And it definitely hindered him from making genuine relationships and earning the jury's respect. Xander takes his loss with humility and grace which is nice. Despite what some say, I loved Survivor 41 and would put it in my top ten seasons of all time, and big part of why that is because of Xander. Love you brother, and I can't wait for the day you come back!❤🤘
I'm glad Xander was the only remaining Yase, out of all of them he deserved it the most. They all constantly plotted against him while he was the sole reason the four of them made the merge.
Yeah I think because he was always on the bottom and going to tribal on Yase where as Erika was on a tribe that physically domianted and never went to tribal until Sydney got voted out.
Maybe or maybe the perception of the jury became reality, even though it was not completely true. Erika may have talked a lot about strategy and be friendly, but in reality Xander was always in a worst position since the start. Besides that, there were clear bitter jury's members such as Richard and people who for reasons beyond the game would never vote for him.
I think we saw a lot. The thing is it’s pretty obvious in the players perspective he was doing nothing while from our POV he was talking to the camera. Erika took a lot more control and was pinned as a threat to win by more players than he ever was before FTC even came around
Very entertaining player, pretty astonishing he managed to claw to final 3 and I wouldn't hate to see him back one day, but I don't think I watched the same content as the people saying he was robbed. He played an exciting game that was also extremely loosey-goosey for the first half, had to play possum for a long time, was deemed enough of a non-threat that there became no onus to even flush his idol, and then *completely* bombed any chance he had at a win by misreading the jury as badly as we've ever seen and putting the eventual winner in the final 3. If he puts himself in fire with Erika, dispatches her himself, and then knocks it out of the park at FTC he might have legitimately gotten there...but he didn't do that, and he paid for it. Don't blame Erika for beating your golden boy, blame the editors for giving less evidence than they could have. The winner of a season is the one who played best to their jury that season and had some measure of good luck to get there (of which Erika had plenty, I'm aware of that).
Tony used the exact same strategy and yet he's considered one of the best ever? Erika didn't seem to be doing much of anything, Xander was in on all of the same votes she was but also had to go through a lot more early on to get there

100% on his gameplay. And hell even beyond that, I found Xander pretty bland and boring both pre season and during the show. This is just one of those huge fan favorites on the show I've never gotten the appeal of at all. There's about 9 or 10 other people at least that I liked watching over him in 41. And yeah, like you said the claims of him being robbed and the ridiculous go fund me page set up for him to reward "the TRUE winner of Survivor 41" are just utter insanity LOL. He didn't have any agency with anything he did, even when he had opportunities to put himself in a better social standing, greatly showed his lack of social awareness with misreading the jury and how he comes across and needlessly dangled his idol in the face of an easy consensus boot for being a big threat who knew he was already going home in Ricard and totally losing any shot of his vote as a result. What do people see? What did he actively do that was good outside of the baseline strategy of playing possum on paper and the idol fake out at the Sydney tribal? Both Erika and Deshawn played better than him imo although Deshawn played far from perfect as well. In fact, Xander has even said post season how in a F3 of him, Deshawn and Heather, it's not a guarantee he'd win like most believe. Unless he put himself and Erika in fire and took her out. Also the several claims of Erika only winning cuz she's a woman of color is very out of pocket and downright disgusting. Those claiming that really need to knock that off and do some serious checking of themselves. Like you said, every winner of their season, deserved to win that season. And although it was true that several jurors would've loved for a woman to win, it's been confirmed that Erika did not have most of those votes on lock simply because of her being a woman.

Plus needlessly dangling his idol in Ricard's face at F5 was a TERRIBLE look. He rightfully got 0 votes, he played the weakest game of the 3. Deshawn didn't play great either, especially from F8 on, but at least he was in power and had some say in what happened, even if his game was severely flawed, especially in the home stretch. Also, even if what you claim about the jury is true (except Deandra is not a person on the jury so I can only assume you didn't actually watch the season LMAO) a jury can vote however they want. It's up to the finalists to convince the people they voted out to vote for them. The bread and butter of Survivor. It's on Xander for not doing what he needed to do. He didn't play that good of a game. Basically Dean's game from IOI. And even then, at least Dean had a pretty damn good FTC performance where he was able to earn 2 votes. Xander couldn't even do that. It's also important to keep in mind that 41 had less days, thus less time for the jurors to truly separate themselves after being voted out and reflect. So it was a bit more raw for them emotionally going into FTC, which is definitely a valid factor to consider.

Xander was out of the loop on half the votes LOL and didn't use his resources effectively to get himself into power or fight for his allies in Tiffany and Evvie and work to save them. Plus this isn't the Cagayan jury. Even if Xander did play a Tony esq game (which he didn't) that doesn't mean it works with the jury of 41. Completely different people with a different set of values.

She asked him a question about social awareness, basically giving him an opportunity to talk about him duping her on a silver platter, and she even joked about it. The only person who seemed salty was Shan, and it was against DeShawn. He just didn’t play the best game there because if you read in between the lines, Erika was the one making things happen from Naseer’s vote to the end.

Lastly, Tiffany herself has spoken out about how Xander did not want to speak to her post-merge and seemed bitter about it even in her question to him at FTC. Evvie is salty because Xander did not use his idol to save her. The whole time all the women on Yase were trying to get Xander out so I don't know how they expect him to be obligated to them.

Because even after Xander taking out that advantage and holding onto his idol, nobody ever cared to take a shot at him because he wasn't seen as a threat, which was correct imo. Idol or not, people were not interested in taking a shot at Xander. And after doing that move to supposedly protect Evvie and Tiffany, he just immediately dissociates from them afterwards and as a result, loses any chance at getting their jury votes. And to add to that, even if that move did impact anything in the game (which as I just said, it didn't), it wasn't even Xander's idea LMAO. As we saw in the flashback in the episode, it was Evvie and Tiffany telling him what to do with the idol and the fake right there as they're exchanging. So his supposed "move of the season" wasn't even his move LMAO. The move not only wasn't even his move but it also impacted nothing moving forward. So yeah, bravo Xander! 🙄I don't understand what people see in it outside of some fun lines and memes at that tribal. Nowhere near the actual move of the season imo in Erika and Ricard leading the vote against Shan.
I think he has the most potential of the whole cast, I think he got pretty unlucky, showed tons of game ability and still made the final 3, to me the best player of the season and a Top 30 One Time Player easily
He is a smart guy as he goes to Chicago university, but his ability he demonstrated in the game has lacked the most out of a lot players actually. He is a bottom mid tier runner up, nowhere even close to top 30 one time players. Only time in the whole season he got unlucky is with the beware advantage, he still should’ve made decisions and took initiative earlier in the season and not gotten rid of Abraham earlier on the season and getting snowed by Evvie. Other than that he gets lucky with Erikas hourglass, lucky the votes splitted the way they did that tribal, lucky Deshawn had a meltdown the next tribal and made them vote tiffany, and lucky again when the tribes split. Erika for obvious reasons has more game ability and potential shown in the season, she’s a lot more logical and savvy when it comes to her thinking process. Evvie Tiffany Danny Heather and Ricard haven’t shown what they’re fully capable yet and definitely have a lot more potential on a future season than Xander.
Wasn't surprised he didn't receive any votes, certain factors weren't his fault, clearly personal biases came into play. However he also had some poor jury management on his part. 1. Tiffany: revealed in post interviews she left the game mad at Xander because he refused to talk to her. 2. Evvie: Pre bio states she hates men, desperately wants a female winner, also left feeling shafted by Xander for not playing his idol or extra vote for her. Naseer: His loyalty is with Luvuu, he didn't spend much time with Xander as he did with the other two finalists. 3. Shan: No real connection build with her, her intentions wanted a person of color to win regardless. 4. Lianna: She secretly likes Xander but is too afraid to show it, would never vote for him for the same reasons has Shan. Danny: Loyal to his closest ally Deshawn Ricard: He is openly an activist for marginalized groups because of this he strongly wanted a female or person of color to win before the game started. Was mad at Xander for not playing his idol on him, giving him false hope and taking Erika instead of Heather. Heather: Xander unintentionally gave her a back handed compliment by referring to her as a goat, even though he clarified his remarks you could tell she was slightly offended and uncomfortable. Ironically, If Sydney made jury, she probably would've been the only person willing to vote for him. Xander celebrated when she got voted out, saving Evvie who unknowingly was never going to vote for him to win, since she has feminist views.
i 100% agree with everything you said. I loved Xander as a character this season but he messed up his game big time. Erika was the winner hands down and it sucks that the editors didn’t show more of her story with Heather

I believe he was up at all times when the tough challenges took place, there's one challenge particularly where this effort and tribe support from him to the entire group was showed & the fact at the end none of the members of the tribe gave at least one single vote, it turns out ungrateful.
I was and still am very unhappy with Xander not winning. He stood out more than most in that season in my opinion and he had a good heart full of love for everyone. He was a good kid and never fought or made enemies with anyone and I feel Erika's game was just less impressive and she didn't even stand out most episodes until she broke the hourglass.
taking erika to the end was his worst decision, i was shocked when she went to make her pitch for why she should be taken to the end with xander & he immediately agreed. probably would’ve won if he did the fire making challenge vs erika and beat her but she did play a good game.

I went into this season thinking he was gonna be a total tool, but he ended up being my favorite. Legitimately the only player I'd be happy to see return from this season. Everyone else was meh at best to me.

That was because this season was way HARDER and much SHORTER than previous seasons, they did not get the comfort and respect from Jeff and the production team that the previous seasons had, like i hated the do or die twist and i hated that the final 5 had to start over at another beach! Erika was easily the right winner I mean with that final 3, Erika played ten times better in my opinion. Ok, so see why Xander lost - In pre merge, Yase lost one more challenge and Xander 100 percent leaves whereas there was eaisly a chance Erika could survive if Yase lost - In final 12, he does make a massive move there but Evvie and Tiffany have claimed that it was actually their idea - I don't think taking out Tiffany and Evvie was the right move from him and it left them bitter. - Xabder does take out Liana but that decisipn literally just came down to Erika and Heather. - Xander wanted Deshan gone but that does not happen - Erika was the one that won Immunity and found the advantage and Xander saying he would play the Idol for Ricard...not a good sign - Taking Erika to the end was a terrible terrible terrible terrible read - His jury eprformance and answer to social awareness...not good. However, it was a pleasure to watch him this season he's sucha sweet guy ❤ Now, Erika 's game. She spent 2 days on exile and was TARGET NO.1 and then she obviously has the hourglass twist. Her relationship with Ricard keeps Heather in the game, she orchestrates the split vote in the Shan boot, is the swing vote in the Liana boot, Takes out Danny over Deshawn, wins immunity to take down Ricard and finally I'm sure she did some convincing for Xander to save Erika. So, she was the easier choice here hands down. She was also on the right side of every vote while Xander was on the wrong side for the first THREE votes. Erika's game was a lot like Victoria from EOE winning and honestly I would loveeee to see her play agaon just because I think she will be underestimated

I think had Xander played the endgame differently, he has a better chance of winning this season. Hypothetically: Let's say after the Shan vote, Liana still goes home but instead Xander doesn't play his extra vote and it's 4-3 with Liana going home. Ricard wins immunity at Final 6 and it's still between Danny and Deshawn for elimination. Xander plays his extra vote and votes for Danny with him going home 4-3 despite Deshawn's truth kamikaze to drive a wedge between Heather and Erika. Final 5 advantage is still found by Erika but Ricard comes back to win the challenge (would be his 4 and putting him within striking distances of the record), Xander tells people he's playing his idol just in case which makes sense as it's the last time he can play it. Ricard, Heather, Erika, and Xander are voting Deshawn as he is on the bottom. But Xander has other ideas, Deshawn wants Erika out and Xander at tribal council plays the idol for Deshawn with Erika going home 2-0. Xander wins Final 4 immunity and guaranteeing him as the youngest player to ever reach the Final 3. Tells everyone to practice fire to not ruffle any feathers. At tribal he takes Heather and puts Deshawn and Ricard in fire making, Deshawn beats Ricard by seconds and Ricard is eliminated in 4th place. Now at the final 3 with the moves that Xander has made towards the end, his argument of winning this game looks way better. Again this is a scenario as to how his game would look had he made some better choices strategically. What do you guys think? With this scenario, does Xander win against Deshawn and Heather with his corrected endgame moves? Would the jury respect him finishing strong and balling out and taking risks at the very end? Personally, I think Xander wins in this new scenario maybe 6-2 or 5-3 but that's just me.
@@TremblingQualifier the first winner of survivor was a gay dude, juries in the past have never voted based on race or sexuality rather on gameplay and who outplayed everyone. There have been plenty of minority winners just CBS has not casted a lot of minorities in the past compared to white people up until now so it would make sense less minorities do make it to the end if there wasn’t a lot of minorities on the cast in the first place
@@cadecurran9644 race and sex have an unconscious bias on how the jury perceived somebody and what their “gameplay” was like. For example somebody like Eddie Fox from caramoan could’ve won despite having probably one of the worst players to ever make it that far against dawn because she was viewed as an emotional older woman, when she was dominanting the season along Cochran. We clearly saw the results of the show and FTC and it’s clear they voted based on gameplay.
It's obvious why Xander didn't receive ONE VOTE. The jurors never perceive him as a threat with an idol.. and extra vote. He never initiated any moves. His strategy was "anybody but me". And he failed to articulate his answers to the jury. Xander represents the saying: "Nice guys finish..."
I would think anybody but me if I was a straight white dude on a season all about race. And considering all other white dudes got canned I would probably assume if I was Xander that I’m prob on the chopping block next

You hit the nail on the head. Xander played a very 4/10 game. Yes, he got to the end and nobody can take that away from him. But he did little to nothing in his time to get himself into a better spot socially and burned all his resources.
The jury is the game period. He wouldn’t win with a different jury because that means he would have to play with different players. However even a jury like EOE wouldn’t respect his game being out of the loop nonstop and when he was in the loop he was following others plans, he played a game similar to Lauren OConnell

Me neither but by the end I think she proved it. If you rewatch Xander’s episode about the KIP, that move was done by all Tiffany Evvie and himself, not just him. He just made the call not to use the idol and had the fake idol as extra security. If anything he almost messes this up by telling Danny he knows about Lianas advantage and he’s playing the idol on Evvie, that made him look sketch as fuck since Liana already knew he had it.
I don't think that's true at all. He voted incorrectly like half the time after the merge. After Sydney went home he apparently dissociated himself completely with Yase, burning Evvie and Tiffany. Then after the Evvie vote people realized that he was nothing but a number because he had no social capital, he was picked up by the majority and taken to 4. He teased using his idol on Ricard and then decided not to which guaranteed Ricard wouldn't vote for him. In addition, people saw his sitting out post-merge as superficial and for strategy. If you read the exit interviews it's obvious nobody respected him.
I doubt it, in the first half he voted incorrectly and he actually forced himself in that position at that merge move with Evvie when he could’ve tried to move the target to somebody like Sydney. He would then be saved by chaos at tribal at the next vote as he was supposed to go in the revote and he won an clutch immunity win which at the same tribal he voted incorrectly. After that he is Ricards loyal footsoldier and hides it by saying he’s his shield and instead of voting him out at 7, he didn’t, that move only benefited Erikas game because she was a bigger threat. And at the final 5 he flirted with the idea of playing the idol on Ricard and then takes Erika to the end? I’m sorry but Erika undoubtedly played a game miles ahead of him, he didn’t lose 7-1-0 for no reason, he just did nothing noteworthy the whole game. His only move which was tricking Liana was given credit by Evvie and Tiffany by Tiffany getting info for the move and them telling him to give the advantages to Tiffany, all he had was an fake idol. Not to mention he almost ruined the move by telling Danny, giving Danny time to split the vote just in case
@@spamzon8716 he voted incorrectly because people chose to exclude him and then were asking him about social awareness. His tribe Yase were filled with women trying to get him out the whole time! What loyalty does he owe to them? Still he tried to help Evvie but then found out that Evvie had told Deshawn about his Idol. They broke his trust and tried to get him out so he had to fight so hard to win group immunity challenges so that they would not go to Tribal. He was not only competing against other tribes a challenges but within his own tribe. I think one of his mistakes is offering Ricard his Idol, I think in the moment he truly considered it but should have never said anything unless he was going to actually use it on him. Xander did make some mistakes but not ones in my opinion that should have cost him the game.
I think Xander was a good player. Although I think his downfall was bringing Erika to the final, i think the fact that he didn’t want to add to Erika’s resume was a valid reason and if he sold himself to the jury more he could have had a more fighting chance at the win. Maybe there was more to the conversation we didn’t see, but I feel like he didn’t bring up points that he should’ve such as his immunity wins and could have done more to sell himself.
He played well but basically pulled a Woo at the end. Reading the post game interviews, he has a pretty legitimate shot of winning against Deshawn and Heather
i hate how people are showing hate to erica,xander and the jury. they keep saying erika dint deserve to win but like she did. She had easily one of the best jury management, she was also on the right side of votes the entire game and for xander, he played a very good game but he dint really do any big moves this season. he should have flipped on ricard during 7th vote off then used his extra vote to vote out danny in final 6 . it would have gave him a power position of whether heather and erica or liana and deshawn. he could have done an extreamly good endgame move. He will prob go with heather and erika and vote deshawn out prob. depending if liana or xander wins, i dont know that since liana might have pulled a clutch win and win immunity. but if xander wins immunity, its most likely that he brings erika to the finals and its liana vs heather which eitherway it will be a erika vs xander. if he did all those, its likely that he might have a higher chance to win. but if he takes liana or heather to the finals and the other 2 compete for fire, erika goes then he could easily win this game for pulling off moves
What are u talking about he was underdog the whole season, didn’t get to vote, won two immunity challenges, forced liana to use her advantage on a fake idol. @@finnburke2709 Erika was completely responsible for the Shan and Danny votes by putting them together. Shan was the biggest threat at the time and she saw Danny had more win equity than Deshawn so pushed to keep the vote on Danny and save Deshawn. Erika did way more than Xander who did nothing but waste his idol, burn his relationships with Yase, do nothing to get himself out of that underdog position and into a position of power, and thoroughly lacked game awareness regarding everyone's win equity. Xander with the fake idol play to burn Liana's advantage was a fun move, but that's literally all he did. And even then, the move meant absolutely nothing afterwards because he just immediately left Tiffany and Evvie to the wolves and therefore lost their respect. And he did absolutely nothing with his idol. How did he play a good game that "should've won"? Like were we watching the same season? I agree that Erika should've been edited better but even just looking at Xander's game by itself, he didn't really impact a single thing that happened all season and was easily one of the more irrelevant players that made merge this season.

Erika was also the main person who put the Shan and Danny votes together and was able to hide her threat level enough that Xander wasn't aware of how impressive her game was to the jury. She also had a great relationship with Ricard. And when Xander needlessly dangled his idol in his face, it basically locked in Ricard's vote for Erika. Erika's game might not have been the most entertaining, but it was smart and worked perfectly for her. She definitely deserved to win.

Yeah, I've never seen so many openly racist and sexist people. I knew when I saw the jury that Xander didn't have a chance. He didn't get a single vote, even though he should have won in a landslide. Australian Survivor is way better than the American version. People can see for themselves, it’s now available on Paramount Plus. The contestants are way more likable and they actually have to fight and struggle. Plus the challenges are so inventive and refreshing. It feels like the American one just uses the same ones over and over again.

No, Xander got as many votes as he deserved. He didn't play a good game at all due to his passive and unaware gameplay. Any jury votes he could've gotten such as Tiffany, Evvie and Ricard, he totally burned by dissociating himself and/or dangling his idol in their faces. He blew it on his own terms and Erika just played a smarter and stronger game.
Honestly I think Xander just got very unlucky this season his tribe was against him from like day 3 those women all wanted him out and yet they’re bitter at him for not saving them? Granted he had bad jury management but realistically even before final tribal he wasn’t getting Votes from Shan Liana(they hated his guts) Danny or Heather that’s half the jury. He did have a legendary move with faking out Liana I don’t care what y’all say that plan was his he made the fake idol came up with the plan and used the info Tiffany gave him. That said he made 3 game ending mistakes. 1 not saving Evvie at F9 Liana would have gone and then he could have used his extra vote to spearhead the Shan blindside instead of Erika. 2nd dangling the idol in front of Ricard which guarantees he doesn’t get Ricards jury vote. 3 not making Erika do fire. If he pulled a Chris Underwood he might have had a chance. So to conclude Xander was awesome to watch but it’s pretty clear why he didn’t win
Xander didn’t make the plan at all. There is literally no evidence he ever came up with the idol fake out, like we literally never see him at any point single handidly own up to creating the plan. From footage alone we see Tiffany Xander and Evvie executing . Tiffany came up with the plan with Evvie from the information she got. Xander virtually did nothing all game but watch Evvie and Tiffany leave back to back and follow their plan at the Sydney boot. After that he does nothing, like his literally only move was putting heather against Deshawn.

Maybe or maybe the perception of the jury became reality, even though it was not completely true. Erika may have talked a lot about strategy and be friendly, but in reality Xander was always in a worst position since the start. Besides that, there were clear bitter jury's members such as Richard and people who for reasons beyond the game would never vote for him.
I think we saw a lot. The thing is it’s pretty obvious in the players perspective he was doing nothing while from our POV he was talking to the camera. Erika took a lot more control and was pinned as a threat to win by more players than he ever was before FTC even came around

Very entertaining player, pretty astonishing he managed to claw to final 3 and I wouldn't hate to see him back one day, but I don't think I watched the same content as the people saying he was robbed. He played an exciting game that was also extremely loosey-goosey for the first half, had to play possum for a long time, was deemed enough of a non-threat that there became no onus to even flush his idol, and then *completely* bombed any chance he had at a win by misreading the jury as badly as we've ever seen and putting the eventual winner in the final 3.
If he puts himself in fire with Erika, dispatches her himself, and then knocks it out of the park at FTC he might have legitimately gotten there...but he didn't do that, and he paid for it. Don't blame Erika for beating your golden boy, blame the editors for giving less evidence than they could have. The winner of a season is the one who played best to their jury that season and had some measure of good luck to get there (of which Erika had plenty, I'm aware of that).
Tony used the exact same strategy and yet he's considered one of the best ever? Erika didn't seem to be doing much of anything, Xander was in on all of the same votes she was but also had to go through a lot more early on to get there

100% on his gameplay. And hell even beyond that, I found Xander pretty bland and boring both pre season and during the show. This is just one of those huge fan favorites on the show I've never gotten the appeal of at all. There's about 9 or 10 other people at least that I liked watching over him in 41. And yeah, like you said the claims of him being robbed and the ridiculous go fund me page set up for him to reward "the TRUE winner of Survivor 41" are just utter insanity LOL. He didn't have any agency with anything he did, even when he had opportunities to put himself in a better social standing, greatly showed his lack of social awareness with misreading the jury and how he comes across and needlessly dangled his idol in the face of an easy consensus boot for being a big threat who knew he was already going home in Ricard and totally losing any shot of his vote as a result. What do people see? What did he actively do that was good outside of the baseline strategy of playing possum on paper and the idol fake out at the Sydney tribal? Both Erika and Deshawn played better than him imo although Deshawn played far from perfect as well. In fact, Xander has even said post season how in a F3 of him, Deshawn and Heather, it's not a guarantee he'd win like most believe. Unless he put himself and Erika in fire and took her out.
Also the several claims of Erika only winning cuz she's a woman of color is very out of pocket and downright disgusting. Those claiming that really need to knock that off and do some serious checking of themselves. Like you said, every winner of their season, deserved to win that season. And although it was true that several jurors would've loved for a woman to win, it's been confirmed that Erika did not have most of those votes on lock simply because of her being a woman.

Plus needlessly dangling his idol in Ricard's face at F5 was a TERRIBLE look. He rightfully got 0 votes, he played the weakest game of the 3. Deshawn didn't play great either, especially from F8 on, but at least he was in power and had some say in what happened, even if his game was severely flawed, especially in the home stretch.
Also, even if what you claim about the jury is true (except Deandra is not a person on the jury so I can only assume you didn't actually watch the season LMAO) a jury can vote however they want. It's up to the finalists to convince the people they voted out to vote for them. The bread and butter of Survivor. It's on Xander for not doing what he needed to do. He didn't play that good of a game. Basically Dean's game from IOI. And even then, at least Dean had a pretty damn good FTC performance where he was able to earn 2 votes. Xander couldn't even do that. It's also important to keep in mind that 41 had less days, thus less time for the jurors to truly separate themselves after being voted out and reflect. So it was a bit more raw for them emotionally going into FTC, which is definitely a valid factor to consider.

Plus this isn't the Cagayan jury. Even if Xander did play a Tony esq game (which he didn't) that doesn't mean it works with the jury of 41. Completely different people with a different set of values.

Jealousy and saltiness. Ricard is salty because Xander did not use his idol on him, Liana is salty because Xander embarrassed her by fooling her to use her advantage and giving her a fake Idol at tribal, and Tiffany is salty because Xander would not speak to her post-merge because they would be seen as a threat.

She asked him a question about social awareness, basically giving him an opportunity to talk about him duping her on a silver platter, and she even joked about it. The only person who seemed salty was Shan, and it was against DeShawn. He just didn’t play the best game there because if you read in between the lines, Erika was the one making things happen from Naseer’s vote to the end.

Lastly, Tiffany herself has spoken out about how Xander did not want to speak to her post-merge and seemed bitter about it even in her question to him at FTC. Evvie is salty because Xander did not use his idol to save her. The whole time all the women on Yase were trying to get Xander out so I don't know how they expect him to be obligated to them.

Because even after Xander taking out that advantage and holding onto his idol, nobody ever cared to take a shot at him because he wasn't seen as a threat, which was correct imo. Idol or not, people were not interested in taking a shot at Xander. And after doing that move to supposedly protect Evvie and Tiffany, he just immediately dissociates from them afterwards and as a result, loses any chance at getting their jury votes. And to add to that, even if that move did impact anything in the game (which as I just said, it didn't), it wasn't even Xander's idea LMAO. As we saw in the flashback in the episode, it was Evvie and Tiffany telling him what to do with the idol and the fake right there as they're exchanging. So his supposed "move of the season" wasn't even his move LMAO. The move not only wasn't even his move but it also impacted nothing moving forward. So yeah, bravo Xander! 🙄I don't understand what people see in it outside of some fun lines and memes at that tribal. Nowhere near the actual move of the season imo in Erika and Ricard leading the vote against Shan.
I think he has the most potential of the whole cast, I think he got pretty unlucky, showed tons of game ability and still made the final 3, to me the best player of the season and a Top 30 One Time Player easily
He is a smart guy as he goes to Chicago university, but his ability he demonstrated in the game has lacked the most out of a lot players actually. He is a bottom mid tier runner up, nowhere even close to top 30 one time players. Only time in the whole season he got unlucky is with the beware advantage, he still should’ve made decisions and took initiative earlier in the season and not gotten rid of Abraham earlier on the season and getting snowed by Evvie. Other than that he gets lucky with Erikas hourglass, lucky the votes splitted the way they did that tribal, lucky Deshawn had a meltdown the next tribal and made them vote tiffany, and lucky again when the tribes split.
Erika for obvious reasons has more game ability and potential shown in the season, she’s a lot more logical and savvy when it comes to her thinking process.
Evvie Tiffany Danny Heather and Ricard haven’t shown what they’re fully capable yet and definitely have a lot more potential on a future season than Xander.

Wasn't surprised he didn't receive any votes, certain factors weren't his fault, clearly personal biases came into play. However he also had some poor jury management on his part.
1. Tiffany: revealed in post interviews she left the game mad at Xander because he refused to talk to her.
2. Evvie: Pre bio states she hates men, desperately wants a female winner, also left feeling shafted by Xander for not playing his idol or extra vote for her.
Naseer: His loyalty is with Luvuu, he didn't spend much time with Xander as he did with the other two finalists.
3. Shan: No real connection build with her, her intentions wanted a person of color to win regardless.
4. Lianna: She secretly likes Xander but is too afraid to show it, would never vote for him for the same reasons has Shan.
Danny: Loyal to his closest ally Deshawn
Ricard: He is openly an activist for marginalized groups because of this he strongly wanted a female or person of color to win before the game started. Was mad at Xander for not playing his idol on him, giving him false hope and taking Erika instead of Heather.
Heather: Xander unintentionally gave her a back handed compliment by referring to her as a goat, even though he clarified his remarks you could tell she was slightly offended and uncomfortable.
Ironically, If Sydney made jury, she probably would've been the only person willing to vote for him. Xander celebrated when she got voted out, saving Evvie who unknowingly was never going to vote for him to win, since she has feminist views.
i 100% agree with everything you said. I loved Xander as a character this season but he messed up his game big time. Erika was the winner hands down and it sucks that the editors didn’t show more of her story with Heather

I believe he was up at all times when the tough challenges took place, there's one challenge particularly where this effort and tribe support from him to the entire group was showed & the fact at the end none of the members of the tribe gave at least one single vote, it turns out ungrateful.

I was and still am very unhappy with Xander not winning. He stood out more than most in that season in my opinion and he had a good heart full of love for everyone. He was a good kid and never fought or made enemies with anyone and I feel Erika's game was just less impressive and she didn't even stand out most episodes until she broke the hourglass.

I went into this season thinking he was gonna be a total tool, but he ended up being my favorite. Legitimately the only player I'd be happy to see return from this season. Everyone else was meh at best to me.

That was because this season was way HARDER and much SHORTER than previous seasons, they did not get the comfort and respect from Jeff and the production team that the previous seasons had, like i hated the do or die twist and i hated that the final 5 had to start over at another beach! Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Erika was easily the right winner I mean with that final 3, Erika played ten times better in my opinion. Ok, so see why Xander lost
- In pre merge, Yase lost one more challenge and Xander 100 percent leaves whereas there was eaisly a chance Erika could survive if Yase lost
- In final 12, he does make a massive move there but Evvie and Tiffany have claimed that it was actually their idea
- I don't think taking out Tiffany and Evvie was the right move from him and it left them bitter.
- Xabder does take out Liana but that decisipn literally just came down to Erika and Heather.
- Xander wanted Deshan gone but that does not happen
- Erika was the one that won Immunity and found the advantage and Xander saying he would play the Idol for Ricard...not a good sign
- Taking Erika to the end was a terrible terrible terrible terrible read
- His jury eprformance and answer to social awareness...not good.
However, it was a pleasure to watch him this season he's sucha sweet guy ❤
Now, Erika 's game. She spent 2 days on exile and was TARGET NO.1 and then she obviously has the hourglass twist. Her relationship with Ricard keeps Heather in the game, she orchestrates the split vote in the Shan boot, is the swing vote in the Liana boot, Takes out Danny over Deshawn, wins immunity to take down Ricard and finally I'm sure she did some convincing for Xander to save Erika. So, she was the easier choice here hands down. She was also on the right side of every vote while Xander was on the wrong side for the first THREE votes. Erika's game was a lot like Victoria from EOE winning and honestly I would loveeee to see her play agaon just because I think she will be underestimated

I think had Xander played the endgame differently, he has a better chance of winning this season. Hypothetically: Let's say after the Shan vote, Liana still goes home but instead Xander doesn't play his extra vote and it's 4-3 with Liana going home. Ricard wins immunity at Final 6 and it's still between Danny and Deshawn for elimination. Xander plays his extra vote and votes for Danny with him going home 4-3 despite Deshawn's truth kamikaze to drive a wedge between Heather and Erika. Final 5 advantage is still found by Erika but Ricard comes back to win the challenge (would be his 4 and putting him within striking distances of the record), Xander tells people he's playing his idol just in case which makes sense as it's the last time he can play it. Ricard, Heather, Erika, and Xander are voting Deshawn as he is on the bottom. But Xander has other ideas, Deshawn wants Erika out and Xander at tribal council plays the idol for Deshawn with Erika going home 2-0. Xander wins Final 4 immunity and guaranteeing him as the youngest player to ever reach the Final 3. Tells everyone to practice fire to not ruffle any feathers. At tribal he takes Heather and puts Deshawn and Ricard in fire making, Deshawn beats Ricard by seconds and Ricard is eliminated in 4th place. Now at the final 3 with the moves that Xander has made towards the end, his argument of winning this game looks way better. Again this is a scenario as to how his game would look had he made some better choices strategically. What do you guys think? With this scenario, does Xander win against Deshawn and Heather with his corrected endgame moves? Would the jury respect him finishing strong and balling out and taking risks at the very end? Personally, I think Xander wins in this new scenario maybe 6-2 or 5-3 but that's just me.

@@TremblingQualifier the first winner of survivor was a gay dude, juries in the past have never voted based on race or sexuality rather on gameplay and who outplayed everyone. There have been plenty of minority winners just CBS has not casted a lot of minorities in the past compared to white people up until now so it would make sense less minorities do make it to the end if there wasn’t a lot of minorities on the cast in the first place

For example somebody like Eddie Fox from caramoan could’ve won despite having probably one of the worst players to ever make it that far against dawn because she was viewed as an emotional older woman, when she was dominanting the season along Cochran. We clearly saw the results of the show and FTC and it’s clear they voted based on gameplay.
It's obvious why Xander didn't receive ONE VOTE. The jurors never perceive him as a threat with an idol.. and extra vote. He never initiated any moves. His strategy was "anybody but me". And he failed to articulate his answers to the jury. Xander represents the saying: "Nice guys finish..."

You hit the nail on the head. Xander played a very 4/10 game. Yes, he got to the end and nobody can take that away from him. But he did little to nothing in his time to get himself into a better spot socially and burned all his resources.

However even a jury like EOE wouldn’t respect his game being out of the loop nonstop and when he was in the loop he was following others plans, he played a game similar to Lauren OConnell

Me neither but by the end I think she proved it. If you rewatch Xander’s episode about the KIP, that move was done by all Tiffany Evvie and himself, not just him. He just made the call not to use the idol and had the fake idol as extra security. If anything he almost messes this up by telling Danny he knows about Lianas advantage and he’s playing the idol on Evvie, that made him look sketch as fuck since Liana already knew he had it.

I don't think that's true at all. He voted incorrectly like half the time after the merge. After Sydney went home he apparently dissociated himself completely with Yase, burning Evvie and Tiffany. Then after the Evvie vote people realized that he was nothing but a number because he had no social capital, he was picked up by the majority and taken to 4. He teased using his idol on Ricard and then decided not to which guaranteed Ricard wouldn't vote for him. In addition, people saw his sitting out post-merge as superficial and for strategy. If you read the exit interviews it's obvious nobody respected him.
I doubt it, in the first half he voted incorrectly and he actually forced himself in that position at that merge move with Evvie when he could’ve tried to move the target to somebody like Sydney. He would then be saved by chaos at tribal at the next vote as he was supposed to go in the revote and he won an clutch immunity win which at the same tribal he voted incorrectly. After that he is Ricards loyal footsoldier and hides it by saying he’s his shield and instead of voting him out at 7, he didn’t, that move only benefited Erikas game because she was a bigger threat. And at the final 5 he flirted with the idea of playing the idol on Ricard and then takes Erika to the end? I’m sorry but Erika undoubtedly played a game miles ahead of him, he didn’t lose 7-1-0 for no reason, he just did nothing noteworthy the whole game. His only move which was tricking Liana was given credit by Evvie and Tiffany by Tiffany getting info for the move and them telling him to give the advantages to Tiffany, all he had was an fake idol. Not to mention he almost ruined the move by telling Danny, giving Danny time to split the vote just in case

What loyalty does he owe to them? Still he tried to help Evvie but then found out that Evvie had told Deshawn about his Idol. They broke his trust and tried to get him out so he had to fight so hard to win group immunity challenges so that they would not go to Tribal. He was not only competing against other tribes a challenges but within his own tribe. I think one of his mistakes is offering Ricard his Idol, I think in the moment he truly considered it but should have never said anything unless he was going to actually use it on him. Xander did make some mistakes but not ones in my opinion that should have cost him the game.

I think Xander was a good player. Although I think his downfall was bringing Erika to the final, i think the fact that he didn’t want to add to Erika’s resume was a valid reason and if he sold himself to the jury more he could have had a more fighting chance at the win. Maybe there was more to the conversation we didn’t see, but I feel like he didn’t bring up points that he should’ve such as his immunity wins and could have done more to sell himself.

i hate how people are showing hate to erica,xander and the jury. they keep saying erika dint deserve to win but like she did. She had easily one of the best jury management, she was also on the right side of votes the entire game and for xander, he played a very good game but he dint really do any big moves this season. he should have flipped on ricard during 7th vote off then used his extra vote to vote out danny in final 6 . it would have gave him a power position of whether heather and erica or liana and deshawn. he could have done an extreamly good endgame move. He will prob go with heather and erika and vote deshawn out prob. depending if liana or xander wins, i dont know that since liana might have pulled a clutch win and win immunity. but if xander wins immunity, its most likely that he brings erika to the finals and its liana vs heather which eitherway it will be a erika vs xander. if he did all those, its likely that he might have a higher chance to win. but if he takes liana or heather to the finals and the other 2 compete for fire, erika goes then he could easily win this game for pulling off moves

Shan was the biggest threat at the time and she saw Danny had more win equity than Deshawn so pushed to keep the vote on Danny and save Deshawn. Erika did way more than Xander who did nothing but waste his idol, burn his relationships with Yase, do nothing to get himself out of that underdog position and into a position of power, and thoroughly lacked game awareness regarding everyone's win equity. Xander with the fake idol play to burn Liana's advantage was a fun move, but that's literally all he did. And even then, the move meant absolutely nothing afterwards because he just immediately left Tiffany and Evvie to the wolves and therefore lost their respect. And he did absolutely nothing with his idol. How did he play a good game that "should've won"? Like were we watching the same season? I agree that Erika should've been edited better but even just looking at Xander's game by itself, he didn't really impact a single thing that happened all season and was easily one of the more irrelevant players that made merge this season.

Erika was also the main person who put the Shan and Danny votes together and was able to hide her threat level enough that Xander wasn't aware of how impressive her game was to the jury. She also had a great relationship with Ricard. And when Xander needlessly dangled his idol in his face, it basically locked in Ricard's vote for Erika. Erika's game might not have been the most entertaining, but it was smart and worked perfectly for her. She definitely deserved to win.

Australian Survivor is way better than the American version. People can see for themselves, it’s now available on Paramount Plus. The contestants are way more likable and they actually have to fight and struggle. Plus the challenges are so inventive and refreshing. It feels like the American one just uses the same ones over and over again.

No, Xander got as many votes as he deserved. He didn't play a good game at all due to his passive and unaware gameplay. Any jury votes he could've gotten such as Tiffany, Evvie and Ricard, he totally burned by dissociating himself and/or dangling his idol in their faces. Honestly I think Xander just got very unlucky this season his tribe was against him from like day 3 those women all wanted him out and yet they’re bitter at him for not saving them? Granted he had bad jury management but realistically even before final tribal he wasn’t getting Votes from Shan Liana(they hated his guts) Danny or Heather that’s half the jury. Xander didn’t make the plan at all. There is literally no evidence he ever came up with the idol fake out, like we literally never see him at any point single handidly own up to creating the plan. From footage alone we see Tiffany Xander and Evvie executing . Tiffany came up with the plan with Evvie from the information she got.
Xander virtually did nothing all game but watch Evvie and Tiffany leave back to back and follow their plan at the Sydney boot. After that he does nothing, like his literally only move was putting heather against Deshawn.
