Having built and used the folded space organizer, I will say that I actually went back to the stock insert. It really doesn't save any time at all on the setup/teardown when you have more boxes to flip through, and stacking every tile and monster so you can't see which is which just has you flipping through tiles over, and over, and over again to find that one monster, or that one tile that you just can't seem to find. I said screw it and went back to the stock insert. The problem I'm having now is the stock insert doesn't account for using sleeves. So, currently I'm looking into ways the community have improved the folded space experiance for frosthaven, and there's lots of great printouts and card/monster organizer inserts that you can print out/cut which significantly helps on boardgamegeek's files section.
I'm really surprised you liked the folded space one as much as you did, because I can't stand using mine personally.

Thanks for the review. I just received my Kickstarter version of FH... I requested the wooden laserox, but they sent the Folded space instead... I'm sitting here trying to decide if I'm happy with the FS product, or if I should request that they send the wooden one and exchange it... The biggest difference that I saw was with the sets of boxes that click together... That is a pretty nice feature I think...

I backed on kickstarter, including the Broken Token insert. I missed the saga where Isaac cut ties with broken token, and missed that there was a survey to choose which of the new inserts we could choose from. Turns out that the default is the much cheaper and (frankly less desireable) Folded Space insert. Not thrilled that I ordered a premium option and got the budget option instead

I really like the FS Map Archive. That Monster Box from LaserOx is awesome too but I'm gonna hold off on buying an insert to give a few more 3rd parties a chance to develop a product.

Having spent a pretty penny for the game, that $110 barrier to entry is a tough pill to swallow, so I would lean towards the Folded Space product. Also that Folded Space Map Pack Archive would seal the deal for me.
    AND NO SPLINTERS!

I feel you, that's definitely a huge drawback and one of those things that's gonna hit everyone differently. I totally think if you go the folded space route you still get your money's worth.

I’ve used the Folded Space inserts for my full copy of TI4 + PoK expansion and have never had any issues with it. It significantly improves the setup and organization and has lasted over 3 years now with no issue. I’m sure Laserox is great, but Folded Space is just as good an option that’s half the price. I think I’d go for that one if I ever get my hands on Frosthaven 😢

I can completely understand and why I try to remind people that these are review copies that I received, and to bear in mind that I didn't have to pay for either of them. If I were purchasing for myself, especially if I paid retail for Frosthaven, there's a good chance I'd go with Folded Space.

We should note that the LaserOx one is way heavier aswell. Frosthaven is already a huge heavy box but with the wood in there is very heavy (might be a note for people who are planning to bring their copy to a friends house)

Go7 Gaming are my go to inserts. They’re expensive but they’ve never let me down. Not looking forward to putting together the giant Frosthaven one. Took me several hours to build the Gloomhaven one.

Thank you, I will go for the LaserOx! Also, I was wondering why you use the FoldedSpace map archive + the LaserOx insert since the latter includes map tile organization?

    • @TheCardboardHerald
      @TheCardboardHerald  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Laserox does not include map organization, or at least mine does not. The box is fully occupied by the insert with a little reserve area for the books / world map. All of the game map tiles must be stored separately, which one of those accordion files works perfect for it.

@@TheCardboardHerald Ohh I see, that is actually that is my mistake - I am currently looking at the Gloombox by LaserOx, rather than the Frosthaven box insert. The Gloombox includes map organization

The trick to no gaps in folded space inserts is to build and glue, wait for a little while for it to part dry and then go and squeeze all the joins it forces any excess glue out and bonds tightly.
I use FS for most games and cant fault them tbh

I'm not a big fan of unfinished wood. If I got the laser I'd have to stain and finish it.

The 'map archives' is ridiculously overpriced. Sure it looks nice, but it's just an expanding file folder. A cheap expanding file folder is maybe $2 or $3 USD and they're easy to find at local stores instead of paying (and waiting) for shipping.
