I rely on the wind is a song that is part of his first album released in 1978. It was one of his first compositions during daydreams in high school in Dole. Thiéfaine mentions that it is “the only one my mother heard, because she died shortly afterwards”. It was therefore composed before 1972.
The style is different from the current writing: romantic but already cynical and disillusioned ("Having wanted to live with me / You wasted two years of your life / Two years hanging on your cross / ...").
