Hi I have an important questions iv watched all ur videos for years and love this channel!! If I get the Amex business platinum bonus will that mean I can never get the business gold sign up offer? I know the last video you made said you have to get the green>gold>plat to get all 3 offers but is that the same for the business ones too?
I have the Business Plat, it's trash besides the intro bonus. I'm strongly considering canceling it if there's no large change to the credits/benefits.
Amex is missing a trick by not having more multiples on the business plat than the 1x except for travel. I mean why use it, why pay the AF if the 1x is lower than what other cards offer.
Agreed 100%! I got it for the 150000 point bonus, but at the end of the year I had not really been able to use any of the credits, and the multipliers do not apply to my business model. I didn't cancel but I downgraded, but I will say that American Express has not offered me another welcome bonus on a card since I got the business platinum. I've basically been in pop-up jail ever since. 😒
The Amex model is “breakage”. They intend for these credits not to be used, either because they are not useful to the card holder or because the card holder forgets to use them, especially the stupid split credits that are doled out monthly or quarterly.
Good video but imo the gold and platinum cards are not worth the hassle as a coupon book. There's plenty of other cards from other issuers that have easier credits to use and fewer of them to keep track of. Plus tons of cards have lounge access now with priority pass, and centurion lounges are overrated and always crowded. The quality of food is slightly better at centurion lounges but not worth the crowds. In my case I normally go to the lounge for peace and quiet and maybe a couple drinks. Not to get in line and rush around for a place to sit lol if you want to flex the card to show off (even though most could care less lol) and keep track of all the credits to help justify a $700 card, then go for it, to each their own 🤷♂️
Agreed! We currently get the card for free because we're active duty military, but once we retire and start having to pay the annual fees, I will no doubt be canceling or downgrading the card. It's just not worth the annual fee with the pretty crappy multipliers and absurd coupon book approach, almost none of which apply to my lifestyle and habits
I mostly agree with you. I don’t pay for the Platinum card or my wife’s AU for life and feel the additional Plaza, Escape, and random partnered lounges as a network can’t be beat. But for most who don’t have the card covered the best strategy is to get a PP restaurant CC which will have the freshest food.
I agree with you, a lower fee without the credits would be better for the consumer. They are betting on the fact you won’t use the credits. The things I don’t like about the business platinum is that the five times on flights is only through the portal. Also, it does not have the $200 hotel credit or the Uber credits like a personal card. And then there is the 1.5 multiplier for over 5K spend but you can get a two times multiplier on the blue business with no annual fee. I think the credits that they do have now only applied to very specific businesses.
I downgraded to the Business Gold for 4X on shipping, 1 week before they announced the changes to that card as well. I have 9 days left of 4X on shipping... I will be cancelling in May if the Business Platinum isn't impressive. Even if it is, won't they just change it again in 2 years? For me it is a choice between Schwab vs Business, 1 charge card + BBP to minimize the coupons. Hilton Surpass + Aspire + Business has coupons too, but at least they're not monthly, and categories I would use anyways.

700.00 can buy me ticket anywhere in the world instead requesting to spend half millions for worthless points and try to fool me with word Free
It's basically used for flights and you get 35% back. So if you're not flying a lot or staying in hotels you probably don't even need the card.
The dell credit is now almost worthless since they stopped carrying 3rd party peripherals like Bose earbuds

So Amex is doing what Chase does and actually giving the customer the benefit contract date end.
