The problem is about a third of the voting population aren't staunchly in one camp or the other. There is literally no reason to stick with Biden, other than the fact that he's currently refusing to step down. He was losing by massive percentages before the debate. He's deeply unpopular. This is a golden opportunity to switch him with a younger, more appealing candidate - a candidate with the mental cognition to directly refute Trump on his lives, and the energy to actually campaign normally. (Biden has the fewest amount of press conferences since Reagan.) As it is now, millions of registered voters will just sit this one out. We have a chance to pave our way to the future, rather than sticking with one person out of "loyalty." "Blue MAGA" is going to be the death of this party.

That’s the issue. Biden literally has lost the cognitive capacity to make sound judgments, and that is a HUGE reason why someone is elected to the Office in the first place. So ironically his inability to self assess makes him by default not sound in judgment and unfit to serve another 4 years. Look, I get it, we’ll vote for Biden’s head in a jar before Trump. But it’s the voters on the fence that will decide this, and they will heavily weigh Joe’s competence and not consider Trump to be the threat to our Constitutional Republic that he is.
