Cool to hear the beginnings of solo ideas that all really got perfected in the original album take
This album was such a huge part of my development as both a musician and a person. My band director has us play music from this very album for our high school marching band. I'll always remember him taking a moment to have everyone in our band just, listen to this album near the end of a day at band camp so we understood what we were trying to sound like, or us practicing those Trombone lines. Amazing to think this album is now 10 years old. Excited to get to experience it again with the remastered album.
What marching band? This is awesome! Can you link a video of the performance? (:
Bill Laurance can make me cry no matter how many alternate ways he could play this solo.
How he creates such meaningful phrases on the fly. It's the kind of skill that no matter how much you practice, you need to have something in you.
Of all the Snarky songs that take you on an amazing trip, this one is probably the most beautiful and exciting adventures. And this take is like hearing the story from someone else's perspective.
Hear our cries, y'all. Put the original back up, PLEASE!!!
Yes yes bro. looked all around couldn't get it. Miss Bill's Solo
@@nicholasmuleme2355 maaaahhhhnnnn…

Love the new mixing, mastering and solos, cant believe its been 10 years!! Still don't think anything can top Bill's solo from the old version though
Bill solo and Cory solo, from old version are masterpiece...
@@fml169 Yep and the bass solo is completely suis generis. I prefer the original release.
Every thig is perfect but . . . i woud like the 'presence' of guitars and bass in the same level of flugelhorn, piano an sinthy solos! (it would be marvellous!)
Completely agree. I've been looking for it on TH-cam
@@fml169 Yeah the album track was the right take to choose, as Jay and Bill's solos are way better, and Michael's bass solo is harder to hear in the new mix. The Cory solo in this one is still amazing (I mean, they're all still amazing). Either way, it's still fun to get alternate solos to listen to, and overall, the mix is better because those strings and mallet percussion instruments are more present. Plus new camera angles is a fresh way to experience it, too.
Wow! And this was 10 years ago! One of the best bands ever!
Beautiful, but please put the original back up... 😘
do we know why they took the original down?
Apparently, it's to encourage us to buy the DVD. I don't hate the idea, but hope it includes a streaming option.
@@jonathankamrava9060 No encouragement needed. Already got the albums and singles. This one is next...
One of my absolute favorites, nice to see a variation. Still highlight for me will always be the Bass and Moog bleeding into Bill Laurance's solo. That brings tears to my eyes every time, so incredible.
THANK YOU for sharing additional takes. I've listened to the original release 100 times and it's so interesting being able to compare and hear different ideas. Attending two of the recording sessions for Empire Central gave me a huge appreciation for this band's process and each member's incredible musicianship and adaptability.
it's crazy how it feels like a completely new song with the different solos and remaster
Wonderful song! I remember that I started crying 10 years ago with Bill's solo, and the emotion was very similar even listening to this alternative version. Having listened to it many times, I know the solos by heart, and it was very interesting to hear the different improvisational ideas play out in this version.
Pfouahhhhh. juste merci pour ces 14 mn les yeux remplis de larmes d'admiration de tant de musicalité.
Merci , merci , merci Snarky 💛💛💛
So magical to see this years later. There must be lots of Snarky alternate takes. Would be great to see more of these gems. Doesn’t matter if people think one is better than the other etc. I bet there are lots which are release-worthy.
Goosebumps...Every note, every hit has a meaningful purpose!! IMO...one of their most masterful pieces
Cory definitely travelled to another world during his solo and Bill has people rethinking their life choices during his
100%!!
World??? He's still out their in outer space in another dimension. Cory is the living musical definition of String Theory!
As a live sound guy, I can't imagine how how that headphone system was routed. As a music lover, this was an incredible performance.
PLEASE PUT THE ORIGINAL BACK😭😭😭
it has not gone anywhere. Both are exquisite in their own right. But I know what you mean, I'm partial to the original versions as well lol
Bill in Universe-Is-Talking-To-You mode
This take is absolutely beautiful, just like the original, but I love the original a bit more still.
Everything about this is wonderful, but oh my, that piano solo made me weep. I am so moved. Thank you ❤
I love the flugelhorn solo.
An interesting take, I like it! Cory's solo is more chaotic and I'm a big fan haha. I enjoyed the drums more during the flugelhorn solo in the other take, feel like the drums in the old take pushed the solo to another level. This must be a first take. It's great to get input as a listener to more 'incomplete' takes as well; not that this in any way is bad, it's still great! Much love!
I agree, the other version was well assembly
I really enjoy hear us new mix...i knew of memory every part of everything cause is My favorite song. Thanks for the alternate take. Love you.
If beauty exists in this world, it must be there 🙏
it is interesting to see the solo ideas that were planned vs improvised, planned being present in both versions
How beautiful... thank you!!
It’s been 10 years , and this experiment will forever be in my mind as I was in the audience this day! Thanks y’all
J'ai rarement entendu quelque chose d'aussi beau.
Magnífico!!!... después 4 años me tomé libertad de VOLVER A ESCUCHARLOS!!!
Both versions are wonderful, bravissimo!
I liked the earlier version more. How ever this is absolutely amazing as well!
it lives rent free in my head
I love the new mix. And I love hearing the new solos! Thanks!
I love this song and this entire album. I listened to this entire album driving through Delaware and it kept me awake. The new mix most definitely gives it a new dimension, amazing! Please post “The Clearing” as well soon. 😉
Turns out missed the part that said “bonus take”. Still sounds amazing.
Another stellar performance, though I think you chose the right take in the end. Jeez louise you guys just nail it every time. My favourite jazz collective... big love from New Zealand
What a masterpiece!
This version hurts me.. why did they remove the original?????
Entranced In An Enhanced Adventure.. I Loved it ❤❤❤
A gift to humanity. Thanks for reuploading !
Like a film score! Beautiful stuff!
Just stunned that this level of musicianship a. exists (thank god) b. integrates classical acoustic instrumentation perfectly with modern electronic instruments and c. is generally unknown by the public at large. Tell Rick Beato that there is HOPE!
You know hes been requested to watch lingus at least a million times by now
There’s a lot of music on YT which Rick could look at and say there was hope but most of his audience seems more focused on revisiting nostalgic music with emphasis on rock/pop. I don’t mind a bit of nostalgia but I have (with my sons) listened more broadly (admittedly avoiding contemporary pop)i ncluding the rather niche genre of vgm jazz thanks to a very clever local band called The Consouls. The mainstream, however, is still aimed at what most people can learn to sing swiftly ;) so it has repeated words and predictable tunes with many repeated notes (to oversimplify). Maybe the next generation will learn to appreciate a higher level of musicianship’s via the nostalgia of vgm but played as jazz complete with great solos and even with strings eg. Secret of the Forest played by The Consouls with a string quartet
@@cooldebt great point you've articulated! Thanks!
Dang dude, Bill's solo was so good. Was a reference to the first but with much more maturity and flavors. Everyone did great!
A truly remarkable piece. Mr League is without doubt one of today's leading composers As for the Flugelhorn solo - well!! The best Fluge player since Freddie Hubbard, without doubt! And of course, and as usual, Cory Henry pulls no punches... T H A N K S ! ! !
What an amazing song! Love to hear a "new" take
This piece Is just!!! Just fkIng GORGEOUS❤❤❤❤❤❤
It's a shame you can barely hear the guitars and the bass. Even during Michael's solo, he could barely be heard.
Those instruments aren't meant to be highlighted throughout the entire song or this iteration of it... You absolutely can hear Michael's bass riffs during Cory's galactic moog synthezier moment. I take that back, not only can you hear Michaels bass you can feel it.
@@tiwantiwaabibiman2603 Yeah, Michael's bass can be heard pretty well from Cory's solo until the end of the tune, and he does some pretty cool stuff...
But you can't possibly use the "this instrument isn't supposed to be highlighted in this section" argument and expect me to accept it in the bass' case when said section is the literal bass solo.
Such a different and beautiful version!!!
I love this song and this entire album. I listened to this entire album while driving through Delaware, kept me awake. The new mixing most definitely give it a new dimension, amazing! Please post “The Clearing” soon. 😉
Almost cried.
The piano thing.
The Curtain is an easy top 10 favorite of all music ever for me. Maybe top 5. I listen to it at least once a month. This month I came searching for it and found this alternate take, which I didn't know existed.
I love it. I love so much about it. The solos are all uniquely different, but no less passionate. I really dig that Corey Henry and Michael League didn't just play entirely differently, they used different effects and sounds too. I love the alternate camerawork as well. Just everything about this feels right as an alternate take. Perfection in a second form.
All that being said, please give us back the original too.
Absolutely gorgeous! 🙏🏻
Thank you, what a treat!
This is my favorite of y'all's songs, and this is a gift.
Es increíble. Un montaje brutal, debió ser muy exigente para que todo sonara tan impecable. Saludos desde Colombia. Congrats
so cool to hear different versions of the soli.
Omg, I didn't know I needed this, but I did. Great stuff!
Let’s goooo we have a live version again
My favorite part is the piano solo. And now I was very surprised. Here and in the old studio recording, these moments are very sensual.
Epic production! Sounds wonderful
This one is also beautiful, but where has the original gone? 😮
estando tan acostumbrado a la versión anterior, puedo notar porqué no sacaron esta primero. Se me hace raro, pero es fascinante.
Oh man, what a beautiful thing to feel the same emotions than in the original take but with sutil changes depending on who we are in a specific moment. Is true that in this take there are more doubts, but those doubts are genuine for sure, and thats the whole thing, thats the thing to reach.
Its been a long time without Silva online. Is something that I re-hear every month. And each one of the times I cry. I cry silently and in a very specific way which repares my soul.
Thanks for every piece you do!
This song is amazing...
That... was in a League of it´s own (pun intended)!!! Taking the original to a universe beyond...
Outstanding!
Super cool to see an alternative take, but could you please reupload the original? It's one of my favorite performances ever, it's sad to see it no longer on the site.
This is just a bonus to promote the release of the remixed and remastered version on May 24. Just a gift from them.
this is my fav piece
最高です。笑顔のまま涙が止まりません。
ten years have flown by.
Sublime! Merci🙏🤎❤
The Curtain (from alternate universe)... still beautiful
My favorite song!!!
Great stuff!!
This to me seems like an earlier take than the one on the released track. I much prefer the original. The solos, transitions, mix, and nuances/improvisations are all more musical and compliment the composition far better. That just shows how good these guys are, they heard this take and instantly knew what to do to make it a complete masterpiece. Especially Sput on drums, he knew exactly what to change about his grooves from this take to the original one. He’s such a masterful player, his accompaniment to Jay in the flugalhorn solo is amazing.
Snarky Puppy siempre tiene estas cositas que me encantan.
4:55 I love how much more present the gong and bass drum were in the original, it feels super awkward in this take and I’m glad they made it the way it is.
WOW. The differences to those who know are unreal.
1:46 every time I hear this I have goosebumps
Sylva-CoolAlbum👍👍👍
😊 ✨
Crlh, mudou a mix e agora parece outra música!!! F# demais!!!
Na verdade é outra versão, os solos mudaram tmbm..
ahh thank you the other versions are cut or edited :D
super bonus
I really like the OG release...but I REALLY like this version😭🔥
More like this please. :-)
Incredible! Sylva part 2 anyone? 😅
Maybe some day 🤞
I remember when I first heard this. I realised, I’m not a musician. I’m just someone who can put some notes together on a piano. These are musicians, true genius on display that takes you on a rollercoaster ride. I’m so glad 10yrs on we get more on this…🥳
Miss this 😢
Different from the original post, but excellent all the same! My absolute favorite song!!!
@@Nick-mt4wk Ah ok, that is relief, I was getting ready to frantically back up all videos they hadn't replaced yet haha
In a “Stranger” thing kinda world. This is my fave group in the upside down world.
Why did you take down the other performance? It was one of my favorite videos ever. Please re-upload it, Bill's solo is much different here and I really love the other version but can not find it.
This is just a bonus to promote the release of the remixed and remastered version on May 24. Just a gift from them.
fucking love this song
Was this recording put on a grid for mixing? It's so much "tighter" than the original, in a bad way IMO. SP's other live stuff sounds so much more natural.
The Curtain, now with added ME. (Can only be a good thing!)
Will the original video be coming back?
Yes :)
I truely respect everyone in works of this project .. but you should put the original back up ... this is the joy of life you are taking away from people that just discovered the song ... i remember 10 years before that i listened to this for the first time was a truely unique experience .. no matter what you want to do its you owning the rights of the songs .. but you cant take away from people the experience of the first time you hear of the original .... you shouldnt take away that emotion.
This is just a bonus to promote the release of the remixed and remastered version on May 24. Just a gift from them.
"BONUS"?! Be still my beating 💓!
Cory’s synth sounds so rad. Total 70s prog vibe.
YES! So glad someone else said this. If I didn't know who this was and you didn't tell me when it was recorded, I would have guessed that it was Keith Emerson playing that solo!
Nice to see this take. Seems the only one from the session we attended in the audience. The first session out of four. AFAIK, none of that first one made it to the album/DVD. Nevertheless, one, if not the most memorable musical experience.
DUDDDEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!! WTTTHHHHHH???!!!!
If this didn't bring me out of my creative block in my art studio I don't know what would have?!!! For reals!!! I couldn't stop dance long enough to draw the figure on the board on my easel.
When Cory came in with is alternate universe kosmic Moog synthesizer riff I had to just shake my head - and start dancing more!!!
No offense to Brotha/Lion Sput, I would have loved to hear this with Larnell on the drums!!! Just sayin...
Again, DUDES!!!
Find it well, subtile sometimes superbe. Thx u
somptueux...
