonySkraba
      @TonySkraba ปีที่แล้ว

      (beating dead horse here but) if you try Em-D-C-B7, your E-minor/G-major notes include all the open strings!

    Everyone's got chord progressions, cp's if you will, but no one tells you how to build more parts in the key that go together. Could be a good video, not that I need it.
