I like that you can order it with black instead of grey and don't have to swap the pieces yourself. And that "box" looks really cool (PS whenever you say box I think of the "what's in the box" joke you made a few weeks ago).
As far as I understand, you can't swap colors/faces (without possibility of damage)
people say its worse cause you have to buy the mega separately with the colors and cant switch them
in my opinion if you only want a black ll and dont want to switch any other colors (and ik theres people that do that) there wouldnt be any reason to get gray caps anyways, but i wouldnt say i like it either cause its better to have the choice to switch colors obviously

Apparently the original one, probably what you reviewed back in Jan, was recalled and they improved several things on it.

Surprised they sent you the black UV, instead of the gray UV. They're not releasing the black UV to the public till March 31, and then they will also release frosted versions of both gray and black. $67 for either UV, $58 for frosted.
I'm decently fast on megaminx, have a sub 40 average and I own the dayan pro with the ballcore and I got to say, ballcore is extremely useless on a megaminx (It almost reminds me of the 2x2s with ball core). What's funny to me is that the Dayan pro is almost half the price of this one and it gives you all the same features. It has the UV coating, the tensioning and also the ballcore. Plus, you can easily swap out the gray for black without having to buy a different version of the puzzle. The gan puzzle definitely looks good but I would never buy it because it just doesn't give me anything better than what I already have. I'm also pretty sure it's larger than the Dayan pro.

I have the Dayan Pro and its really good! Dunno how much of an improvement this is to that but if your not sure I would go with the Dayan Pro its really solid!
SCR please answer my question. Do you have a *budget cube* recomendation that have Glossy finish but the cube performs good ?
I regret buying Moyu RS3, bcs I really don't like the Matte finish, is very vulnerable to scratch.

@@ayanami_aynI think qiyi m pro ballcore uv is the cheapest UV coated cube. The other one I can think of is RS3M UV. Also consider the RS3M V5 Ballcore.

Thanks for the suggesion, but I think ballcore are not to be considered budget cube. I also searching for Glossy finish, not UV Foated finish. Budget cube mostly has Matte finish, which is a finish that I hate.
@@ayanami_ayn yeah, if you're looking for a "budget UV coated cube" under $10-15 then
, there is none. But if you're here in the Philippines you can get the Qiyi M Pro ballcore UV for about 500-600 pesos (about 9-11 USD) which I consider a budget cube.
I'm honestly surprised they used black as the 12th color. I guess it stands out more, but it almost stands out a bit too much to me if that makes sense.
They make both regular and with black in place of grey. Other megaminx models often come with black pieces in the box or have them sold separetedly so you can change one of the faces to black, some people change the grey, others chance the beige.
Black is pretty much the standard last layer color for every other Mega besides GAN (generally Dayan is the new gold standard for premium Megas). Better contrast on last layer, makes it WAY easier. The cream color is the worst (too close to white), and they made it a bit more yellow, which is better...so I still do not like this. And since you can't move sodes around on this Mega (if the pieces are sealed like their last HORRIBLE Mega), it makes customization almost impossible.
I replace grey with black and shift the grey to where the cream was. So last layer is black and the grey replaces the godawful cream. Works best for me.
But I am glad GAN didn't kneecap themselves like they did last time without a black side option. Nobody uses GAN megas in comp for a reason. It was almost as bad as their 4x4. We might see them now that they did a better job and also they made improvements on one of the biggest problem in megas... corner twists.
@@PandemosInteresting take. I actually liked the first GAN Megaminx, but I'm a casual solver. My first megaminx was a cheap jiehui, it was terrible, but it introduced me to megaminx, so I won't complain too much. Then I got the first GAN Megaminx, and after a while I also got the Galaxy V2M, which was fine also, but felt way too heavy for me. Then came the Dayan V2M, which was even lighter than the GAN, while also being more stable.
I like your color scheme, makes a lot of sense and is not such as radical departure from the default as Yu Da Hyun's scheme. Kinda crazy how she went for similar colors next to each other. Jumping to a completely different color scheme like that looks even more daunting than leaving QWERTY for Dvorak, probably would feel more like moving directly to a Maltron keyboard. 😅

what a dumb cap design, it looks like you'd have to disassemble the whole puzzle every time to adjust it.
Its better than the Yuhu cap.
