    Awesome choice for a truck for gigging! They are reliable, and aweosme on gas for the long drives. I have a trusty old 04 GMC canyon crew cab, bodystyle kinda similar to your truck, and its been a life saver in many ways. Congrats on your purchase and on your success sir!

    I like the Tacoma. :) The wash LED lights seemed a little meh though. Color changing and fading just didn't have much sparkle/pizzazz. I'm always very critical watching my own videos, and I think you do a great job. I'd just throw in something sparkly. I like to use a Chauvet mini Kinta to compliment my washes. They're not too chaotic, and have interesting patterns. I've run a powered speaker, mixer, and dual wireless mic set off my car's power outlet for an outdoor ceremony by a lake before (didn't know there was no power there till I arrived). Weddings are fun! :)

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found over time that wedding crowds really can care less what lighting there is as long as there is some. And they prefer it to be subtle. Like here I wash the ceiling above them. Indirect lighting tents to be more willing to allow people to come up and dance. Just my take

    • @davebrownentertainment7191
      @davebrownentertainment7191 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, people don't really seem to care much what you use, and keeping the bright lights out of their eyes is best (I try to get my lights up high, shining down, aside from the uplights around the room). I really enjoy your videos. You've inspired me to make some positive changes. 5th year now of DJing. :)

      Technically it could yes. But this is a truck software program thing. It switches the output power internally between 400 and 100 watts. I have a switch with lights in the came that indicates what power it is outputting.

    I can not explain how much I hate Skrims on tripod stands as soon as I pressed play that was the first thing I noticed. I would prefer a simple trust totem with or without a skrim is fine or at least a flat plate speaker stand. Just My opinion, Now if you're looking for a distraction away from your DJ booth you can't go wrong with Skrimed tripod speaker stands!

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check out newer videos. I agree a lot with this. I typically will only use black skeins with typods now to try and hide them. Or white if the walls are white. But no lights.

      Yes if I had know it was gonna be the full hall (normally for this size at this venue they divide it up) I would have ran at least 1 of my prx 712s wirelessly to provide back fill to the back half.

    For future purchases of your lights, I would use your camera to chick for that flicker. Weddings that may be recorded may have the same results with the videographer not realizing that it affected the recording. Some bride may blame you for ruining their video through that technical oversight. I would imagine the newer and better DMX lighting in the future will have that resolved, but just keep it in mind. Lastly, all went well for you that night and I'm glad. I would, however, liked to have seen you be more present in the center of the hall as the people came in, the dance floor would have been in view as the party came in, and during wedding placement would've been on the left of the bride and groom from their dinner table so that they could enjoy the night with the dance floor in view from their table. Less work for you to run and address any issues that would have come up and you would have more of a presence since you are the entertainment for the evening. With all that same situation I would have spread the speakers apart 12ft more and toed them in a little. This would have spread the lights and would have increased the energy of the music volume since you are not blasting the music from all the way from one end of the venue. Great job though!

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with your placement idea. But the dance floor is permanent on the hall. And like I said normally they dont open all 3 segments up like that. Which it would have been a better layout if it was just the one closest to the dance floor.

    Hey Rick,
    I‘m Braveen from Germany. I will become very soon a mobile DJ. I have some questions about your light setup.
    I like your light setup. I don‘t recognise which lights were used in your setup. And what lights do you recommend to beginner DJs. And I would buy also two pair of Mackie Thump 15A. Are they good for a beginner and are these speakers suitable for this crowd or are they too low?
    You do a great job and you are with Bayardo (DJ BARR) one of my inspiration persons for my future career.

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only lights used here are 2 chauvet wash fx2s (on top the speakers) and 3 ADJ mega tri par plus (under the scrims and on my table. And mackie thumps could do this crowd if the room wouldn't have been so huge. And I have videos on best beginner lights and speakers

    400w of power, you will be amazed how loud your setup could get on 400w, I've seen an EV ZKX speaker run ear pearsingly loud with tons of bass and they were barely consuming 80w.

      So true, I am amazed by the efficiency of Class D amplifiers. Newer ones are even more efficient, however they can't compete with Class I amplifiers!! I've been choked by 4 dual 18s running Full blast from a single Crown i-tech 4000 without breaking a sweat.

    I don't really like how the wash fx flickers in a way, when you dimmed it. An UB from ADJ might be better, because you wouldn't have to dim it. Nice job though.

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I noticed the refresh of the washfx is significantly lower than others, I was wondering what effects that might have. I bought 2 of them anyways and as you said it doesn't flicker in person. But it could be an important thing to consider for those that might be concerned about video appearance. Thanks for having the first video that shows it!

      Here in SoCal, we play reggaeton in almost every gig. But you're right, it depends on the crowd. White people would beat you up if you play Banda and Corridos.
