- After weeks of unrest in Thailand between groups supporting and opposing the democratically-elected Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, the country's military forces made their move.
Early in the morning on May 20, 2014, the head of the Thai army, General Prayuth Chan-ocha declared martial law. Shortly thereafter, he took over as prime minister and promised to bring the country to a better place.
He promised a new constitution and said he would bring "happiness" and reconciliation to the people.
But his critics have issued fierce denunciations of his leadership.
Opposition groups complain they have been banned from political work. They say drafts of the new constitution aims to give vast power to the military and is therefore a threat to democracy.
They also accuse the prime minister of increasingly undermining the media, even personally threatening journalists.
Prayuth Chan-ocha, the prime minister of Thailand, sat down with Talk to Al Jazeera to responds to his critics and discuss his military takeover, press freedoms in Thailand, migrants and human trafficking, poverty, the constitutional reforms he is working on, and what will happen when elections take place. - บันเทิง

Beside talking crap and propaganda everyday on TV at prime-time I don't see you do anything,you said you were going to bring peace to Thailand ok I admit you didn't bring temporary peace to Thailand but this will be only short time only way to bring last long peace you will have to bring justice too, and not just to force justice on Redshirt but every faction(yellow,etc) Yet I only witness injustice.

I will not consider this man as dictator. He seems to be frustrated by politicians and the biased media.
+mercytoday - he has incarcerated people for reading one the most widely read children's text books, people have been arested for eating sandwiches in publics, he has banned publication of calendars because they future the last two legal PMs. He has had school history text books having sections referring to his nemesis removed. Public political discussions are banned by some political groups but not by others. A politician arrives at a recently opened park and is arrested for nothing more than visiting the park. He is threatenign the media regularly and has banned several media outlets. Thailand now has more news and political websites banned than at any time in it's history. Several people have died in custody or in suspicious circumstances that would be considered his opponents.
He has appointed all the politicians, if they did not do as he wishes, they are gone. Very little of the media is critical of him. If anything they are supportive of the regime. He gets upset when he is questioned (often this materialises it self as threats of violence against any journalist that questions him in a critical manner) and many journalists have complained about being intimidated by the regime. He has closed down several media outlets already most for nothing more than uncovering corruption in the regime or highlighting problems being created by the regime or the lack of transparency/accountability of the regime.
He has taken power illegally at the end of a gun barrel, he has taken control of media outlets, he has banned public gatherings unless they are in support of his regime, he has imprisoned people for for what they read and think. He has introduced a law that gives him greater power than martial law, that was introduced without any process or debate. If this is not a dictator then then you clearly have no idea what a dictator is.

+Charin Yooyuen - I do not believe that the idea of the coup came from him, given what has been going on in Thaialnd for the last ten years I believe he was just following orders from some other people. You only have to watch his televised talks to the nation, he clearly is reading completely from a script with no emotion or feeling. When questioned about what he said in those speeches he rarely can answer any questions or even explain in depth on the meaning of what he talked. What I do remember is that just before the last election was that he warned the Thai public not to vote for Yinluck, because if they did they would have to face the consequences. We are now seeing the consequences.
