    Spartan Race - Rope Traverse training exercises
    The rope traverse is an obstacle many have trouble with, and requires a substantial amount of upper body strength, grip strength endurance, core strength and coordination to complete successfully. Rhythm and timing is the key to a good traverse, and staying out of the water will help that overall grip on the rope.
    One of the biggest troubles with the rope traverse, is actually getting one to train and practice on. Here is a short video, showing some basic exercises to help out, and to train some specific movements and strength for the traverse, even if you don't have one to train on.

    Great training video! In the Spartan Beast in Vermont I did exactly what he says not to do, dragging your ankles over the rope. Now I have two big scars on the backs of my ankles as a constant reminder of all the fun I had.

    I did my first mud run last weekend and this was the only obstacle I couldn't beat. I wish I had watched this video before.

    Awesome video you guys! I'm gearing up for the Trifecta for 2016 and shooting to qualify for the OCRWC next year as well. Been recording the entire journey on my channel, would be pumped if you had any input I can add to my training to get me geared up. Again, awesome video!
