Rugged. But without the high resolution piece.
Idk why you're saying Sony and Nikon. I'm a Canon user and I'm disappointed lol. No working professional I know has said they wanted more fps. They're pretty happy with 30fps right now and even saying it's too much. They don't need 4 times that amount. They wanted more resolution.
Disappointed based on the leaks so far. I was hoping for 45mp of the R5, more speed, a big battery, GPS, better DR, etc. This is like R3 mk2 to me and not a flagship camera aimed only at sports pro photographers. I hate to consider the dollar lost in dumping my Canon gear, but the Z9 with 45mp for wildlife, landscape, etc. looks really interesting. If Canon thinks the R1 is their flagship, then we're stuck with R5mk2 which they will never add the builtin grip and bigger battery to for wildlife. Nikon still seems to be working on their lens lineup, but the 600mm f4 TC for wildlife looks interesting. You don't have to remove the lens in dusty areas like Canon to get that extra bump to 840mm. I saved enough expecting Canon R1 to be overpriced that I could buy the Z9 and the lens money I saved would get me the 600mm f4 TC. Then if I sell off the Canon gear, maybe enough to fill the other lens like 24-70, 100-400. Being a Canon shooter for 50yrs (saved my money as a teenager) it's hard to jump ship. Any thoughts from those who own the Nikon Z9 and if you owned or use the R5, how is the picture quality, ease of use, etc. compare.
As some one that uses the Nikon Z8 and Canon R3 I would take the Canon ergonomics and AF over the Nikon. Also for someone that does manual exposure I really like the fact that Canon provides real time RGB histogram in the viewfinder. I am not bashing Nikon it is just that each manufacturer has their pluses and minuses.
In the same situation. Seriously considering dumpling Canon for the Z9. Been shooting them for 40+ years and can't accept that they don't offer users a true competitor to the Z9 three years later.
Hey Tony Love your Dog in the back ground. If you guys ever have a chance can you do some tips on shooting pet Photography, Just a thought. Love ya Channel.
Based on the photo leak on another channel, the S9 has the shape of an “influencer” (ZVE-1 style) camera with no EVF. I suspect the Lumix sales pitch will be built around open-gate recording and maybe an auto-crop feature which grabs a 9:16 out of the 3:2 sensor. Now what if that vertical crop is tied to subject tracking so that it “slides” across the sensor to keep the subject in frame? That’s pure speculation on my part, but that would give Panasonic a leg up on the competition. Even the open gate which they have been doing in the S5II will be a big plus.
I use DPP (wasn't aware of a paid denoise subscription? I don't usually use the denoise it has)... I don't love it, but there is something mysterious it does that none of the other pro programs can do in terms of clarity when processing. I tested head to head with the top paid competitors and while they are light years ahead in every other way, the basic lens corrections (chromatic aberration, etc) and resulting clarity were best with DPP... Whatever it is is contained in the "digital lens optimizer" slider. I always assumed they had some inside info on the cameras/lenses/files that allowed this. I use a cheap/entry-level camera, though, so that may play in to this. I do basic/simple development in DPP and then the real editing in Gimp. If somebody gave me a free lightroom license I would still use DPP to do initial processing and then process in LR, just because the images simply don't come out as nice otherwise. TLDR: DPP does suck, but in my testing it seems to have a weird special sauce. If (if) I'm right, it might be worth a video, Tony!
Sounds like a good specialty Pro Sports Camera like the Sony a9III. Not really , a Landscape, are a Wild Life, are Studio camera, Portrait are Wedding Camera. However, that definitely doesn't mean that you can't use it for these other genres that's for sure. There's just other cameras more well suited, for pretty much all these genres. Like the Cannon's R5II, Nikon's Z8&Z9, Sony A7.& more at a better prices
Thanks for the updates. Are you guys planning to review the Sony Xperia Mark 6 That just got revealed today? I hope you can review it vs the iPhone and Samsung.
Hmm DGO sensor.. If its like the C70s 9MP DGO sensor its really good at catching high dynamic range. ARRI alexas DGO sensor is only 6MP Then the 30MP DGO sensor in the R1 looks pretty impressive actually. Canon own and have made global shutters back in the day with their C700 cinema camera, but Global shutter have a lot of limits. Most people hate on the Canon cameras for the specs on paper :) Even Tony did that with the Eos R :P but eventually people try it out and end up buying it 🤣 My guess: - 30 MP full frame stacked dual gain output sensor - 1/1250 sec flash sync time
I like that Canon is taking all the needed time for their new flagship camera. Unless the R1 is really available I'm not disappointed at all. What I saw with the other announcements R5 II (an R9 - RP successor?) and an R7 II I think Canon is doing quite well. Also they announced (finally) a new RF-S lens 18-60 f2.8! This is still Canon's weak point in their APS-C lineup.
I think we all need a 1024 fps camera with 1600 MPx and a 360 deg. recognize it all, instant AF, internal AI RAW processing. Who needs a person behind the camera?!
I think its too early to really guess what the camera will have or not. As far as canon being behind others. Your point on when Nikon released their flagship and it took 2 years to get it "right". I'd rather them wait and get it right out of the gate. At the end of the day we all have our camera systems that we like and don't. I am a canon shooter, but I appreciate what sony, and nikon have as well. Whatever tool we have that can get the job done for our clients is what I use. No client ever cares what camera I am using, what system I have, or won't hire me because I shoot with canon and not a SONY.
Don't expect to see "lots" there. They'll be there, and you'll see images of it in action, but if Canon's not ready to announce specs, then you won't even see the togs using it to talk about it.
Probably very few actually. Canon won't be ready by the time of the Olympics, so they will hand out a few to loyal Canon ambassadors only...so Canon can control the message.
Of course the camera will be really nice!... On the OTHER hand, this is yet ANOTHER 'Please don't buy a Nikon/Sony while we work on our camera' announcement; this is FAR from the first time they've done this... Surely this will be out in 2025... just in time.. for the Sony A1II 🙄🤦 ....
Tony, do you believe there is a dominant or better camera brand to go with? Should there be a reason to go with one over the other? How would you determine if you should switch ecosystems completely?
If you’re a pro, (and I am inferring where you are in your pro journey based on the question) forget brand loyalty, get whatever allows you to do the job at the cheapest price and forget about the camera market for a decade. Your margins are going to be slim, it’s a feast and famine industry so do not spend money that you don’t need to spend. You’ll change systems when it’s cheapest to do so, because something broke and changing systems is the most cost effective way to replace it. If you’re an amateur, get whatever makes you want to get out and take your camera with you, and ignore anyone who tells you that you’ve made the “wrong” decision.
I get the reason to pre-announce it. There’s a lot of brand switching going on in the past several years. But I agree that this press release missed the mark. Too vague on too many levels. It’s almost as if they’re telling people, “If you’re thinking about leaving Cannon, don’t! Give us a little more time, and we promise you’ll like it.”
@@Zenutheduck-to4nr haha exactly the R5 still has far better af than nikon z9. Someone here who switched from Nikon to Canon! I have a R5 and R6 mark ii and both especially the later really do a better job! People often forget about the R6 mark ii! It is way better in low light and much more accurate af than My old z9. I actually think the rf glass is better than the z also. Z glass feels sluggish in comparison, again this is someone who shoots professionally weekly. The z9 is not a bad camera, same as the d5 was or still not is a bad camera but there is a difference in focus speed and accuracy with the rf canons!
Regarding the R1, I think Canon has a glitchy camera that they are trying to fix to avoid another R5 overheating controversy. Hopefully, when released, it will be something truly incredible.
I'm anticipating a cinder block size and weight camera at a price I would never consider with very few features/capabilities of interest that my pair of R5 bodies do not already provide. I am obviously not the target demographic. Canon just made that damn R5 too well!
if the teaser pic is anything to go by, its slightly bigger than an R3. so, a good deal slimmer than the 1DX series and I'd imagine a good deal lighter.
This is a typical early development announcement similar to the R3. Nothing to be disappointed about and if the sensor is the rumored 30-33 MP DGO stacked the R1 has a lot going for it. For wildlife photography at sunrise and sunset I often feel that 45 MP compromises noise and that a sensor in the 30-35 MP range would be ideal. Just my opinion.
If the camera resolution isnt ideal for wildlife and landscape photography, then i dont see it as a flagship camera, they might as well call it the R3 mk2. Both sony and nikon flagship is north of 45mpx, canon doing less will be so disappointing. Its supposed to be the jack of all trades and master of everything. Going the low resolution path is like matching the A9 series instead of the A1. Wildlife shooters are stuck with 1 cfexpress card slot on the R5.
Your definition of flagship is not the same as for canon professional sports photographers, i respect your opinion but if you would just think about how canon segments its camera line you would understand and maybe be less dissapointed: all 1 series had lower pixel counts than 5 series (5div, 5Ds, 5Dr were all above 1d series pixel count), if you're looking for more pixels its definitely 5 series or 6series
@@sarbelv1lo it wasn’t me who said it would be a master of everything, it was canon. Unless we have different understanding of the word “everything”, i think they are contradicting themselves. i can accept the fact that the 1 series is only for professional sports photographers, but that by definition means it is not a flagship which should excel in everything like the A1 and Z9. You can bet canon is gonna reserve premium features for the R1, and wildlife/landscape photographers cant even buy those features even if they are willing to pay for it because those features and bundled up with a 30mpx camera. At the end of the day, the industry standards and common practices are defined by competition, if sony and nikon can make a flagship camera thats great for both sports and wildlife and landscape photographers, why cant canon do the same? If canon is unwilling to match the competition, they better be ready to pay with their market share. Nikon just acquired red and they will be coming after canon and sony hard, at this rate canon will become the new nikon.
Like i said maybe you're not getting me on this, your definition of flagship is not what these guys needs as flagship, sony and nikon decided to go through the higher megapixel way but it may not be the best in everything either, there are some flaws in both of sony and nikon flagships, they are not covering all what is important for some professional point of view, neither have proper tethering or high speed delivery solution, higher megapixels means larger files that needs to be moved quickly for delivery, the dynamic range also in low light is not the best either, a7v for example has better dynamic range than the A1 while its not the flagship, a7c has better video than A1 and Z9. bursts mode for both nikon and sony have some limitation to either jpeg or compressed raw and limits to only a few lenses which allow to use the max rate advertised. Dont get me wrong, the canon model will have flaws too but for the master of everything i believe the 30mp is the sweet spot for everything that can be covered professionally at exception of medium format photography.. Am not buying it but i know people who will definitely buy it (i have a photographer friend who shoots surf competition professionnaly he uses 1dx3 and R3). I respect all the different brands and models they make, it gives more choices to what someone might need or not.
People have to remember that Canon is #1 for sports photographers. This customer doesn’t want surprises. They want to put on the lens and start taking pictures using their old workflow with just better image quality and speed to get the exact moment the ball hits the bat of the defender blocks a jump shot.
11 years ago, I had a little job as a sports photograph. I stopped, now I am in again, for leisure only. I haven't been following the industry when off, so my Q is, why is Canon's flagship so much behind (time wise)?
Regarding a vertical format camera, what seems to make sense is a specific content creator product that has both grips incorporated. The camera would essentially be square with a rectangular sensor. The other option a higher megapixel square sensor able to be shot in multiple formats: square, vertical, horizontal, etc.
Stacked sensor on the R1 possibly is the rumor I heard on another channel. I'm praying they do that with R5 mkii!!!!! The only bad thing about the R5 is the rolling shutter.
why would they put a stacked sensor in their r3 which canon claimed "wasn't their flagship" (it is) and then not put a stacked sensor in their flagship? It's obviously going to have one lol.
Here are specs according to Adorama and that flash sync speed improvements alone without use of leaf shutter or global shutter is impressive: High-speed autofocus and exposure enhanced by AI recognition Moving object trajectory prediction, high success rate smart object lock focus tracking 30MP full-frame stacked dual-gain sensor Purely electronic rolling shutter faster than any mechanical rolling shutter 1/1,250 sec flash sync time (
From what I understand the readout speed of the R1 will be MUCH higher than the one of the R3. The R3 needs 5.5 milliseconds for the readout, but the R1 does not have a mechanical shutter. So its sensor readout speed can't be slower than its flash sync speed of 1/1250s. That is just 0.8ms.
Cellular connectivity would be awesome along with Oled display. I think it will have 30-36 megapixel which would be perfect for all kinds of photography striking a very good balance between megapixel and image quality performance from sports photographers to wedding and event photographers. Even though I mostly do wildlife photography and probably won’t be able to afford it I’m looking forward to its new advancements that might carry over into the R5 Mark ii 😊 Thanks Tony for the update and your insight into what we might expect from Canon
I wish I could manifest some enthusiasm about this camera but I can’t imagine what capability it’d bring to market that’s not already there. I can imagine, however, it will be way overpriced, like the R3 was at launch. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Gonna pass on the R1 and await release of the R5 Mark ii. As an R5 owner, I am not willing to compromise MP size since I don't shoot action sports. The R1 is definitely a specialty camera for a niche market.
I think the FPS will be higher than the current Canon ‘limit’ of 40. My prediction (today is 16 MAY 2024) is that it will be 50-75 FPS, but the extra processor will allow for a longer buffer/better buffer clearing.
My gut tells me too little too late. I say this as someone who has owned 1DX series cameras and the Eos R3. But also as someone who owns the Sony A9 III… which is a much more innovative offering that anything in Canon’s current lineup. Still, I’m not counting Canon out just yet, because they certainly have a lot of tech they could offer. Interesting times.

I think Canon wants to avoid their mistake of what happened to their R5 and R3, where Sony put banana peels in front of their release events. Canon knows that Sony A1 II is coming and doesn't want to do a favor to Sony.
Myself all I do is Wildlife - so not interested simply because of the lowered MP - The R5mkii will need to be a game changer for me to even consider it - I'd rather take those $$$$ and buy better glass than what I currently have.
Go with the age old bit of bright coloured plumbers tape wrapped in such a way that it makes it look like the camera is being held together by it and a nasty, stained and ragged looking camera strap. Never fails.
Yeah I was expecting a new primary processor in the R1 but it’s likely to be ridiculously expensive so not a practical purchase for me. But hey if it’s amazing I’ll reserve judgement.
It seems the technology has come close to a peak as far as photography goes. All bells and whistles now as opposed to improving the images. R1 will be a niche market for pros, and hell yes I would love one but I dont need 120 or 200 fps for my work. My Nikon D4s will have to suffice. And my still loved and used film cameras.
I'm guessing they're probably going to want to get this out by the end of the year or early next year as I feel Nikon will release an updated Z9 Mark II by the end of the next year (so end of 2025). Not that there is anything wrong with the current model, but I have a hunch that their method of staying competitive is doing a lot of firmware updates to improve/add features and then release new bodies on a 2-4 year cycle (2-3 years perhaps for the mid-range and 4 years for the flagships), and considering the Z9 started shipping at the end of 2021, the end of 2025 will mark 4 years. This is of course if we use the Z6/Z7 series as an example, with the 2nd gen coming out about 2 years after the first gen, and now the gen 3 bodies (at least the Z6 III) will likely be coming out this year so 3 years after the second gen. My guess is it isn't a global shutter sensor either, but it may be a stacked sensor, which does seem to help with some things, although Canon has shown us that it's not necessary to have a stacked sensor to get good sensor performance. There was some talk that Sony had developed a shutter that could sync up to 1/400s which makes me wonder if perhaps the new Nikon Z9 Mark II might have something like that and perhaps a new processor or dual Expeed 7's to help boost processing and hopefully speed things up like sync speed and overall processing. So it makes me wonder what the next Z9 iteration will be like, although I would not be buying one regardless (the Z8 is plenty for me, being a non-pro shooter).
Temper your expectations, the fact that they're only talking about the gimmicky stuff tells me we won't be blown away by whatever they come up with. It sucks because we've waited all these years for a spec bumped R3 Mark II they'll call a canon R1.
So the rumor is that canon is gonna charge a monthly subscription fee for some of the cameras features . Could that possibly be true ? Not something I would go for.
I don't know about other specs, but definitely 50mp with 8k recording at least at 60fps. I honestly don't know about the flippy screen, it's good for recording videos but if you are in the sidelines bumping against other photographers trying to get the picture of the winning athlete or racer, a tilty screen makes much more sense.
The specs were already out there, and Adorama accidentally posted them. We've known for almost half a year that the R1 isn't going to be 45mp or more. You need 45mp for 8k. The leaked specs for months has been 33mp and different burst modes. It's 40 continuous, and then 120-240 depending on the file you use.

In the same situation. Seriously considering dumpling Canon for the Z9. Been shooting them for 40+ years and can't accept that they don't offer users a true competitor to the Z9 three years later.
6:30 when you arrive late for the meeting. 🤣
Even the open gate which they have been doing in the S5II will be a big plus.
puppy in the background was the most interesting part of this video 🤣
Canon's DPP is the Rodney Dangerfield of RAW processors.
You can use a vertical grip and you have it even more to gain, you don't need a camera specifically for that
Sounds like a good specialty Pro Sports Camera like the Sony a9III.
I wonder if for the vertical camera they only “rotate” the sensor or they actually change the outer shape so that it looks like a vertical camera.
Pricing on R3 and performance looks great right now…..
Rumors are that this will be able to take 3D pictures.
Thanks for the updates. Are you guys planning to review the Sony Xperia Mark 6 That just got revealed today? I hope you can review it vs the iPhone and Samsung.
Canon could give us a lot of soft upgrades and really surprise people. Things we have asked for that we don’t typically focus on. Polish.
I just purchased my first Sony A5000 and I think I might sell my Canon 6D and the Sony to buy a full frame Sony, I'm so happy with it.
Gotta love the Chelsea photobomb…. So smooth! 😂
waiting for the r5m2 before making any decisions about moving to another platform. Hoping for pre and post capture
Hmm DGO sensor.. If its like the C70s 9MP DGO sensor its really good at catching high dynamic range. ARRI alexas DGO sensor is only 6MP
Then the 30MP DGO sensor in the R1 looks pretty impressive actually.
Canon own and have made global shutters back in the day with their C700 cinema camera, but Global shutter have a lot of limits.
Most people hate on the Canon cameras for the specs on paper :) Even Tony did that with the Eos R :P but eventually people try it out and end up buying it 🤣
My guess:
- 30 MP full frame stacked dual gain output sensor
- 1/1250 sec flash sync time
If the rumored DGO sensor is true this could be really important feature that distinguishes it from other cameras.
The R8 is already an RP successor, the body is literally identical besides adding the "R8" logo onto the camera.
@@Kevon420Canon literally said themselves that the R8 is the successor to the EOS R, despite the similarities to the RP.
Yup, three years behind the Z9 and can't even match the specs. Take all the time you need Canon 😂
I think we all need a 1024 fps camera with 1600 MPx and a 360 deg. recognize it all, instant AF, internal AI RAW processing. Who needs a person behind the camera?!
Glimpses of Pixel in your videos are always smile-inducing.
Canon will put these in the hands of photographers at the Olympics, so expect to see lots there
hope this drops the price of the other R models
Don't expect to see "lots" there. They'll be there, and you'll see images of it in action, but if Canon's not ready to announce specs, then you won't even see the togs using it to talk about it.
Probably very few actually. Canon won't be ready by the time of the Olympics, so they will hand out a few to loyal Canon ambassadors only...so Canon can control the message.
would be a shame if it had such low megapixel count since nikon z9 has 45 and sony a1 has 50 in ther flagships
Will Canon ever come out with another camera without a low pass filter
Tony, do you believe there is a dominant or better camera brand to go with? Should there be a reason to go with one over the other? How would you determine if you should switch ecosystems completely?
I switched from Canon after 20 years to Sony for lens choices. Sony has a bazillion available where as Canon has a few dozen.
Nikon....best fast glass because of the bigger mount paired with Sony sensor technology. Nikon is the future. Sony can’t make a 85 1.2
If you’re a pro, (and I am inferring where you are in your pro journey based on the question) forget brand loyalty, get whatever allows you to do the job at the cheapest price and forget about the camera market for a decade.
Ok, R1 is intended as a flagship, my thing is wildlife. Will eye focus be included in the new R3 or R7?
The saddest part of the show is that the XPERIA 1 VI wasn't even mentioned, further confirming it will not make it to the US market. ULTIMATE BUMMER
The sound is great, what mic are you using ?
DJI Mic 2 into a Pocket 3. Just my travel setup.
The Nikon Z9 development announcement was even more vague.
I’ll trust you. I don’t remember. Then bad marks for them too! Not my style of marketing.
I am so close to going to the Z9/Z8 direction.... I don't want to leave Canon. Love my R5
If you want usable autofocus, stay with Canon. There's no reason to get the Z8 or Z9.
The pretty cute dog and the very smart Chelsea stole the show in the back ground !
I just want to see Canon's subscription model roll out with this amazing camera. Consumers are going to love that.
As a wildlife photographer I would disagree. I’ll take the higher res any day so I can crop in to small birds or wary subjects.
yeah this is definitely not the common opinion. Every wildlife photographer I know wants more resolution.
Only has 24 mpx. Very underwhelming
I don't think it's too late if it comes before Olympics. If it's disappointing or not that is up to the pros that will use it to cover the Olympics.
For maximum lens utilization sensors should be round.
Pixel the pup in the background :)
Here are specs according to Adorama and that flash sync speed improvements alone without use of leaf shutter or global shutter is impressive:
High-speed autofocus and exposure enhanced by AI recognition
Moving object trajectory prediction, high success rate smart object lock focus tracking
30MP full-frame stacked dual-gain sensor
Purely electronic rolling shutter faster than any mechanical rolling shutter
1/1,250 sec flash sync time (
From what I understand the readout speed of the R1 will be MUCH higher than the one of the R3.
Chelsea is eating giant sour patch kids waiting for you to finish so you guys can leave Tony.
So they basically said nothing important about the R1 other than that it's going to be released "soon"? LOL
Gonna pass on the R1 and await release of the R5 Mark ii. As an R5 owner, I am not willing to compromise MP size since I don't shoot action sports. The R1 is definitely a specialty camera for a niche market.
The R3 has fewer, but better pixels. It yields noticeably better image quality than R5 in marginal light.
That said, what everyone is waiting for is the R5 2. The R1 is only for professional sports photographers, and that's pretty much it.
Photojournalists who shoot a variety of things, including sports.
@@TRobBrownPhotographythey want a small, and most of the time cheaper camera. This thing is not deal for video journalism because of the bulk.
@@80-80. Not all photojournalists are videographers. Many shoot stills. And it's still going to be less weight (and less bulky) than a professional video camera anyway.
@@80-80. I've been in the industry since 1993. I don't know any pro photojournalists who want a tiny camera as their workhorse. We always shot with workhorse flagship cameras everywhere I worked. If you want professional results, you pair professional knowledge and skills with professional gear.
@@80-80. no, photojournos need cameras that are tanks. super-reliable and able to handle rain, snow, mud, dust etc. Thats why they use Canon 1 series over others in the Canon family.
I just learnt I was supposed to use the phone vertically. I don’t think I have ever done that.
Chelsea in the BG scooting through 😆
I want eye focus but combined with face detection with a quick button so I can quickly change faces but then also look around the frame without it leaving the chosen face.
And as always 60mp not 30 or whatever weak “sports” level MP. Can always down-res for sport people.
I can't believe they didn't get the R1 ready to sell to pros in time for the Olympics.
No specs released tells us everything we need to know. Canon is barely keeping pace with competition...
I think Canon wants to avoid their mistake of what happened to their R5 and R3, where Sony put banana peels in front of their release events. Canon knows that Sony A1 II is coming and doesn't want to do a favor to Sony.
Looks like Chelsea is eagerly waiting for you! Looks like she wants to go shopping!! Come on Tony! Is it time to shoot a video!!!
Canon always realeases it's PRO Cameras before the Olympics going back to the EOS 1
Myself all I do is Wildlife - so not interested simply because of the lowered MP - The R5mkii will need to be a game changer for me to even consider it - I'd rather take those $$$$ and buy better glass than what I currently have.
If the leaked specs are true, the readout speed is 0.8 milliseconds, which effectively negates the need for a global shutter.
Less than 36 Megapixels (minimum for 8k video) and Canon should just wait till 2034 and release it as a vintage throwback curio.
It'll likely be at the Euro 2024 football championship before the Olympics. There's a few references to football in the press release.
I want inbody theft protection, for the price they will charge
Go with the age old bit of bright coloured plumbers tape wrapped in such a way that it makes it look like the camera is being held together by it and a nasty, stained and ragged looking camera strap.
Never fails.
@@PippetWhippet I love this idea and suggestion
Sounds like a repackaged and slightly upgraded R3. Not interested.
Yeah I was expecting a new primary processor in the R1 but it’s likely to be ridiculously expensive so not a practical purchase for me. But hey if it’s amazing I’ll reserve judgement.
I think canon need to hear what the people need so they can finish it off.
Looks like Chelsea is waiting to go to the shops... and Tony's in trouble. lol
So it makes me wonder what the next Z9 iteration will be like, although I would not be buying one regardless (the Z8 is plenty for me, being a non-pro shooter).
afaik Sony a iii has cmos global shutter
Temper your expectations, the fact that they're only talking about the gimmicky stuff tells me we won't be blown away by whatever they come up with. It sucks because we've waited all these years for a spec bumped R3 Mark II they'll call a canon R1.
So the rumor is that canon is gonna charge a monthly subscription fee for some of the cameras features . Could that possibly be true ? Not something I would go for.
Ever heard of a 3-way pan-and-tilt head ?
Gimbal lock problem
Panasonic S9 will not be vertical
Ugg, I hate vertical video so much!!
The Canon R1 is still an unknown, so it's premature to be disappointed.
Finally. Hopefully the R1 is a BEAST.
24mpx means it's about as beastly as a bunny rabbit...
I feel like their flagship non flagship was the R3. They released the R3 as maybe to buy them some time to further develop a higher end flagship.
The R3 could also be like the EOS-3 before it where it was a one and done camera to test new technology such as the EYE AF.
Chelsea and the pooch give a magnificent performance in the background.. Tony, the video was interesting also.
