What I truly wish for her, if she hasn't already, is to be given THE BEST trauma therapy, psychiatrist and psychologist to helo her bury this horror story. No fee. Private medic. And absent of a waiting time. She deserves this. For the sake of leading a whole life. 💜

You’re so so obviously right it should go without saying… but the NHS waiting lists are huge! I experienced serial sa and physical abuse by dad known to mum and was isolated from school. I had to wait 3.5 years for regular therapy and lost a promised place in a therapeutic community last minute because of funding - on that basis I don’t hold out huge hopes in Katy’s case

It makes me sad that it took such a long time for somebody outside to care or notice things weren't right... When her mother committed suicide, none of the police checked her welfare. Child protective services never investigated. They didn't seem to question anything about who she was, where her records were, why she wasn't in school or her living circumstances. And when she escaped as an adult they treated her as a runaway teenager and completely dismissed her and didn't investigate anything. They questioned her with her abusers in the room, which shouldn't happen in any domestic violence situation because the victim can easily be scared and coerced by their abuser into not speaking. Which is what happened to her. They didn't seem to even get in a social worker or anything to delve into the situation and didn't connect her to any services to help. I mean, it should've been clear from talking to her that she was trapped in a cult. Instead they sent her back. It's terrible.

@@the_local_bigamist It is actually very common in Asia where parents are like this. I am not being a dick. I hate this type of parenting too. In Western countries you don't see that type of parenting very often, this person probably compared how her friends' parents treat their kids differently than hers.
I am not siding with her mom or her, I've seen parents where they lose their children because their kids do not understand the sacrifices and type of love that the parents are providing. They do not understand the intentions their parents have to be the best parents they can be. It is quite saddening for both sides.
Sounds to me like her mom just needed to learn how to let go of her baby, but again I don't know what other problems she had with her mom, so I can't say much. It is a very sad situation to be in for both sides.

Someone else said in the comments above this is a perfect case and argument against the whole nature versus nurture. This baby, toddler, child, teenager and adult was physically, emotionally and psychologically abused and yet through it all she never gave in to the dark side. She is the light. I wish I could meet her I have such pure love and respect for someone who has been through so much. I went to the same school as Sian (her mother) did. Just before many of us went to uni, we had an impromptu lesson on how to spot a cult and the dangers of love-bombing from 'churches' we might come across and were told that someone from my school had died at the hands of one. When I came to uni, I asked everyone else if they'd had "the cult talk" and they looked at me blankly. I'm glad we did because anyone can get into one and I'm so glad her daughter has thrived despite such a hard upbringing!

The way she says they have been treating her, its 100% from a marxist textbook. word by word! sounds like hes learned all of it completely, so hed always know what to say. perfect cult! perfect cult ideology! perfect hell! thank God that this beautiful girl got out from there safe!

Any ideology can suit a cult's agenda. Look at how many religions have been utilised by cults (i.e. how many cults claim to be "Christian"?). Science fiction literature forms the ideology of one of the most powerful and notorious cults in the world (Scientology). In fact, if you have actually studied Marxism, you'll find that actual Marxist philosophy would completely contradict any kind of cult making claims such as the ones made by this poor woman's father. i'm so happy to see Katy doing well, there's an interview with her for a news programme some where and watching that and learning about what she's been through broke my heart. Lots of love to her and all the other survivors

Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Yet, forgiveness doesn't mean that what the other person did was okay and it doesn't mean that you have to trust them or even like them. God helped me, and continues to help me forgive.

Brutal story and self portrait inflicted upon this beautiful young woman, which was never her fault in the first place ! Really I think her parents should be put in jail and her grandparents, the same and her brother right there with him. They are sick people and we need to stay away from those kind of people and be kept away from their violence and mental instability..

I like these videos about cults because they are really similar to religions. Religions are cults but people will go against that idea, imagine you saw a documentary of a cult where they circumcised children because of some weird reason like it promotes good health (first of all, most beliefs in cultures, key word being cult, have no logic behind it, its just something that was passed down for generations, there is no science to it) We would still see that its completely wrong and unacceptable but that same person will ignore it if it was in their own culture.
