Dude chains saved my ass more then once in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I had a 1989 Toyota pickup with 33" tires it was a tank but chains still saved me. Lol. White mountain national Forest in New Hampshire is my favorite place... Unfortunately many people have died underestimating the White mountains in winter...
Hi Riley! New sub here. :) YT suggested your heating blanket video to me yesterday. This one hooked me in though. Yosemite had been my lifetime #1 Bucket list destination, and my kids took me there this past May for my 60th birthday present. OMG!!!! I cried at Tunnel View, like a little girl. It is hands down, the most beautiful and magnificent place I've ever seen. There is nothing like being there amidst the absolute scale and grandeur of El Cap and Half Dome. Pictures just cannot do Yosemite justice. Been to Acadia in Maine a couple times, it's pretty, if you like rocky ocean shores, but you can get that in Downeast Maine without the 5 hour trip up there, and the crowds. All the better National Parks are in the West, so for a girl from NH, it's a whole vacation and not just a weekend thing. (You lucky ducks out there!!!) Looking forward to checking your channel out. Stay safe in your travels and have fun on your adventures! ~ Karen
That’s an awesome story! Yosemite really is amazing and the beauty is just on a whole other level. Glad you got to experience it in person! I’ll hopefully go east at some point but sticking west for the next couple months
I have a full time 4wd 4Runner with three peak snow/ice tires but the last time I went through Vail pass on i70, I caved to all the signs and just bought chains. Shitty chains at autozone ran me like $200 to my shock too- ended up returning them a day later when I got home to Minnesota lol. Free peace of mind at that point. I'd love to buy proper heavy chains for snow/mud wheeling sometime soon though...
ahh man yeah it's not fun realizing how much they cost. doesn't make any sense lol. Cali really screws you though as they made it illegal to return chains 🤦♂️. Some proper wheeling chains would be dope though just plowing through mud and snow.
@@RileyMonthule : How about Mt Rainer in Washington State? I’ve been there a few times in my life. I couldn’t subscribe the channel didn’t show under the name of Riley. 👍🇺🇸🍕
That's awesome thank you so much. Being able to share my adventures and inspire others is what it's all about. Happy you're liking the videos thank you for watching!
Love it, been up there a couple times in the snow when my kids were babies. Beautiful and fun. Had annual pass for a few years(lived in San Joaquin Valley) so would take off and head up there for the day. I miss it, but can't wait to take my short bus to Yellowstone & Glacier not to far from me in N. Idaho. Safe travels & love your vanagan. Had a '78 transporter😊😉👍❄🌨
That's awesome! Being able to take day trips to Yosemite is a dream. Yellowstone and Glacier aren't too bad either though haha. You had the OG bus! would love one of those one day. Thanks for watching glad you liked the video!
Try Crater Lake in central Oregon. Also visit the Redwoods! The trees are amazing! I think the storm you were in is the same one that nailed southern Oregon. We’ve had no snow all winter which is unusual for us but we got about 14 inches in about 10/11 hrs.

You have to hit Tetons as well as honestly all of the Utah national parks! Olympic and Ranier are both phenomenal if you're stinking to the west coast. If you're staying local to Cali; Lassen, Pinnacles, and Sequoia are my favs :)
This was a great video. I grew up going to Yosemite every year, at Curry with my family. Surreal to be at the tunnel with snow, let alone all to yourself. Zion is my fav, very special like yosemite! Loved this video dude, can't wait to see more of the winter adventures you get into. And stoked to see the diesel heater hold up so strong in sub freezing temps, makes me feel good about sending it to ski this winter! Hopefully run into you for some winter shenanigans starting in February if my van build is done! 🤞
Zion is amazing. Honestly so is all of Utah haha. Thank you man! Yeah the diesel heater has been great once I got the settings dialed. Good luck with the build!
Never used chains, but having a shovel along can get you out of some bad spots when by yourself. A D-handle shovel is what I prefer, but a small military style folding shovel would be better than nothing. One could be strapped to your Hi-Lift jack to save space inside. You seem fairly knowledgeable on driving techniques, but thought I would comment to help the channel, if nothing else.
Hi Riley, have a question about you hoodies. You are mostly wearing an orange one. Which brand is that? And in one of the last videos you wore a lumberjack style hoodie. What brand was that? Would be great to get some info or some links. Love them. Greets from Germany

very very nice again, Riley. Buy a 1000W 12V inverter and a 600 or 800W electric water kettle and you're good to go. You can do your dishes with hot water or wash yourself. I have one in my Marco Polo. Works like a charm.
