Man, I miss fishing that river. I went to high school in Moss Bluff, we always fished Calcasieu, English Bayou, Watermelon Bay, or West Fork when we didn’t have much time. Otherwise, for river action we went to Sabine. For marsh fishing, we ran to the Big Burns, Laccasine, or Hackberry. I live in Texas now and haven’t fished Louisiana sine the 1990s. I’m rehabbing a 1544 right now and plan on making some runs there, my oldest son lives down near Big Lake and he’s wanting to go wet some lines over that way. Good luck man! Maybe try those jugs deeper for bigger cats with perch or crawfish bait. We did good trotlining in the part of the river that you can get to on Old Town Rd
Thank you sir I appreciate it. Yeah, I made some deeper lines but I just need to start trying some live bait because it seems like my chicken that I make I catch a lot of fish. I just smaller fish but I have been fishing in like 12 to 13 foot of water and I usually catch about 10 a day or so but there’s no size to em . My biggest one was like 10 pounds better I am and I appreciate the comment. If you’re ever in town look me up we’ll go hit the river have a good one.

It’s so salty down south that may get away from the gafftop up north
I hear ya. I fish closer to the hwy 190 bridge. Kinda shallow and fast current. Haven’t had much luck this year
