Loved this! My Momma and Daddy moved to Omaha and an elderly German woman that lived next door taught this recipe to Momma. She made it so often, and now I have introduced my own kids to it. Good stuff!!
Dan, I knew you were of German ancestry. In the very first video of yours, that I watched, you made a dish that my Mom absolutely adored. It was your, Gram Gram’s Beef Rouladen. My Mom was German, Austrian, & Polish. Mom never made it this way; I'll have to try it. Thank you. Happy Holidays to you & yours.
I'm German but have only had Rouladen once. Thanks for showing this because I assumed it was much harder to make but I might be able to do it. Looks fantastic btw!
This cooking channels so good Dan o u were literally made for this! I also miss my grandma man I feel you ur not alone, Merry christmas keep ur head up!
Dude, a few things. Only S&P and nothing else from the herbs and spices. The pickles need to be sweet, as the Germans make them and not salty and sour as yours. And no, there is no yellow English mustard, but some German mustard in it (Mittelscharfer Senf). Same reason as the pickles. Also, you smear it on the meat and don't leave these mustard sausages whole, so it is the second step after S&P. You approached it, but it is not the same taste when done.
I love how you share your Granny's recipes from time to time! Looks very delicious well done! Your making her proud up there for sure ❤
