When Angelina smiles the whole world smiles with her!
Well, "I was very young, I started at 1-1/2". Do you remember your first song? " Uh, I started with jazz". Questioned on the "View" at age 8, then performing, "Fly me to the moon". Reminds me of her winning performance on Norway's Got Talent at age 7/8. Prior to the performance, Angelina said, "I love to sing and I am going to show you this tonight". She was born for it!!!
Fil, we smile too. Louis sang it, Duke sang it, Nat sang it, Benny sang it, Ella sang it, Billie sang it and Frank sang it.

From age of 2 or so AJ would walk around with a tablet listening to music that she was selecting, often jazz, on TH-cam. Once she heard Billie Holiday she was hooked and AJ said the if not for Billie there would be no AJ. Of course, she is on video laying in her crib with a microphone singing a Whitney Houston song at age 18 months so she got an early start and already had a well defined sense of musical taste. Almost can't say that without being incredulous even though it is all true. Don't seem to be any rules or limits for child prodigies. Her family was wise and stayed out of her way for the most part, just giving her essential moral guidance and insuring that she got as normal a life as could be arranged .. they seem to have been wildly successful. Having an grandmother who was herself a child prodigy and was very active in AJ's life was clearly greatly beneficial as well. Got to give credit to her uncle as well since he is her manager and knew the industry enough to help protect AJ. None of that is to take away from her mother who is clearly highly supportive but also fiercely protective of AJ having a normal childhood. (check out her interview following AJ's win of NGT). Angelina's knowledge and understanding of these classics. Her musical historical knowledge and again understanding is immeasurable. She was 12 or 13 here with her mentor behind the camera, Grandmother Mery Zamani. What other 12 or 13 yr old has even heard of Billie Holiday? Angelina has studied and listened to these classics on repeat since she was at least 3 yrs old. Her knowledge and comprehension of this music history is far more exhaustive than any average person alive today. She is the truest student of this history as her grasp of and ability to convey this very essence of these classics to the audience is unmatched. ♥👣👸🏻🎷

She doesn’t go back a couple decades, she goes back to the 40’s and 50’s which are 70-80 years ago!
Angelina's grandmother played jazz records in the house so Angelina was exposed to Jazz beginning shortly after birth - of course, according to scientists, babies in the womb can hear exterior sounds, so maybe she heard jazz even before birth.
I've always thought this is one of the most under-appreciated recordings of Angelina's pre-teen years, but there's no information about it on her official TH-cam site, so unless another fan has tracked down the details, perhaps from Twitter or Facebook, it remains a bit of a mystery. Is she miming to a recording made at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival, or did her grandma go to the considerable expense of re-recording the band and Angelina's voice in a proper studio? Awesome reaction and she heard Billie Holiday when she was 3 and as they said was sold! Her Grandma is a big Jazz fan, and A.J. became a huge fan of it too. No one tells Angelina what to do, it's all her choice. They just support her and her mom knew her voice was special and when she enrolled her in music school she told the teachers, "Teach her only Theory and How to Protect Your Voice", she has technique down. In fact she was more advanced technique wise than the teachers at age 4, yes she is self taught! Rusty Schackelford made a new list with 162 songs, you can easily see which ones you haven't reacted to, even though she now has 180, God Bless!

And yet another edit... Angelina is really doing honor to Billie. She is doing the same style, and really for my memory the same voice (I'll have to listen again to Billie next) .... but yes, this is very honorific. Angelina was meant to grace this world with this talent.

Angelina was introduced to jazz by her grandmother Mery who played it when Angelina was young. Angelina then studied all the jazz greats on You Tube from what I read starting from the age of 3 and fell in love with the voice of Billie Holiday. Of course we all know there is a video of Angelina singing along with a Whitney Houston song when she was 1 and a half.

Well, she was exposed to jazz in the family and loved it. She was born with the musical intelligence and ear for it. Figured out the doing of it on her own. But as this video shows, there was much appreciation for the school and its attached music program in her early years. That video of her in a recording booth at age 6---that is a school booth, so those children in that program got exposed to some practicalities at quite a young age. I love this video and it looks like you are starting the day smiling and happy. 💜

Yeah this is bound to make you smile: a happy song, a cute video and of course her singing! Sh’s made her own choices from young on but she is probably influenced as in ‘hey listen to this, I think you’ll like it’. Her grandmother was and is a big influence. Listening to this version, she might have been inspired by Louis Armstrong.
