These seem extremely similar to the WRM V9, especially the ball-core versions. It would make a little more sense if the WRM had adjustable magnets, as the Super
RS3M V2 will likely be cheaper. I wonder what the advantage of the WRM over the RS3M would be.

Shawn. There is a discernible difference between blue and purple tensioner caps. The base of the purple is about twice as thick as blue. So it holds the Maglev ring magnet that little bit further from the core (maybe just 0.5mm or something) to increase the tension. I suspect they use it because the Maglev exerts more pressure and they know something about how much thicker it needs to be for structural integrity. But it's also the case that while the blue may be thinner/weaker they definitely allow the cube to be looser. A cube that feels "tight" even with the tension set to loosest feels much better when purple are replaced with blue. This looseness is especially important if you are trying to achieve powerful auto homing. See video I published recently about updating YS3M to auto homing magnetic core. First thing I did was switch Maglev purples to blues (cubicle even sell kits of 6 blues for this - I recently ordered 5 sets).
I suspect the reason you get one blue as spare is because they use the same accessory pack for all Moyu. I guess it's like that thin spare tyre you get with a Porsche ;-)
Thank you for the clarification. I plan do check this out in more detail. I've only heard rumors until now and am going to disassemble both the standard and Ball Core, possibly swapping pieces too.
Those are different cubes altogether so they will feel different. The blue will have more room for adjustment so the lowest setting would feel lighter than the lowest setting on purple.
@@ObjectShowDia it depends which Super V2 you have. The spring model has blue tensioners (as all Moyu "spring" cubes do). The Maglev and the Ball Core (which is also maglev) both have purple because Moyu put purple tensioners in their Maglev cubes. The "trick" (if it really is a "trick") is that if you want a Maglev cube to be looser you switch out purple for blue. If that's all you did it would not achieve very much as it might make an already loose cube stupidly loose. But to counter-balance that, if you are upgrading magnets and maybe adding new lots of magnets (like core and opposition to a cube that's only Maglev so far) then the stronger magnets will "pull things back together again" - the reason you do this is that if you want really strong magnetic force (especially to try and achieve 45 degree auto-homing!) then you want the cube itself to be extremely loose indeed - even a small amount of friction will stop the auto homing from working. You "get away with it" (a cube that in other circumstances is almost "falling apart") because there's so much magnetic force in all directions it holds things tight together.
The WRM V9 (my favourite cube of all!) is kind of the exception that proves the rule. It already comes with blue tensioners (I guess Moyu have heard the rumours!) and it delivers nice auto-homing with being stuffed pull of heavy/strong magnets - in fact if you disassemble the V9 you find the very small magnets in there look a bit pathetic and wonder how on earth they work so well! Clearly Moyu themselves are true masters of engineering!
@@ObjectShowDia for a cube to "auto home" it not only needs magnets in the core and attracting magnets in the base of the corners but it has to have opposing magnets in the base of the edge pieces. WRM V9 has this. No model of RS3M , even the ball core version of Super V2, does (unless you upgrade yourself) so there's no point doing a purple/blue swap in any Maglev RS3M unless you are introducing opposing/repulsion edge magnets.
Now Moyu make that upgrade easy in YS3M as they've left a hole in the stem of the edge pieces that it's easy to glue a 4x2mm magnet into. Up to now no RS3M had such a cavity so the only way to upgrade was drilling holes. I've not seen enough of Super V2 edge pieces yet to know if there is a hole there.
(PS I published a video the other day that shows exactly this upgrade, including a purple/blue swap being done to YS3M Maglev but, like I say, that's because YS3M makes it easy )

From someone who mains the 2022 Super RS3M ("Ball-Core"), the v2s definitely feel like good successors to the v1s.

Mine arrived today, gotta wonder about moyu’s priorities though as the packaging is definitely giving off more of a premium feel than the v9 did. Guessing that with having no tracks on the pieces it’s going to shed its lube a lot faster.. hopefully not on to the surface too much otherwise people will be getting a lot of +2s in the future

I'm so confused about all the offerings now. Not THAT long ago I got RS3M 2020 with add-in maglev, as well as a Gan 11 M Duo as a higher end one when I saw it on sale. These days, every single puzzle has 3-4 versions, and Moyu has like 4 different lines alone. What is going on?!
I have a Tornado V3 Flagship on the way, again because of a sale, but I am interested in these newer lines of puzzles with ball cores and such.

edit1: tbh my ballcore 2022 is very stable as i put some lube inside it and tightened it to its max as i have very accurate turning

I heard cubesolvehero said adding nebula give gummy and controlable feel but doesn't sound like there isn't any lube in it. With ur experience is that true?
That's not an accurate statement. A Puzzle feels lubricated depending on how much you put in. Lighter lubricants allow you to add more without adjusting the speed too much. Something thicker like cosmos you would not need as much. So you can add a lot more of lunar to make it feel gummy, or add a very little of cosmos, to slow it down without the feeling of lubrication as much. Nebula is somewhere in the middle.

So many different versions, but all with the same tired tension adjustment system and lack of magnet adjustment. With so many releases, surely they could experiment a little more with new set ups?
I honestly prefer this tension system over all the crazy things Have has tried to do. It's good they have not changed it.

Corner twists can happen on pretty much every cube on the market with loose enough tensions. The tensions were just a bit too loose on that cube.

This is the weirdest release in my opinion. Like, why didn't they do capped piece design for the WRM v9? What is the price going to be? UV coating is amazing, but that, plus capped piece design, plus a fancy packaging, is surely more expensive than the basic RS3M. How will this cube feel after it's broken in - given that there are no dragonscale or other pattern?
If they asked me what RS3M Super v2 should be like, I'd say add some plastic washers to the version with springs, and include this handy plastic case - and keep everything else the same.

Not sure what they're doing giving the one blue centre adjustment piece, as there actually is a difference between the purple and blue in terms of the plastic thickness at the bottom. I remember a video from the cubicle saying the blue gives better adjustment settings as the spring is compressed less by default.
I switch all my maglev MoYu cubes back to either blue or blue and springs because I can’t stand the purple lmao

@@jeffreys.hobbies To me it makes quite a difference. I will say that replacing it with rs3m pieces like I did will make the rs3 worse, so I’d use a different cube if possible. If you’re really willing to sacrifice it though, than do it. If not, it’s still a fantastic cube. It just has more potential with different pieces.

Neither is faster. They both need to be slowed down for sure by even top cubers. Most cubes are too fast out of the box.
I have the tornado v3, I like it a lot, but have been wanting something new, either the ys3m or the weilong v9. Now they've released this?? There's too much to choose from.

I wouldn't say there is an issue. Gan 13 and Tornado v3 can twist with too loose of tensions as well.

@@hyperox7601 unless you are a diehard GAN fanboy or can't even hold a Nintendo Switch controller I do not recommend spending more for a different version. The Super RS3M ballcore v1 is insanely good. You do not need the internal color unless you really want it and the UV coating is useless because you can just use the normal coating (unless you are Luke Garret or Ruihang Xu and always drop the cube)

It's strange that "auto homing" doesn't work despite the edge magnets.
It works as well as the Gan 13 and the WRm v9. I tend to not overly loosen the cube to show it working like in some other people's videos.
It's honestly a bit of a gimmick as it's not very useful in full solves when doing algs since the fingers don't really leave the puzzle much.

Not usually 6, but all the way. 1 click was way too fast without any lubrication and I tend to prefer the tightest tension settings on many puzzles.
