    The best handgun for home defense, is the one I get to first...

      So if the first gun you get ahold of is an NAA mini revolver, that's the best home defense gun?🤔🤔

    So, if you can only have one handgun (for whatever reason), get one small enough to carry concealed. Keep the original mags for carry use and get some extended mags for when you're at home. This checks all of the boxes. If at any point you can get a second firearm, then you can choose between a bigger handgun, a rifle or a shotgun (based on your defense strategy).
    The best weapon is the one you have on you.

      +Ray Haws Definitely. Unfortunately I'm in California, so I can't get the M&P 9c as it's not on the roster (and I just can't seem to warm up to the Glocks). I'm busy trying to decide between the SD9 and the Shield right now. I'll probably end up with the Shield just for the extra concealment advantage but then, I'm also planning on getting a light carbine for the home in the future.

    • @TheCharleseye
      @TheCharleseye 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ray Haws Yeah, I've done a lot of research on it and the SD9. Honestly, if it weren't Christmas time I'd likely already have the Shield. I'm hoping to be able to pay for mine by January 1st. I'm also thinking of checking out the MagGuts kit for it. Gaining an extra round per magazine is a worthwhile investment. Turning it into an 8+1 with an extra 9 rounds in a backup mag makes it more than sufficient as a carry gun for most situations. I've never heard of a civilian using up more than 18 rounds in a defensive situation on the street.
      Thanks for the endorsement. It's yet another that's making it easy to pick the Shield over the SD9.

    I love them all. Glock 17 and/or 21 for home defense because i don't want my $1000+ handgun to be confiscated for the investigation. Sig, SA 1911 Operators/EMP, HK, Beretta M9/92, etc for the range. :D Shotgun(s) for home defense I use the Mossberg 500 and/or Remington 870. Benelli M4 and KSG for the range. :D

    Tops: "Compact" or full sized Glocks in 9x19, .45 or .40 if someone insists, M&P9 or .40 (better option for .40 than Glock) Sig 229, 226, or the New P320 series. HK pistols in all the various configs and calibers, USP, P2000, etc. Could go with a Beretta PX4 or old Beretta 92 (9mm only in the Berettas) If someone still has an old 59 series Smith and Wesson 9mm like the 5906, that's acceptable as well Last, CZ handguns, specifically the P-01.
    Or.. 357 revolvers from Smith, Ruger or Colt with at least a 4'' barrel.

    I have to disagree with that. I have a Mossberg super shorty running those extra short shells and I believe that's probably my best option altho I run a 7in AR15 SBR using the lightest 223 I could tune it for.

  • @LennyDiPaolo
    @LennyDiPaolo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've never heard anyone say this or bring it up, but I am curious about the laser and the light. As nicely as they help you see your target, don't they also telegraph your own position? Please, only responsible gun owners answer. Thank you.

    • @yourfirekiller
      @yourfirekiller 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Leonard DiPaolo if I'm defending my home I won't be taking ninja shots from shadows. That light is gonna smack bad guy in the eyes, he'll hear some LOUD commands, and then be accurately shot in a well-lit environment if he endangers my life. Shooting at someone without seeing them clearly is dangerous and could hurt in court as well.

    • @ryancarmona290
      @ryancarmona290 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leonard DiPaolo Yes, you have to consider how bright these lights are. I've shined my pistol light in my face on strobe (obviously bit attached to a pistol) and I will tell you, I was disoriented for a good while afterwards, and my vision just went away. I know this was probably stupid, but I now know first hand what my pistol light is capable of. Also, I did this from across my living room at night, not directly into my face.

    • @ljohn3239
      @ljohn3239 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Leonard DiPaolo you need to employ proper tactics with you light/laser. You wouldn't pull the gun out and clear your entire house with you light/ laser on the entire time. You'd turn that light on long enough to do quick sweeps and spot checks...not the BS you see on TV.

    • @chief800retired
      @chief800retired 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have an Arma Laser in green and there is no "trail" of light back to the pistol. if you look into the light yes (obviously) and on your target, yes. That;s it. I've tried it at night and it will light up a spot on a neighbors RV from over 100 yards (approx) I haven't tried the red, but I doubt it leaves a trail either. Hollywood just never gets it right, and doesn't the excitement build when you see 20 red lights leading to the bad guys!! LOL

  • @ДмитрийТалышев
    @ДмитрийТалышев 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very disputable choice. As for me the best home defense weapon is a revolver. A very big problem of home defense is in a fact you never really training a home defense when on a range. You are training to shoot, to move, to operate a pistol without home tightness and furniture. Magazine pistol has a lot of non-obvious problem you cant see on a range but they may cost you a life in a real home defense situation:
    - storing your mags fully loaded - possible spring weakness, so failures when shooting, especially on last rounds
    - empty chamber - when your hand is shot or broken you have a real problem with slide manipulations
    - close combat when you touching your enemy - couple of millimeters pressure on slide - and we got out-of-battery malfunction. Also good fighter may unarm you using this out-of-battery feature or/and just blocking by hand ejection port when even if you shot 1 time a brass will definitely block this port
    - shooting from a pocket or through blanket or something like that - again high risk of blocking a brass in ejection port
    Somebody may say - "too few rounds in revolver" - so its a good reason to learn shoot precisely first or even a Glock+SGM Tactical 50 will not be enough
    Somebody may say - "there could be 4 or 5 armed enemies" - well, dont fool yourself, you definitely will be dead even having a minigun if you are alone and if U R not a Bruce Willis )
    Anyway if a situation really needs to have high fire density - there is a good sentence i like - "handgun is just a poor tool to clear a way to real gun - rifle or shotgun"
    But! In addition to written above - speaking about sport - i'm shooting Glock 17 in standard ipsc division )

    I disagree with alot of what he suggest. I'm 70 years old, I've handled guns for longer than hes been alive and I've been in a few situations. In my experience most home defense situations is handled and is over with 2 or three discharges. So, for an elderly citizen a 9mm or 40acp 20 shot clip is so over kill! Half of this country is over 60 years of age so high capacity firearm would just be too much! I own a few pieces but my go to is my charter arm 32 cal revolver. Most home encounters are between 5-20 feet killing someone farther than 20 feet, your arse is going to jail! Guess why? All I know is the distance from my couch to the front door is about 12 feet and I could put 2 in your forehead without getting up! My point to all I've said, practice, placement and very little recoil works for me!

I live in a house with 5 guys all Military all of us have guns never do we aspect each other for intruders when one comes in late from partying, Shit I can tell who's coming in the door by them putting the key in the door when you make it past the door I listen to the way you walk and can Identify you. Get you some nightlights with dark shades gives you enough light to identify in shadows to stay hidden.
