So As you will see in the video, the dragon puffer didn't work out. It was amazing, but I never saw him. Obviously that doesn't make for great TH-cam videos. He was very active and in your face in the shop but i guess thats just because he didn't have anywhere to hide...
Anyway, we now have the pea puffers that were planned all along...I only managed to see a bit of them yesterday before I put them into the tank but already...they are so interesting to watch. I put in lots of snails for them and the hunt is awesome!!!!!
Anyway, let me know what you think below...and remember to always research fish before you buy them. If I had have done that then I wouldn't have got the Dragon puffer as I would have know of there ambush style hunting....this basically means staying still and hidden...

Hey, Marc! Please remember to remove the shells at the end of each day.. pea puffers cant crush the shells and the left over snail meat pollutes the water like crazy
Edit: i use the tweezers to crush the snails ahead of time and they take the meat right off the tweezers.. helps a lot w keeping the water perimeters stable. Also alternate w frozen bloodworms. They love those too

YES! 😊 You finally got them! 🐡 I'm so happy. You made a great decision. I'm breeding them now for wholesale. Remember to remove the dead snail shells. Pea puffer mouths are too small to crush most snails, and what they do is bite off what they can, leaving the rest to decay in the shells. Eventually, you will run into the same problem you had with excess waste and the dragon puffer. Don't worry about the larger snails that they can't eat. Those snails will provide smaller ones for them to eat, and the pea puffers love the hunt. Also, they love bloodworms if you run low on snails. Congratulations and good luck. The aquarium and aquascape look fantastic! And so does the new goldfish aquarium.

Really really like the island aquascape. You made a good decision. The pea puffers are much more active and visible and that is the point of keeping cool fish, to be able to see them and enjoy what they do on a daily basis. Looking forward to updates on these little cuties.

I just bought home the four our fish store had come in. They're EXTREMELY TINY! They're so tiny that the blood worms are a bit much for them. I have the horn snails in there but I'm wondering what else I can do besides micro sized ghost shrimp from my guppy tank. But I only have two of those I can give. I was thinking to do some shrimp eggs or something. I don't have any plants yet but am going to pick up some more planted caves like I have in my guppy tank. Errr my gosh They're so tiny!

Every plant I've removed from that tank and switched over to a different tank has thrived. Nearly 100% certain that it is due to these guys and the mess they leave. Wishing you better luck!

Dragon puffers are really funny because some are super shy and some act more like Mbu and fahaka puffers, like mine is super friendly and curious about literally everything, the only time he really hides is when he is pouting after I do a water change. Lol pea puffers are a great choice though super cute and friendly.

Also moved all three from 10 to 20 gallon once they matured and nothing like that happened at the time either. Never heard that ever anywhere from anyone before now that i think of it. And marc at marc s aquatics breeds them and moves them from tank to tank all the time. Weird comment

    • @FeralMina
      @FeralMina 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Agreed. It's a known thing with puffers. If they should inflate while out of water, they gulp air and then cannot always properly expel the gulped air. This can lead to buoyancy problems and eventual death from exhaustion/inability to feed. They can sometimes be "burped" free of the air with a specific technique, but it's not always successful. Therefore, puffers should always stayed submerged when transferring. Thank you for pointing this out.

PEA PUFFERS!!! YAY! I'm so glad to see you have finally been able to get them! Although seeing them in there I'd say you could get double in there. As long as they are not all males lol. But you wouldn't be able to tell until they got bigger. Either way you should have a lot more fun with these then you did with the dragon puffer!

You might’ve been feeding your dragon puffer too much basically giving him the attitude that he can get fed whenever he desires. To have made him more active you could’ve tried using live fish to make his hunting more active, or only feed him with tongs every other day and he will be super active. Mine comes and greets me at the glass whenever I walk on the room

I got three pea puffers about a month ago. They are interesting to watch, but they also seem to think, that I´m funny to look at. I have my tank in the kitchen, and they are always at the front glass watching me. Unfortunately I seem to have two males, so thats probably not going well as they mature. I have to figure something out, as my fishstore won´t take any back, even if I buy other ones.
And I would also not to keep a fish, never to be seen. But maybe a "Trick-aquascape", like I don´t see you, you don´t see me?

How many Pea Puffer Fish did you put into the tank?
    13:13 I counted 5 Puffers, right?
What is the male / female ratio?
And finally, how many would you suggest for a 15 gallon tank (60l)
