I love coneflowers too. Every time I see a new variety, I can’t resist and have to buy it. I have so many different ones now but recent purchases were green twister, sun seekers, sombrero series and double scoop series. I just found one that is a deep crimson with a purple almost backish stem.
Hi Marta, I garden in zone 5B Northern Illinois. Last summer I planted a few different varieties of coneflowers in a small bed at the edge of our driveway by the mailbox. I don't water them much since it's away from the house so it gets watered by rain mostly. I haven't noticed that any have self seeded. I surround the coneflowers with Nepeta Cat's Pyjamas, which I love. I notice that some unknown bugs are eating the petals. I've had an orange variety, a white variety and most recently Green Twister which also got bug damage. So the purple coneflower and the white coneflower seem to do best. I've also started the purple coneflower from seed and planted them in my backyard raised bed in June, the plants are pretty small still so will see if they flourish.
Totally agree that you can never have enough coneflowers in your garden, along with the pink coneflower I love white coneflower, but I find they are not as hardy as the pink variety, love your garden, so beautiful
I have grown the Magnus coneflowers for many years. They self-seed around my garden and I love them. I also grow the White Swan that is like a white Magnus. I've tried growing some of the more colourful coneflowers but many have disappeared. Bonny zone 5b Canada

Hi Marta, the border looks great! And yes, you can't beat the coneflowers punch of color they give any area. I always tell people they are a must in the garden. They are so easy and resilient. Just some of the varieties i have: Ruby Giant, white swan, rainbow which i love!, i also have delicious candy, dark shadows mystic, cara mia yellow and the newest one that is my favorite Glowing Dreams the color is so vivid! Im sure i missed some. Anyway, thanks for your video as always🌺
My favourite flower! Easy to grow in my Zone 5 area and such a pretty colour. I plan on eventually planting them everywhere. It's been hovering around 35 deg C here in Kamloops, Canada, for weeks. Sometimes hitting 40. Not spending a lot of time out in the garden right now, but I'll get back to planting once the temps cool off some. Happy gardening!
I am in zone 6 Toronto Canada. I have Pow Wow pink and Pow Wow white. They grow quite well, but the pink Magnus are definitely my favorite. They self-seed so easily and now I have dozens of them. I transplanted some last week in the summer heat. They drooped for a day then bounced back. I am keeping them watered. I find that the other varieties only last a year or two.
Hi Marta! Beautiful garden, just love all the colors. Especially loved the first variety Magnus. I have some in my garden but do not know their name. I especially love the purple verbena behind the Magnus. I'm in zone 6a, but not having the best luck with my coneflowers, which surprises me because my Rubecia is going like mad. They get morning/early afternoon sun. I did sprinkle the seeds from last year but have many bird nests with many scavengers! Love your videos- thank you for sharing!
While the butterflies and pollinators favorite is the native pink it's worth checking out all the new colors, shapes etc..as well. They have really come a long way so the new varieties are really worth looking into as additions.

I just moved to zone 5 from zone 8 and I now have a huge yard that I'm planning to make a beautiful garden my yard is southern facing. I haven't started planting yet just cleaning "weeding" I'm excited for spring. If you have and suggestion as to what I could be doing is appropriate. ❤

I have one kind of conrflower. It has grown 2 x bigger than was written on the package. I am wondering it is because i added a lot of compost or mix in packaging. Anyway they are great flowers!❤
I agree coenefliwers are such lovely great flower producer and seed producers. It makes me happy when they just pop up and create a space for themselves! I love innWeston West Virginia USA zone 6b we too are having extreme heat in the mid 90s or 32-35 C very similar temps this year every where. I have never succeeded to grow corn flowers. All the petals are eaten by insects because I do not give them any chemicals. This year, my corn flowers have already been affected by insects, and I don’t see any petals at all.😢
Japanese beetles eat the coneflower petals in my garden in Minnesota, USA so I am busy pushing the beetles into a soapy water container, but I still like having them in the garden and their seed heads.
I have really struggled with coneflower 😢. I bought 72 perennial plug plants earlier this year to grow on. I plan on planting them out in the autumn to grow healthy roots over winter for next year. Out of 72, 6 were coneflowers. A few days ago I noticed that the coneflower wasn’t looking very healthy. Now I have 1 left out of 6 😢 I don’t know why as everything else is doing great. I will buy bigger plants in spring but so disappointed as I’ve been caring for them since March. I am in Devon U.K.
@@julianamcnaught1852 I sow them when they set seeds themselves, which is here late summer, early atumn. Leave one of the coneflowers with a flower to fade and set seed, and at the same time sow the ones from seed.

Yes, rich soil and lack of sunlight can make to plants to grow taller that it said on the package or the description of the plant.

We have trouble with bunnies eating our Echinacea. It’s been a struggle to get it to spread because of them.
