A good tip for getting more clean or usable volume a low wattage amp is to put a tube overdrive pedal set clean into the amp with the gain and volume on the amp around 3 or 4. Use the pedal for setting the volume. I run a Hiwatt tube distortion pedal into my little turd Bugera v5 this way with a Wampler Belle od and a Way Huge Saucy Box as my drives. It's 100% more usable. I have 2 Bugeras, and they are really great for a low price. So, I can recommend a Bugera amp. I have also had a Fender Blues Junior, and it is more expensive, but great.
Guys, both jams in this video were amazing. Captain Lee, the intro jam was fnocking great and the outro jam, you must have been channeling Eddie Hazel's Magott Brain... Supero work Captain, my Captain. bless you.
Funny how the blues king didn't even get a full Andertons review and was basically overlooked, but now the identical amp with stripes on it is the dogs bllx.
I’ve been using small 1 and 2 watt amps since I realized you can run the line out to the PA and use the lil amp as a guitar monitor. Although not all line outs work this way. So, to answer the question of can you Gig with that, you can gig with a small tube amp if it’s got a line out. Sweet video and cool amps!
My main amp is a 30/15 w switchable, and that’s only a 3db drop. I usually find myself gigging at 15w.. But I do use the 30w for bigger venues and I’ve never needed more. They mic me if it’s needed, but it’s never needed. I’ve gigged with a 15w pro jr and was the heard over everybody else. Of course I’m the type that dimes everything all the way and rides my volume knob on the guitar. 15/30w is plenty and 10” speakers are totally under rated and more guitar players should give them a go. They have lots of punch. I really wanted to hear more of the 8” 1w amp, I want a small living room amp that I can crank and get that sound. Really want the old school lunchbox blues tone. Kind of disappointed they didn’t pay much attention to that one.
Nice - which amp do you have? I've been wondering about how much wattage I need for playing live with a drummer and bassist. I've got a Vox AC15c1 and I'm not worried about how loud that one is, but it's a beast at almost 50lb. I'm leaning on the Supro DK12 or one of their 25watt models...
@@lancere00 I use Valetrain Trenton Pro combo. It’s 30/15w switchable. No complicated stuff. Basic plug in and crank it and play. 15w is plenty depending on your drummer and the space. Having an extra 3db is nice to have if needed but not necessary for me. But it’s not about loud, it’s about being heard in the mix, perceived loudness. Like not competing with the bass amp for the same sonic space. Etc.. But I play Dad blues rock.. Not metal. Hope that helps.
Great demo! When it comes to 'gig-ability', is the DK12 as loud as a Vox AC15c1? The reason I'm asking, is that I have no trouble gigging with my AC15. If it's as loud, I'd be reeeeally tempted to pull the trigger on this one.
I like the idea of an amp being considered a “living room amp” - do a shootout between some of the best!? (Chuck in the Mesa boogie California tweed, cause I cannot get we enough of that).
Have a Delta King 8 truly is a 1 watt wonder. But in The Capts run through all I could think was "oof, not the best mic choice for that 8' speaker". Honestly Pete running through the 10' demo sounded more like the amp I'm used to. But then that end jam, with context...tiny amps just sound awesome in a mix.
No these don't sound boxy at all because it's the wood they used for the cabinets ! I can't remember what wood it is but they used really nice light wood that resonates better than super hard stiff wood 😜
Lee's playing sounds so much better nowadays probably just because he's more comfortable playing in front of a camera as to me always seemed very self conscious and now we're seeing what he can really do in these jams when he's more confident with surley more to come.
I bought a Blues King 8 a year and half ago for $400 CAD (320 US, 232 GBP.) Pricey for a 1W amp, but I paid the same for my DSL1HR and H&K Tubemeister 5 head. I love all my small amps, but the BK8 is the easiest to use for bedroom noodling.
Regarding small amps and gigging. I remember the inimitable Micky Gee using a piggy back Fender Tremolux with 2x10 for a lot of his gigs. Tremolux is rated 15-20 Watts. No problems for him against bass and drums, and Terry Williams is no quiet drummer. And Micky Gee used a lot of clean tones, as Pete probably knows both being Tom Jones related players. Maybe it's that second speaker that makes the difference. Fender Bassbreaker 15 with an extension speaker, giving 2x12, is well loud enough against bass and drums.
Ended up buying a Delta 10 because of this review, (in tweed!) it's everything I need for what I do. I love the opening jam, Hey guys, any way i could get a copy of the backing track you used?? It would be great fun to jam to with my delta & P90's
I have played guitar on loud gigs with a second guitarplayer bass and drums. I can concur that 15W EL84 with a single 12" will not give you enough clean headroom for a decent clean tone.. But for a driven rock sound no problem when using a loud celestion speaker. I use a 45W EL34 amp with a single 12.. This gives me a loud clean tone as a base tone.
The best way to play this is with the volume on full, and just adjust the pre-amp. This amp is all about the tube. Get that tube HOT and it sounds absolutely amazing. I never use the distortion pedal, but that clean tone is so dynamic and there is so much sensitivity that's all I need to run almost any sound I want
The 8 is Old School and has yo be used crancked with a reverb or delay in front added of a low gain OD ( klon like): and there you go! Its a fantastic amp!
Agreed & that’s the one I bought. I over tweak my mid’s to the point of insanity 🤷♂️ on most Amps and it’s always perfect on my Supro. Plus for my house it’s plenty loud!
'Yeh, interesting stuff. My observation is that 8” speakers just don’t make it into ‘serious’ territory. 10 and 12 “ speakers do. I tossed up be a 10” Princeton and a 12” Deluxe Reverb, and bought the 12 for the warmth in the tone. But often wonder if I would have been better off with the 10”. I made an extension cab with a 10” Tone Tubby, and that’s my fave speaker at home.
I've always loved the sound of these Supro amps. They almost sound like some forgotten Southern Rock coming straight off the vinyl record; like finished recordings. Sounded like that on the affordable tube combo amp roundup ye did a few years back, sounds like long hair, a handlebar moustache and open shirted hairy chest ;) Best living or bedroom amps. But also, best recording amps, with the pre-amp line out, or the low wattage and smaller speakers that don't push buttons of a small room's modes. The line out is nice to have with the cheap IR loader pedals available; or into audio interface then do power amp + cab sim ITB. But, another could be putting it into a pretty clean affordable more powerful power amp (Vox MV50? or SS/Class D). Then into a bigger sounding cab. Then you have a small vibey tube practice and recording amp, that can be converted into something more powerful.

Guys, both jams in this video were amazing. Captain Lee, the intro jam was fnocking great and the outro jam, you must have been channeling Eddie Hazel's Magott Brain... Supero work Captain, my Captain. bless you.
That Oarnge Tele is sweet! You guys are a great team!
I gotta say, it's great to see how much Lee's playing has improved, I'm really impressed (y)
Great opening intro!Love these guys!
The Fiesta Red Squier Custom Tele is the bee's kneez. Was this something Anderton's sold as a limited edition?
Love The Demo Videos without them is like Not Having My Big Glass Of Tea So Keepem Coming 👍👍🎶🎶🎸
I have the DK 5w amp (10 inch). Just the right size and volume to keep under the desk. My first amp.🎸 🔊
I must of been in a deep-deep trance to of missed this amazing tone party 2 years ago!!!!
I love this video!!! Makes me want to buy a supro delta king 12 every time I hear the epic jam going down here!!!!!!!!!
Captain really rips at the end of this one! Nice video guys :)
Wowza!!!! Love that opening jam!!! Does the equipment inspire... Yes , yes it does.
I really loved captains playing here!! Lovely amps too
Great recording amp the 8. For in a nice recording room.
I bought the 10", I changed the speaker for an Eminence from Alessandro, and now the Supro sounds spectacular!!!
So great to,see you find your groove Captain! Total inspiration to us all, your a star!
Nice playing and amps! Just saw Chris Buck video, and thought maybe you could invite Barrie Cadogan sometime.
Funny how the blues king didn't even get a full Andertons review and was basically overlooked, but now the identical amp with stripes on it is the dogs bllx.
That single cut sounds soooooo good.
Please do a best "pedal platform amps" shootout. Pleeeeaaaasssseeeee!
Well,I really wanted to hear where pete was gonna go with that gated fuzz.
@@simonsmith2642 Yeah for sure. Thanks!
Nice sound Captain!!! You really brought it with your vibrato. I think I'm going to buy it.
captain killing it on the ending jam!!!
You guys play so nice :D what a great tone!
Absolutely great blues jam !
Maaaan, these amps are lovely, but small cabins will always sound boxy. I love my Bassbreaker 30r in my living room. It is a thing of absolute beauty!
No these don't sound boxy at all because it's the wood they used for the cabinets !
I can't remember what wood it is but they used really nice light wood that resonates better than super hard stiff wood 😜
These are absolutely superb amps/ good enough for Page, good enough for me.
Which one would you pick? And more importantly, which colour? 😏
@@andertons 5 watt, Tweed (caramel)- every day of the week. From Anderton’s, of course.
@@andertons Delta King 10 in tweed is the one for me!
@@petergoddard1960 same as me then fella, good taste :-)
Lee's playing sounds so much better nowadays probably just because he's more comfortable playing in front of a camera as to me always seemed very self conscious and now we're seeing what he can really do in these jams when he's more confident with surley more to come.
Love the format of opening solos. Advantage Danish Pete, but Lee is sooo catching up.
They sound incredible for their size and price!!
Crazy looking at this now it’s in the $500+ range now
Captain did me dirty in the intro. Those were some filthy licks
When the captain broke out the tele my heart raced a bit .. he killed that and that opening is too 5 easily
That epiphone Les Paul in the intro sounded surprisingly good.
I met Bruce Zinky in Flgagstaff. Building Zinke and Supro. The Blue velvet was my favorite!
I just got a 60s Standard and they gave me a Supro King 10 for free! I think it sounds nice!
Killing me with that double bound Tele in orange
The 8 is Old School and has yo be used crancked with a reverb or delay in front added of a low gain OD ( klon like): and there you go! Its a fantastic amp!
The line out is buffered you shouldve tried it , sounds amazing
These sound pretty good. better than I expected. I think the 10" sounds the best of the three.
Pete you look great! Clearly took care of yourself post covid and it was worth it! 😬
One of my favorite Andertons jam intros.
