    • @thatpart
      @thatpart 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      PONCHODAGOD Marlo had this disturbingly calm and clear vision of endgame. The only thing that stirred real emotion is when someone used his actual name when they spoke ill of him. It's like a pure form of evil, not tainted. American dream turned on its ear.

      Not sure about that. But would have loved an expansion of Brother Muzone's charactor. If you looking to fascinate yourself with the game, I'd agree with your statement. But a guy like me, much rather look for the representation of the full spectrum of what brother's all about to include brothers like Bro Muzone. Growing up in Brkln, and hanging out with my college buddies, I know brothers who fit the Bro Muzone profile . Many of whom have become attorneys and now members of profession. It would have made for real good television.

    Every scene matters in this show. The Wire one of the most beautifully written, acted, and realistic portrayals of the social commentaries and dysfunctional institutions that betray most of these characters. If this show is being used as curriculum in universities than you know the significant importance that The Wire has bred on the sociology,politics,education,economics,and media.

      Chris Martinez I was only joking. I took that quote from a Barrack Obama parody.
      What you said in your first comment is 100% correct. In fact, I believe that several actors from the show visited Harvard in Massachusetts to speak to students about the social aspects that The Wire had to offer. Like every season showed a different type of decay on society in Baltimore.

    • @StayFrost224
      @StayFrost224 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Was the parody on SNL? I think I heard that before haha. Yeah man this show had an amazing message, the education system in season 4 was the best imo.

    • @TheWireFan-ur7wq
      @TheWireFan-ur7wq 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Chris Martinez Nah I heard it off a video on YT. I think Season 3 was the best because of the Barksdale - Stanfield war, but Season 4 had the best message. The decay of the Educational System and the neglect of the Urban "Street" kids.

Thats why in the scene the night before he dies, Avon asked him casually(but awkwardly) where he was gonna be tommorow, Avon tipped him off. No need to be loyal after what Stringer did to D'angelo.

    Omar uses so many techniques that go unnoticed by a lot of people. A good example is how he went after Wee-bay and the other guy. Omar says "Hey now..." like he would to a friend and the guy reacts like you would expect. He isn't startled, he's curious who it is - which is the second that Omar needs to get the jump.

      sopranos = novel, make believe, an exageration and glorification of what NJ mafia ever was (you can watch the real NJ mafia talking about it on YT) they just a bunch of low lifes belive me... high quality TV series non the less, the writing, casting, acting, plots, locations ezz ezz top notch, but a make believe non the less
      the wire = based on the work of a guy who was living among police, david simon, no make belive, streets as they are...
      not much to say here, the wire stands alone in a genre of his own, thats why its unique,, the sopranos is just on the top 3 tv series ever made if you want, the wire is just not on that list :)

    • @bobmiter3045
      @bobmiter3045 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bunch of low lives? They are the real gangsters as opposed to the small time dope fiends who work the streets. I think the realism of the wire is over exaggerated wi characters such as the Greek and Brither Mizoune being completely out of place, as well as Omar strolling the streets without getting shot for so long. Sometimes e wire focused too much on the social message of the story that they forgot to make it entertaining e.g. Season 4

    • @Delightfully_Bitchy
      @Delightfully_Bitchy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      People would complain about the all new cast and time period adjustment that would inevitably have to happen.
      The show would also have to start from scratch, since the original show was one big continuous story about Baltimore and they can't continue anything seemlessly after that big of a tjme jump. If they were going to bring it back on any level, a spin-off or spiritual successor would be best.

      @@Delightfully_Bitchy The Wire is phenomenal because from beginning to end It’s just a series of events rather than a structural story per season, the city just continues on and another season would do great only with a few returning characters to justify it being in the universe.
      However returning characters from the streets would feel contrived considering the fact that no one in the game in the first 5 seasons were old for a reason and had great symbolic meaning.

      @@sassythesasquatch6847 The fact that you thought The Wire was "a series of events rather than a structural story per season." tells me you didn't get the show at all. One of the taglines was literally "It's all connected."

    • @sassythesasquatch6847
      @sassythesasquatch6847 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Delightfully_Bitchy You misinterpreted the ending and possibly my meaning, the connections were how every facet of society from the criminal sphere, dockworkers, schools, newspapers, politics and law enforcement all co-exist and influence each other, one big system full connections (wires), the series derives it’s name for the characters like mcnulty and many others who think just focusing on one wire will fix things but the machine keeps going unchanged.
      The entire story doesn’t have anything that could be related to your average story structure imo which is why it’s so special. No characters but bubbles gets redeemed but far from any contemporary narrative structure but far more realistic and human. Only delving into characters is the only thing i can think of.
