This is the problem most of us face. If you are purchasing fish online or sight unseen your supplier will sometimes not send you the best fish. If you buy 10 discus you will probably receive 6 to 7 you would have chosen in person, the others will have noticeable flaws. Unfortunately you’re giving them good money and they send you good fish along with junk fish.

No! Early on I was not astute to how important that really is. I pieced this tank together and that is something you should never do. 1 supplier for all fish… someone you can trust to have your best interest in mind.

So I’m finally taking the plunge into discus but I made a huge mistake. I have a black background and black sand, and I I’m not changing it lol! Long story as to why that is, but we’ll leave it at that. I saw in your shorts the yellow checkerboard don’t pepper, but are there others like this? I actually love that color and will probably get some of those. I really wanted some blues in the tank though, and maybe some reds. If you can help me I’d be super appreciative! I’m so mad I didn’t come across this information sooner….
Yes, you can get never pepper varieties from Gabe Posada at Wattley Discus in Florida. Also reds and Blues will not pepper.

Those are Blood Fin Tetra. They like to hang out in that upper column area.
I think one of them is missing an eye.
No one is missing a Pectoral fin. I missed it the first year I had him. He is perfect in every other way.
