+musicgladiator Recently learned of him through his Christmas show. Realized I've listened to him many times without knowing it. He certainly has a new fan here.
I was lucky enough to have seen him play this one live yesterday in Ocean City, Md. He does a great version of this Hendrix song! Very underated guitarist in my opinion .
Hoey out of his "comfort zone" playing AND singing! I like it! I've been 'following' this guy for years, since he was live on the Lex and Terry radio show in the morning. He makes it sound so easy!
Very impressive...I'm thinking about buying his need For Leads DVD's. If he is half as good as teaching as he is playing then I don't see where I can go wrong...Rock On Gary!!!
hey ledzeppelinfan..gary hoey is very accomplished and have seen him several times and met him...average bar band, simply a great cover, I get the part he wasn't a heavy metal player, but you have have to admit he his one of the top 100 guitarists all time!
Maybe... Or they might be cooking in the sun! You know when the guitar player has to re-tune on stage, "It's HOT baby!!" At times, I get a Joe Satriani like flavor in his playing...
Not even close to the Hendrix tone or style. Jimi Hendrix wasn't a heavy metal player. SRV could play Hendrix. Bonamassa can play some Hendrix. "Foxy Lady" is an easy song to play, especially to anybody who has studied Jimi's style. This is what you'd expect from your average bar band.
Hoey's Foxy Lady is not meant to be in the Hendrix tone or style. comparing Hoey to a local bar band is a sacrilegious act against an american guitar shredding icon. If Jimi were here, he would be booking shows with Gary Hoey, Dick Dale, and SRV, I guarantee.
Gary is an amazing player, and can easily mimic Hendrix tones if he chooses, Mate, so be less critical. Proof: th-cam.com/video/R-1Lwh-sSfc/w-d-xo.html
9 comments? Shows not many people know or care about this artist. He's superb!!!!!! I love his style. Sounds great.

First time I've heard of this guy...I like it
I love Gary's attitude!
Great player! 🤘
His take on the solo was so unexpected, in a fantastic way... Went all psychedelic when most folks just go all out blues.
Gary is awesome!

Hoey is the Man. Check out his Christmas tunes, a favourite at my place during the festive season

Good shit!
Oh, yeah!
loved from 3 minutes on. very cool slow psychedelic trills. I'd like to hear the signature Jimi at least first few thirty notes of the solo.
listen to that.
Dude like his wah pedal, but so did jimmy.
if u are accomplished in your own right ....... nothing follows.
amazing solo, but those were mainly just pull offs for the teeth playing lol :P
that crowd sucks...
Michael Howland Or they were just in awe/speechless.
Maybe... Or they might be cooking in the sun!

im sorry not feeling it
Leave the Jimi covers to Randy Hansen, he is 10000000 times better at it.
Randy Hansen, hmmm, I'll ck him out! Thank you, blues..
Great guitarist. Horrible sound, horrible acoustics
