Did you even read the very Wikipedia articles, you posted links to . The Madsen was actually extremely successful, being used world wide. Used by all factions in the Mexican Revolution, and the one bright spot for the Russians during the Russo Japanese war. Imperial Germany used the Madsen with their Stosstruppen. Denmark, and Norway deployed them against the Germans successfully, before they fell to the Nazis. The English even ripped off the design for Export( only because their military went with the Bren instead.), selling the exact Madsen design, under another name. The Germans replaced it with the MG 34, because it was indeed a superior design, and was belt, and drum fed. Not because the Madsen was a bad, or "Unsuccessful" design. The Madsen actually saw use throughout the 1960s through to the mid 1970s, in South East Asian, and African Bush Wars. Inferior indeed to belt fed rivals, and limited in fire rate by a clip. but a good solid design. it was also the inspiration for the Japanese type 96 light MG. Us Marines and Army used captured Type 96s, at times although, Ignoring other Japanese MG when captured( except as trophies). While different designs, you can see it's inspiration in the Bren LMG as well.

Way to many moving parts, no wonder it never really caught on with other countries.
