Hey Jeff! The idea of creating a course on Javascript in Storyline is awesome. Looking forward!
I'd be interested in a full course on practical JS applications in storyline
Sweet thank you for saying!
That makes two of us!
Yay! I was hoping you would cover this! Thank you for all that you do.
You are so welcome! My pleasure!
Definitely interested. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
Yeah my pleasure!
I would definitely be interested in a course on Javascript with Storyline. Thank you!
In the works!
Excellent break down, Jeff!
Thank you!
Very Nice! Thank you for sharing this video.
Thanks for watching!
Definitely interested!
In the works!
I would love to learn more about using JavaScript in Storyline 360.
In the works!
I'd love a JavaScript in Storyline course
In the works!
Hey thanks so much for this tutorial! I'm currently working on an instructional design portfolio project, ans Storyline sometimes just gives me headaches, especially when working with video and animations. This gives me hope that I'll be able to go beyond what limited functionality Storyline gives me with the triggers. Thanks!
Glad to hear that and yes the limitations of Storyline in animations is hard. GSAP does help.
I would also be interested in this course!
Awesome! One I am done with updating my basic Storyline course then I will get started on this.
Very interested
Thank you!
Interested!
In the works!
Can't wait that course about JS in Storyline (:
I am just wrapping up my Camtasia certification course and then will get started on development of this!
Hey Jeff! Would definitely be interested in a full JavaScript application inside Storyline Course!
Noted! Thank you!
Yep, interested in how and what we can do in Storyline 360 using javascript.
Thanks for letting me know!
I use Storyline all the time but I am no programmer, I'd love to have a video with explanation about JavScript and how it applies to Storyline!
I am working on a course that will cover this but Storyline essentially publishes websites because they are websites they are HTML, CSS and JavaScript. HTML is the structure of a website, CSS is the style and JavaScript is how the Website behaves. By added on our own JavaScript we are able to go beyond the functionality Storyline provides. Hopes that helps some.
hey thank you
No problem
Hey jeff, I would love to see a Java script course showing how to specifically use it in Storyline, any update on this?
This video was just posted a few weeks ago. Had some good response so I for sure see the need for the course. I am currently working on a Camtasia certification course for TechSmith, then plan to overhaul my basic Storyline course and then probably dive into the JavaScript and Storyline course after that so may be Q2 or Q3 of this year before it comes out.
Looking for info on using js to change player style. Need to show hide menu items. Is this possible? Havent found a tut yet.
Oh like hide/remove and chance color in the player settings? That is done within the player settings button when you are on the home tab.
Hey Jeff, please make the course on JavaScript basics that I can use in Storyline.
In the planning stages!
Great video Jeff, it was quite hard to follow though because of the constant fast transitions between the screen recording - might be better just to keep the screen recording up longer. Helpful video though thanks. :)
Yeah I sometimes get over ambitious and switch back every time I look at the camera but I’ll try to remember to do that less. Thanks for the good feedback.
Pause the video.
Jeff, I’m also interested in the course, too.
Thanks for letting me know!
Something that would be helpful is to get an idea of what can be done with JavaScript in Storyline. What sort of things can be done that are actually useful and then how do you do them. Thanks
I have a whole playlist with examples of what you can do th-cam.com/video/SD_rcpZOUiY/w-d-xo.html
Hey Jeff, please add me to the list for a JavaScript video! This tutorial was easy to follow but without a base of JavaScript knowledge it’s hard to picture a real life application. Thanks!
Great! I am starting to plan this already.
I'd be interested in a course on JS!
In the works!
Please make that course!
I am going into planning phase on this! Thanks for your feedback
I'm interested in that course.
In the works!
I would be interested in a Storyline and JavaScript course.
Thanks for letting me know!
Jeff let's have a whole course on this
Will do!
I am interested! I am working on a project to add speech to text in storyline. I would love to get your insights on how to make that happen.
I could look into this possibly for this course
@@LearningDojo That would be great!
The biggest issue I have is finding inspiring code from GITHUB but not knowing where to begin to put it into a storyline file. I'm wondering if you could show the different ways js and storyline can interact, and what code in the JS is needed and what variables, triggers, accessibility names are needed in SL.
I do have whole playlist that does share various examples th-cam.com/video/SD_rcpZOUiY/w-d-xo.html. Also plan on creating more so stay tuned.
Hi, that would be really nice if you could do a JS applications in storyline
In the works!
I am interested in you creating a JavaScript course for Storyline 360.
Just wrapping up a course now, then I am updating my basic storyline course which should not take long and then that one is right after!
I'm interestd in a JavaScript course
In the works!
@@LearningDojo noice!
How would you store a variable using SL and js in a user's browser using localStorage so that you can pass the same variable when starting a new course in a different SL build?
Hmm, great question. That may be a good future video topic. You have to trigger a JS trigger that gets the variable from SL and then saves it into LocalStorage before the course closes. Then once the new course loads you would have to check the local storage if if there is local storage then you set the variable within the new Storyline course. I added that in my backlog for a future video. Thanks for the idea!
@@LearningDojo I tried this and failed, my js knowledge isn't any good. This is the code I used:
// Ensure that Storyline Player is available
var player = GetPlayer();
// Retrieve the value of the variable CharacterSelection from Storyline
var characterSelection = player.GetVar("CharacterSelection");
// Store the value in localStorage
localStorage.setItem("CharacterSelection", characterSelection);
Retrieve the Variable from localStorage;
// Ensure that Storyline Player is available
var player = GetPlayer();
// Retrieve the value from localStorage
var savedSelection = localStorage.getItem("CharacterSelection");
// Check if there is a saved value and set it back to the Storyline variable
if (savedSelection !== null) {
player.SetVar("CharacterSelection", Number(savedSelection));
}
I am thinking It needs to be hosted on the same server in order for it to actually work.
Hey Jeff I'm interested in the JS course
Noted. Thanks!
Please let me know if you create a course to explain how to enhance Storyline with Java!
It is in the works but may take a bit.
Hey Jeff Im interested on Js course
Thanks for letting me know!
How would you use a "alert" to tell someone to do something before clicking the next button.
This might help. Mostly it is through layers that you can do it th-cam.com/video/wrkh2IVasUk/w-d-xo.html
@@LearningDojo yea i know how to use the layers I was just interested in making pop up box look smaller and more slick. also ppl are more used to those alert boxes then a layer popping up. and some of our materials are complex and a instruction pop up for each slide is annoying and time consuming. Thought i would give java a try
@@rebeccalawrence4381 Ah yes, yeah you could try a JavaScript alert. I have customized those though so not sure but may be something I can look into.
@@LearningDojo that would be cool I think it would be more intuitive to a learner since most alerts that you did something wrong in software and online are basically that.
@@rebeccalawrence4381 Yeah agreed. I added it to my backlog to explore more.
Hey! I am interested
Awesome! It is in the works
Hey Jeff, please make the course on JavaScript basics that I can use in Storyline.
Thanks!
