    I've always had my eye on a bk10 but never pulled the lever, I bought an SRK cold steel in vg1 which I've hardly used I regret that purchase. Gonna have to sale that one to get a new knife cause I'm done adding knives to my collection, I just want what works and no more no less.
    The BK10 is a perfect knife for all things in the woods, thanks for feeding my obsession LOL

      I think you are right, and the price point is fantastic. I noticed that on amazon last night it was 80 US dollars but just a few days before I was able to get it for 67 so just keep watching the price and grab it when its right!

      I also like it more than other beckers because its tip is more sturdy becuz of its geometry

      It turned out pretty good, I might do a bit more to get some larger spots.

    looks good with the patina and the ranger bands

      I agree, and it really only took about a half hour if you don't count the time spent waiting for the paint stripper and mustard.

    Good video. I definitely prefer the BK10 for its thinner spine. 3/16" is more than sufficient.

      I agree, and the extra length is totally worth it.

    I wish i could send my knives back to kabar to get them recoated with the original finish. I regret striping it off.

    hi I know that I am out of time to expect an answer but I try the same, I was willing to buy this knife but I do not like the black covers at all and very often they do not allow the use of the firesteel, without the black cover it is improved in use with the firesteel? another thing how long did you wait between one layer and the other in applying the patina? thank you

    One of the plus sides of the Beckers is the capability of modding them. I still prefer ESEE, but that's probably because I became aware of them first.

    • @TheLankyWoodsman
      @TheLankyWoodsman  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheGame I like these in this price range...the Esees seem to be just a bit higher

    Becker offers a micarta scale kit ina multi color pattern called VZ scales

    Should have used wilson tennis wrap for better grib because it doesn't slide up or down the handle.

    • @TheLankyWoodsman
      @TheLankyWoodsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually wanted to do a follow up, I upgraded to micarta scales so its a non issue now. Thanks for watching and the comment!

    I don't know why the bk10 isn't more popular.

      I dont know, but I love it. its great, and I just picked up some micarta scales for it and its even better.

    Why do you take the finish off

    • @TheLankyWoodsman
      @TheLankyWoodsman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To me it looks better and performs better as slicing. The coating is quite rough and creates drag when slicing.

    • @donfilkins298
      @donfilkins298 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheLankyWoodsman oh ok thanks!.....another question. You can't use a ferro rid because of that coating . So can you just remove the coating off the top flat side down say 2 inches to expose a sharp corner. ? To enable you to use a ferro rod on the knife?

    • @TheLankyWoodsman
      @TheLankyWoodsman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, i have done that one of my smaller knives, works fine.

    I think you mean saber grind instead of flat grind my man!

    • @TheLankyWoodsman
      @TheLankyWoodsman  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Josh Johnson I thought the same thing...but on ka bars technical specs it lists flat, i wonder if they had an older model

    • @joshjohnson5307
      @joshjohnson5307 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheLankyWoodsman Hmmm, that's odd! It's the same grind on most of the other blades in the kbar bk line. I wonder if it was a mistake, or like you said, an older model? I'd like to see them do the line, or select blades in the line, with a flat grind!

    • @TheLankyWoodsman
      @TheLankyWoodsman  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Josh Johnson my bk16 is flat ground...i love it

    • @joshjohnson5307
      @joshjohnson5307 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheLankyWoodsman yeah I've eyeballed that one a time or two. Nice looking blade, I think at one time there was a saber ground version of it floating around, but they're nonexistent now, unless you find someone who one that's willing to let it go....but not likley

    • @TheLankyWoodsman
      @TheLankyWoodsman  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can find it on amazon...it isnt called bk16 though...search for Ka-Bar Becker knife with drop point, short

    You didn't even use it and already it looks like the knife endured a ton of abuse.

    • @TheLankyWoodsman
      @TheLankyWoodsman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      it is a forced petina, and will help prevent rusting, and i like the look.

    Save your arteries by putting tape on the blade🤷🏽‍♂️
