By 11:58 I'm thinking, "Enough, don't ruin it!" But you go on and bring even closer to perfection. Bob Ross indeed. Though you may have not have the need for one, a trowel, like those used by archeologists would be a similar project. I wouldn't mind seeing how you develop the ridge at the juncture of the handle and the blade. Normally the "cheap" ones are welded and always break at that point. A free Mason legacy project.

I love the split twisted Handle and how you draw out the shovel end and also make the Octagon to add extra feature so every aspect is an attraction and shows your superb skills....I love the way your mind works while creating this because your already adapting it to future projects. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I wanted to share an idea you might want to try. It’s a fireplace grate or pot swing arm. I’ve seen forged these on a few fireplaces and would like to see one with an adaptor for both adding a grate for grilling as well as an arm to hang a cook pot. Cheers!
This is one of my favorite pieces of yours. It’s very clean. I remember some videos ago you said your striking needed some work. It shows here it’s gotten better. The power hammer is still fun to see move lots of metal though.

It looks like a wrought body with tool steel face and those all ring. I have been able to reduce my ring but not as much as you have.

Hi guys, I have a quick question, I just got hired as a Blacksmith at a historical blacksmith shop. The forge in this shop hasten been used for over 100 years, I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to prep it for use.

That might set off the fire alarm. When I was in school two students fired up a hibachi to cook celebrating the end of the semester. The rest of us were not happy standing in the rain while the FD inspected. We still had finals to study for too. We were not happy with them!
@@johnjude2685 I know I will, one day, when I have the money and space for real tools. considering most of the crafting I've done in my life has been on the floor, with hand tools and an unsecured vice, it won't take much to be an upgrade. After collage I plan on putting serious thought and effort into a basic workbench, and possible seeing if my family's HOA will allow a small building for a forge. My dad used to make armor for a medieval reenactment group some 30-40 years ago, so he'd probably join me at it too, and we still have some of his hammers. but yeah, it's a thing, Ill do it, but it won't be soon.

I think I will go out and make me one, I keep moving coal with my gloved hand and making a mess of my gloves.
Very cool!! Imma do that handle!! But I think I'll loop it through its self, before twisting it! That'll give the individual bars a twist as well!!

The swage or wood block are certianly ideal. But there are always options if they aren't aailable

Clean the junk out and if it has a blower make sure it has fresh oil. Have the chimney swept as well

Find a local or regional group to learn. Then when your situation changes you'll be ready
