    Another genius idea from Jakub. Amazing! I love the use of Conway's Life to control a VST that is usually the tool of deliberate and careful composition. Having done some of that myself I have a lot of sample libraries now, but I took a break for a few years and my collection is out of date. However, this inspires me. Maybe I'll try it with LASS, Cinematic Strings etc. :)

    Wow, what a great bit of patching. It must take a lot of computer to run 15 copies of Spitfire, but the results are amazing. So well balanced. So organized. So beautiful.

    Hello Jakub! This is great, I am really interested in achieving the "base" patch you did it, I don't know why but I can't install the GitHub folder, follow the instructions of the VCV website, etc...
    I do not see the plugin.dll file (just plugin.json) so, I think it could be an incompatible format (I have vcv rack 2 pro).
    I contacted to the author so I am waiting for his response...Besides this, is there any chance you share this patch, or at least the basic foundation? The up row and just one of the sections? It's complicated if we can't see the cables...
    Thank you,
    Xavier Duch

    Jakub, would you know if there is an equivalent to "Cells" in VCV 2? It does not appear that 2V has migrated their modules...thanks & fabulous work!!

    Very nice! How CPU intensive is this patch? I suppose since its samples it might not be too bad?

    • @Nevermind1345
      @Nevermind1345 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It uses vcv host to send midi signals to external DAW which runs kontakt with all that libraries. So if CPU is capable of running the DAW and BBC symphony, it should be fine. VCV load is very low there

  • @jasoncorder7110
    @jasoncorder7110 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    are you doing anything in vcv to humanize the notes, or velocity randomness? perhaps that's handled by those sequencers.. or inside the spitfire plugin itself. anyway lovely very reich/glass like. reminds me a bit also of john luther adams' work. im surprised how the lib's staccatos hold up (a bit noticeable in the strings section but then again, it's v hard to fake strings)

    • @PeppoMusic

      You mean what he's explaining here? 3:10 I think this is what's mainly contributing to that swelling and fading of the music, making it feel more organic.

    • @PeppoMusic
      @PeppoMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh and a lot of the legwork is actually being done by the high quality samples of Spitfire.

  • @STAR0SS

    One issue with these kind of patches is that even though they evolve in time they feel pretty stationary : it doesn't' really build up into a larger composition with distinct sections, like an intro, a low intensity part, a solo, a loud part, change in harmonies or instrumentations, etc. You can achieve this to some extent using presets and going through them but I don't think I've ever seen that done in a truly generative way.

    Jakub, did you work with Hans Zimmer? Some parts remind me of the Interstellar soundtrack. Your videos are really amazing. Such high quality content.

    omg fuck yeah, ohh gaud, fuck yes...this is the kinda shit i wanna make not fucking r2d2 android blabberings like most of the vcv examples i see on here loool, i think that raw fm computerish sound is what drives ppl away from this software, that shit can be jarring to isten to repeatedly loool. i can afford 30 but i cant afford to pay for chords too sadly.
