Funny you should say that! There's an old Church tradition with this exact sentiment that the Church Fathers echoed and St Jerome mentioned the tradition in his letter:
'But Jesus, stooping down, began to write with his finger on the ground," the sins, to be sure, of those who were making the accusation, as well as the sins of all mortal beings, according to what is written in the prophet, "Those who depart from you shall be written in the earth" [Jeremiah 17:13]' (Against the Pelagians 2:17, St. Jerome)
I think there were other Church Fathers who said something similar but I can't remember

A lot of people I’ve talked to believe the phrase “sin no more” and the story to it just doesn’t work in reality. Some assume those words don’t work because no one believes a person stuck doing sinful things can’t change to good, and that people using these lines are arrogant and too nice. The thing is, what gives Jesus’s words power here is understanding, in particular between the feelings between one person to another. The woman committed adultery, which in case you don’t know is a form of cheating that involves the spouse falling in love with another person not of his/her legal partner (think of that porcupine girl from the Sing movie). Not proven in the actual text within the Bible, but I believe Jesus has some friendly connections with this woman before. Perhaps Jesus noticed from interactions the woman’s legally married partner was not nice to her, maybe hurting her, hence why she preferred to commit adultery, in order to find love not so abusive. And when Jesus says that someone without sin should cast the first stone, it’s to prove that the people who throw the stones are no higher from sin than the woman (the trap setters were in mob mentality to kill this woman, which would kinda break one of Moses commandment right?). And when the crowd disperses, and Jesus is left with the woman, the “sin no more” line is Jesus saying that she shouldn’t continue to do evil (sin) in order to flee from evil, all she would need to do is be honest and find peace by ending the abusive relationship.
