In 1981 I built an XR200 with a power roll stroker crank power roll big bore kit, roller crank. I ported and polished the head, after that I went to work on the suspension Simons forks w/power rear shock, white brothers swing arm. It was about a 230 cc XR200 . A 50 mile cross country was all the clutch was good for. I was working on maching a CR125 clutch to fit the shaft I never could get it to work. She was a ripper for 50 miles. I took home a lot of trophy’s and a lot of clutch plates. I’m 74 now but would do it all over again.
This is an amazing build and I got the privilege of watching the whole process! Jordan did an amazing job and I couldn’t be prouder. Gonna be a fun race!
Thx KA for bringing the "Oldies to Us" BITD the XR200 was Sochiro Honda's great hope to make a 4stroke competitive against 2 smokes. His spirit is smiling with the effort and execution of that 200. I still have an '81 XR200R that I bought used for my 3 daughters to ride and then their kids. It's thrashed but going to a buddy who restores old bikes as it needs some Love. Gob bless you and yours Ken
I put an xr185 engine in a 1981 Kx125 frame many years back. Did a high compression 210cc piston with midrange cam and custom exhaust . It was awesome on steep single track.
Just got a 88 xr200. Will definitely do the 210cc kit, cam as well as exhaust and intake mod. The hard part will be the suspension and fitting a disc brake in the front I think.
Anybody else screaming "take my money"!!! How much for 10???lol The compression is a real thing. I built an 87 trl200 with a atc 185 head and bored 30 over. Trick piston, cam and bigger atc valves with a. aluminum wes header and pipe using a Russian built slide carb from J.B. racing. Falcon shocks and a fanatic front end...still have. They are painful to kick and the compression release isn't much help. Great video Kap. Those two bikes were incredible. *Our shop bike just won Best Dyna at chopper mag event. Earl6 is good six
Dude, I am having conniptions here seeing these amazing bikes. I f I'm still alive ,I am dragging my bikes 3 1/2 hrs up the road back up there again next year. I keep telling the youngbloods that building retro-mod classic beast bikes is the best way to roll . Much cooler than just buying Brand new Govt. issue stuff only !!! I hate all the so-called rider assist , that should be called "your grandmother put this mode here and said to make sure drive slow it looks like rain ",and "button-up so you wont catch a cold " crap on new motorcycles . That XR is pure Balls ! At first I thought he said he was Brad Lackey's son ! Brad was 70's not 80's . Damn I'm old.
I feel like I’d trade my 2021 Ktm 500excf even for that😂 as long as the rear steering still works lol. I used to love the way you could toss the rear end around on those bikes
XR200 ❤ Sounds a little crisper and refined than mine, similar grunt I figure cause I've got a CB200 down pipe and a chrome shorty Cherry bomb on mine, this thing is profound tho, CR swing arm and upgrade rear end ...my other XR200R I'm building has a '86 CR125 front end and billet yokes with a later xr250r rear shock, does add a bit to the height and they're already a tall bike.
I just got a 88 XR200. Does it respond much to simple mods such as PWK carb, intake mod and custom exhaust? How about getting a high compression piston and a camshaft, will it feel somewhat powerful?
I like the black guards and tank. But I like the sound of my xr a lot better custom exhaust and custom mega bomb worked motor bored ,ported n oversize valves im a engine specialist…. I’m looking forward to my new motor it’s using a Yamaha xt225 71mm piston bigger liner in std barrel so looks stock and head has 2mm oversize valves and ported and cam

Used to have an XR200…totally stock…such a fun bike. I can’t imagine how amazing that bike would be in tight single track!!!
Always liked Blake when he raced, seemed like one of the nicest guys this sport has ever had. Good luck tomorrow.
Always been a big fan of Blake. Wish she had stuck around at the pro level longer, but the main thing is he seems to be doing very well
Man I miss my xr200r so fun made me a good rider keep it up

Very privileged to be part of this build with the ceraketo on the engine.
great job the bike will be on display at some great builder bike shows this year including moto GP TX

What a pure class interview pretty smooth Ken 👍👍
Takes me back to my brand new 200 re some of the best days of my life , the bike was bullet proof.
I have a bone stock 1984 XR200. It still starts and runs great after 30 years of trail riding.

How do you make for plastics black? When the gas tank. Can’t find them in that color so they did it themselves

Nice guy, and when it comes to four stroke motorcycles, the bike is sick.
Good catch Sr!
His dad Bad Brad Lackey was one of my favorite racers in the early 80s!
Looks like Blake was sporting a little Soul Glow®️ in his Amerifro
Awesome Build love it 💪🏾😎💯💨

What ever happened to AL Baker XR's Only in Hesparia CA?
What a SICK bike
Id say that xr can move! Id like to know what mods were done with the motor! Sounds wicked to!
motor dyno numbers 27HP thats 15 over stock, motor was built by Mickey Dunlap with four stroke tech.
I feel like I’d trade my 2021 Ktm 500excf even for that😂 as long as the rear steering still works lol. I used to love the way you could toss the rear end around on those bikes
A built xr200 is very formidable indeed.
Honda 200’s are so fun because they’re so ridable, do anything on them. That one is a first, so sick !

Air-cooled and a carburetor Rules!
sounds like mine
My workmate had a TS185 that would kill this thing. PE175 piston. Port job, big carb. This bike is cool though.
The XR should be the four valve that they call a dirt bike. That motor was always laim.
Don't expect many to agree with you
My four valve 200 was pretty awesome at high revs but might be less torquey and heavier than this 200.
this bike makes 27HP lol weighs 187 pounds full custom build she moves lol this is 15hp over stock nothing stock on this bike
U know Y because XR'S RULE.
Thanks from NOR-CAL.
I missed the point of converting it to a drum brake
