An absolute buy. Love Hickman. He did great things in this series. The Maker is one of the best villains in the Marvel Universe as a whole. I'm all for more Ultimate Universe titles. I really want the Humpries/Fialkov stuff that followed. That stuff looks cool. Take care and peace.

But the writers he helped bring into marvel to help run the Xmen Line turned around and vetoed him thus he left the series and Xmen went to ruins for a good few years now. His Avengers, and Fantastic Four runs are fairly complete and comprehensive eras.
@@epcarter6 with Ultimates he was going to do this huge multi year thing, part way through he was offered the Avengers gig so he ended his first year with the help of the next writer. Sadly the next writer dropped the ball and never lived up to Hickman’s first year. Hickman picks a few of his potential ultimates threads up at the end of Avengers going into Secret Wars. Marvel straight up ruined his X-men plans so he ditched the line.

Marvel also scrubbed a lot of Hickman’s interviews when he was launching X-men that shows he had a three act plan and that you only had to buy his titles for the main story, and the other titles were for if you were interested in the characters in those titles. It is a shame the current editors at Marvel don’t tell their writers no, and allowed Hickman to get veto with how popular and comprehensive his other stuff is.

I recommend you to skip X-Men and Elektra, completely unnecessary (and really bad). One could argue X-Men is essential for Ultimatum, but that comic itself is horrible
I really hope they do collect everything Ultimate in Omnibus form cause it's why I started collecting comics. Ultimate X-men introduced me to Ultimate Spidey and Spidey got me into Ultimates and Ultimates got me to FF.
Read these in my lead up to Secret Wars although I read Hawkeye after the Ultimates run whoops. Really liked Ultimate Thor. Read it before and it still stands up. Great take on Thor.
Looking forward to this one, as currently reading Hickman's sagas, so got told to grab this for between Fantastic Four (currently reading Vol 2) and his Avengers run. Seeing the _First read_ recommendations for this title though 😐 nobody told me how complex comics were 😩 (don't get me wrong, loving what I've tackled so far). Grabbed Secret Warriors and Secret Invasion yesterday to help give me further insight ahead of moving forward (as well as Dark Avengers, Siege, etc).
Never thought we'd actually get this one - I've been voting for it in Tigereyes' omnibus poll for years. Will be extremely satisfying to have the entire "Secret Wars Saga" in oversized format (save for the SHIELD minis, I guess, if you count those) and I can't wait to give it all a re-read when I have them all together.

We know Ultimate Fallout had content from Bendis, Hickman, and Spencer. If all of Hickman’s is here, I bet all of Bendis’ will be in Ultimate Spider-Man Omni Vol 5. That leaves Nick Spencer’s Ultimate Comics X-Men. But his run of 12 issues, plus 1/3 of Fallout isnt enough for an omni. Maybe, Brian Woods’ work would be included 13-33, 18.1? And Jeph Loeb’s Ultimate Comics: X 1-5? In conclusion, let’s get an “Ultimate Comics: X-Men Omni” that is not tied to one writer. 😇
I still own the double issues of his run that were published by Marvel México. It was the first comic book run I read along with the second volume of Uncanny X-Men from Kieron Gillen that was also being published here at the time. Thanks to both I quickly realized superhero comics are mess that often get ruined by crossover events and terrible writers. The resolution of that first story arc was a huge disappointment and I still can't believe how stupid it was. The moment Esad Ribic is no longer drawing is when it gets bad.

This is an underrated Gem of a series. It is a shame Hickman left so soon and didn’t see the whole thing through.
Is this a thing that he does? I just started reading the Krakoan era for X-men and I heard he left in the midst of that project as well?

Loved this run. The first Hawkeye and Ultimates had a crossover part where you saw a conversation from both sides. I was in!

Hard pass on this one. Doesn't seem bad, but not for me. Only thing in the Ultimate universe that has my interest is Spiderman.
