I come back to this scene, this scream, every so often. If this doesn’t make you feel a visceral pain to know you are a feeling, living person, I don’t know what will. I’ve been watching movies, TV series, telenovela, anime, jdrama, krama, indie and European cinema for nearly 40 years. This is hands down, no contest, the best anguished scream I’ve ever heard. Her performance is INSANE.
That scream of pure angusih from the sudden loss of the womans husband and kid is something that has stayed with me ever since i first watched the film , its sooo god damn realistic (pardon my language) i dont think we ll ever see something like that ever again.. simply raw and amazing
So I first watched this movie expecting it to be a thrilling horror film similar to the likes of A Quiet Place. I was wrong. The movie was even better, based completely in gloom. This is easily one of the saddest things I’ve ever watched, and it’s not that common in horror to see something this emotional. Just fantastic work put into it.
@@officersmiles9114 how? If anything, it shows they're paranoid just as most people would be in a situation like this. I think killing her after her baby was the best thing. He did it because he lowkey felt bad and it’s torture to keep her alive just to suffer through the grief of that. Now there together I guess
The teenage son is the worst character (best written worst character) in a movie since Charlie Bucket’s grandpa in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
People talk about how absolutely incredible and realistic Riley’s scream is, and while this is 1000% accurate, the thing that makes this scene is the music/tension that builds and builds and builds all the way UNTIL he shoots the baby. Then just the gut wrenching scream.
Honestly the main family had every right to kick them out, and the other family didn’t exactly make themselves very trustworthy. If they had left, they could have come back later and stolen/killed them. I know Travis was at fault for getting everyone infected, but the other family shouldn’t have been allowed to stay and the father also snuck in a gun, showing he wasn’t a sure bet on keeping around.
They pretty much said in the movie if the couple come they couldn’t leave. Pretty much it was an unspoken death sentence, if they ever decided to leave. The family can’t risk their location being discovered by others so don’t go there cuz they will kill to protect what is theirs.
@@PRIDEfc88 True there is no way out. Thads why Will had the gun in the first place hiden. The point is he should have shot at the door at Paul. Then he could have a shoot out and a 2v1 .. Bc Travis thad bich son did.t fight anyway. I don.t know why Will did.t shoot at the door opening.
I mean they couldn’t risk them coming back with others and stealing from/killing them. Plus, the other dad (forgot his name) was shown to be lying about his past and also snuck in a gun so he couldn’t be trusted. Honestly it was a bad idea to let the family stay at all, especially with the teen being emotionally unstable and ultimately causing everyone to become infected.
@@gs-vlogsandgamesI was talking about Travis, and he was clearly not mentally mature enough to handle what happened. He went after his dog with no protective gear, infected Andrew by bringing him back to his parents, likely infects everyone else from that point, and wouldn’t help when his own damn parents were being attacked.
Paul did what he had to do. He knew he made a terrible mistake my letting them in the first place and almost paid the price for it. He killed the kid with the shot but the mother was wailing in agony and did a mercy killing on her to comfort her. He did all the killings himself so his family wouldn't live with the guilt, his wife shot will but only injuring him but possibly a survivable wound but for sure Paul finished him off. He's a father trying to keep his family alive and healthy by doing what's cold bloodily necessary.
@@MortalWombat4480 yeah I agree, his breathing was rough after, he was shot in the back on the lower-ish left side, I don't think it's crazy to think he got shot in the lung. He's not surviving that
lol wtf no, will ain't suriving that. and you can try and spin paul all you like but no one in this bleak ass film is noble or good paul is a killer all the same regardless of his motive plus it was useless anyway since travis dies everyone fucking dies from the virus contracted from gramps at the beginning of the film so there was so there was no fucking point to killing anyone. that's kinda the whole point of the film. good God the media literacy levels are on the floor.

In my mind, this is one of the greatest screams of actual terror/grief I have ever seen on film. Riley Keough did something crazy here
1000% agreed
This is immediately what I thought when watching last night

If you think this was sad, watch "The Road". Another post apocalyptic movie with a father and son surviving on their own.
What a scream
The ending implies that eventually the parents get sick too from Travis and nobody makes it out alive.
It didnt imply anything it flat out shows they're sick

What an actress. Holy wow.
idk it’s between this and the scream from toni collette in Hereditary when she finds charlie’s body
This was all because of Sarah persuading to invite the family to the house. Inviting a stranger family is a terrible idea
Ahhh…. A24 and their screaming moms over dead kids….
