UGH! R20 is rough for me ... the picot part, joining it to the next cluster. The loop that bridges the picot portion to the cluster to it's left gets stretched out no matter how I do it. Looks awful. =( I'm going to sit and think of an alternative to that little area since what I can tell from the small image of this doily, two clusters come to a point. I'm thinking a chain 3, because R21 has you slip stitching into the picot to pull it up to a point .. the same effect might be done with a chain 3, the middle chain being pulled up into a point. What do you think?

Oh do you mean at the end the last step when you do the final cluster to connect the 2 clusters together? 6:33? For me I know that when you begin a cluster, that first treble crochet you make- the loop you leave on the hook- it can stretch as you make more treble crochets to complete the cluster- I try to keep that first loop as tight as I can by not moving the hook too much. I think that is what you mean? That that loop stretches when you create the next cluster to attach them? Unfortunately that's all I can say. If you'd like, try the first bit with the chain 3 as you think. See what it looks like. If it works for you then continue the row with it, it won't make a difference in the future steps. I'm not sure how it would look like though.

Am starting R23. The chain2 instead of a picot worked perfectly fine and had no problems being on track with you and the written pattern.

Working on the last round now (am a week behind due to an unexpected 6 day trip). My picots stink! LOL Btw, about what diameter SHOULD this doily be?

Mine is about 17.5 inches in diameter, with size 10 thread and 1.8mm hook.
