Great video DJ as usual. Longton is looking better. Such a shame for the young man, I hope he gets the help he needs. He’s still a human being after all. Respect brother 👍🏻👊🏻

Ironically, when the Wedgewood factory shop was open (just on the left around the corner at 7:21) there were coach tours coming to Longton. Folks used to come and buy the seconds and remnants that Wedgwood were clearing out. Luckily, now it is all made in Indonesia, so there is no need to trouble the public of Longton anymore with pesky visitors and emplyment opportunities. :-(

I can also remember the days when coach loads of visitors from around the country would visit the shopping center when it first opened now we have coach loads leaving the city centre and heading to Manchester or Liverpool instead 😔

@@DJMtv1938 Yep, but franky it is no surprise. Hanley is full of drunks, beggars and the mentally unwell; and it smells like an open urinal. My Dad is 86 and very stuck in his ways. Even he doesn't go Up Hanley anymore. Like he says "what is there for me to go for?" He doesn't want a tattoo, doesn't vape and he has no need for monkey dust. Have you noticed that when giving directions in the town now you usually say where something used to be, rather than where it is? Sad, but all we can do is leave it to rot, there is no saving it in it's present form I think.
      All the best,
      A.

Great video DJ, your right about kids, you can guid them in the right direction in life, but in the end they choose, my niece died of drug and alcohol abuse, her sister became a vicar🤷‍♀️and her brother is working hard, I think it’s who you meet in life that can sometimes make or break you, good to see a slight improvement in Langton.

It's very sad what happens to folks when they become addicted, and I'm sure we all felt bad for that guy.
However, we also get mad when groups of addicts frequent our neighbourhoods, and p^ss and sh^t everywhere, plus leave used syringes around.
It's a tough situation, with no easy answer.

I don’t know what’s it coming to… felt sorry for the guy and Longton again needs sorting out especially the centre and the shops on commerce street come on council 😮
I know Longton so well but no different than any other town with big retail parks that have just gobbled up all the business 😢😢

The business park is the phoenix estate not Tesco car park and don't get me wrong I live very close to Longton and I don't disagree with you things need to change and more needs to be done, excellent video it shows you really care 👍 god bless you stay safe and I look forward to your next video 👌

I shouldn't laugh but I do have to say that that 'retail park' is what has helped kill Longton. I lived up Smith Street in the late 80's/early 90's and it was still mostly the place I remember from when my mum and gran used to go there shopping long ago. I moved back there in the 2000's and the huge car park and stores were in place and the shops were starting to close. And now ... ... ... boy am I glad I sold up and moved out.

There is hope and opportunities in Stoke-on-Trent if you look for it but sadly know where near enough as there should be compared to other Towns and Cities. There is a very sinister side of Stoke-on-Trent that lives around every corner, this and deprivation in the city can really effect people chances of success. Its literally a sink or swim city and you can not afford to waste any positive chances if and when they come your way. Sadly I got the short straw when i left school and the only thing giving me any hope at the moment are my elderly parents and my disability.

If you had a look at the news today, there is a proposal to demolish 30% of East Kilbride shopping zone and move the shops that need it into what's left. This is a brilliant idea I would say, and stoke should do the same. Let's face it, the city will never recover anytime soon, so lets get the bulldozers out and demolish the old shops before more fall down. We could make a nice park on the land that has been freed up. What do you think?

They actually done something similar in congelton they have brought back to Alive a old arcade and made it a buzzing little food hall with food places on both sides and it’s buzzing with a great atmosphere

I can’t believe the amount of people who just walked past him I can understand them to a point but i could not simply walk past someone who looked like they were having a stroke or seizure at first.

@@DJMtv1938 When I was a lad there, somebody would have called an ambulance if anyone looked that unwell. Sadly, these days there are dust heads/alkies/rough sleepers all over the place. If you were to stop and help then you would spend all day there, and with no real benefit to anyone. A few years ago there was a man standing in front of the town hall shouting at the top of his voice and people just walked past. The town hall has been closed for 10 years. We had a man wlking stark naked down the main street on saturday afternoon. Then the man on top of a street advert sign punching himself in the head and challenging passers-by to a fight. Nobody can be bothered anymore it's just got too much, so they just walk past.
