It would be lovely to show us how you styled these lamps around your house to give us some examples, I’m not so good in decorating myself 😅 Also I would be interested in how long you have the lamps on everyday for different plants and locations :)
18 hours for locations with no other light, less in areas where there is some supplemental light or the plants aren't full sun! I will definitely add styling grow lights to my video idea list 😁
A thousand THANK YOU for this video! You’re the only one I’ve found that actually shows the lamps, colours and intensity instead of just talking about them. You explain clearly and your reviews are very pertinent. Keep it up! 🙏❤️
Very informational video. I wish I had the budget to get some Soltech lights for my plants. For those looking for something less expensive, Sansi also has a full-spectrum bulb that's 3000 Kelvin. My bird of paradise survived the winter in a dark corner with it, and even pushed out a new leaf. I did have mirrors around the plant, though, to help amplify the light from the one bulb.
This is everything I needed!! I inherited many plants from.my sister due to her moving out of of the country. She also passed on these horrific blue and red lights. 😠 Makes my livingroom look like a chemistry lab. They'll be great for Halloween though. 😂
Miss your videos so much! Fell in love with your channel 🥰 So cool that your content is about what to do with my indoor jungle. Next level. Hope you're doing okay.
Yesssss! I FINALLY figured out my insane grow light setup to be more camouflaged! Never tried the vita bulbs though - I’ve been using the GE Balanced Spectrum bulbs and MiracleLED but they’re still sooooo bright - def going to check out the Vita because I’ll pay pretty much anything at this point for something softer 😂👏🏻
This was such a great video! I wish I had seen this before I bought my (too blue) lights. Oh well, better late than never. Now I know what to get next time.
Miss your videos! Curious to know how you and your plants are doing? Short videos would be fun to watch as well though I can imagine how time consuming and lots of work it can be to post on TH-cam.
I have 100+ plants in my office & I only use white daylight 5,000K bulbs in my ceiling fixtures, not "grow lights," and yeah the light is reduced some because of the height, but it's better than the other kind of light for me. I love it. I even have a 4 foot ceiling fixture with 4 tube daylight (not grow light) 5,000k in it from the hardware store, and wow, that is bright - sometimes too bright for working, but the plants love it!
Yessss 🙌🏻 you can make it work if you use super strong lights but most people are tossing in the 10$ bulbs 💡 hahaa sounds like you have a great setup for the plants!! 🌿😁
@@miche4975 No "grow" lights. I have daylight LED bulbs in my ceiling lights & my 4 foot (maybe 3 foot?) but is 4 bulb overhead fixture with exposed Daylight tube bulbs in it. They might be 100 watt I can't remember, but pretty sure they are.

Thanks for this video, I'm using grow bulbs in lamps as well. Do you have any recommendations for the 'non-discreet' kind? I currently have a GE Flowering & Fruits bulb in a lamp dedicated to my jasmine sambac and other plants in my bedroom but it's so bright it's annoying and I would love to replace with lighting that is that classic purple-y light and a little more relaxing, yet enough to keep the flowering and other plants happy. Any recommendations would be great! 😄
Thanks for the info on grow lights. Finally starting to make sense. Would love to see your lamp set ups. And plants growing under them. How much do they add to the power bill?
Hay, I have my plants on a fixed window shelf, that gets a lot of shade from the tree, and I would like to put up a grow light for my plants for the winter. My shelf is directly by the fixed house radiator, and also I have candles and other ornaments on that shelf. My question is, will be okay to add an uv ir led grow light facing this shelf with radiator right next to it, wiht candles and other things on it ? Thank you in advance
I have a GE in my living room & I like it. But I was looking at the Vita for my bedroom. What's your thoughts of the light points upwards towards the ceiling?
Hi! Love your channel. I've been trying to find a comment you made, which was that you could grow clarenervium in the home without super levels of humidity. Is this true/could you elaborate? I would love to do this.
I have been wanting more information on grow lights. I too want warm lighting so this has been very helpful! 🙏🏼 How many hours should a grow light be on? I would like to use them on darker areas of the house. Thanks for the awesome videos! 🥰
Thanks for this. I'm building a half wall of plants, 8' long. Not sure why manufacturers in general have a hard time with warm tones in their LED offerings.
@@soundmapper That makes sense though because they grow in the under layer of the rainforest, so they don't need high amounts of light. High light plants wouldn't thrive in the same conditions.
I'm totally new to the world of grow lights. I've read that full spectrum lights can have harmful UV radiation. Is that true? Also, can timers be purchased / attached separately to these lights?
Your videos are excellent, thank you. I am wondering what you think about the Vita lamps in a Detolf, at least maybe the top (wood mount) area. I scored two free Detolf via Trash Nothing here in New England, and am trying to plan ahead for 13% humidity season this winter. They'll need to be away from our sunniest room for aesthic reasons, so as a Detolf owner and warm grow light aficionado, can you advise? Thank you.
They aren't designed for 'wet' locations so it would depend how much humidity you planned to supplement! 😁 The colour tone would certainly be awesome If you were just supplementing humidity with water trays it would probably work fine, but I'd worry if you had a humidifier going in it
I got GE BR30 grow bulb and putting it a hanging lamp. Put some plastic bins to prop up propagation plastic box with sprogram in it with peperomia cuttings. The propagation box will be about 1’ below light. Will that be ok?
The fiet grow light bars in your Ikea greenhouse seems to be two different kinds? One seems to have a pink hue the other is more white. Are they different lights? I like more white.
Enough for what ? 1 plant two plants small area large area seedlings microgreens leafy greens fruiting plants house plants. What are you growing you have to be more specific different stages/ plant species require different levels of lighting
So I guess your comment about "you can't put a growbulb into a ceiling fixture, the rays won't reach the plants" kinda assuages my fear of my growbulbs giving me skin cancer or something just from being inside my house with the lamps on? That's the biggest concern stopping me from buying a ton of these.
These lights don't put out UV rays (or at least not much) i believe. There are lights that specifically put out UV rays... I think those are much more expensive too.
New subscriber here, love your channel. ❤️ Thank you for sharing about the Vita light! I’m going to try one. I also have the small ikea fabrikor full of African violets using full spectrum led light strips. I can’t seem to get them to rebloom even though they look healthy. After hearing you talk about needing a different grow light for flowering I’m thinking I need to add red or blue light on them too? Any suggestions on what I could get?
Great question!! While red light is necessary for AVs to bloom, blue light is necessary for photosynthesis so I'd think a full spectrum growlight would be sufficient as it has both... you could try a flowering spectrum bulb and see if it helps! I don't have any AVs so I'm definitely not a pro on their care 😬
I have 3 ikea greenhouses, a couple grow tents, and maybe 4 lamps with growlights going... honestly haven't noticed a huge dent because they're all LEDs 😬 the most expensive one I run is probably the 100W panel in the growtent and it's still not bad enough to be super noticeable. There is a way to calculate the costs to run per bulb based on wattage and local electricity costs I believe!
Also this information it’s so wrong, in the page of GE they give you the instructions, you shouldn’t put those lights that near. They are designed to be from 2 feet and up of distance, depending on how big it’s your plant.
I think you may have misread the instructions on GE. For low-light plants, GE recommends you place the PAR38 a maximum of 24 inches above the plant. For high-light plants they recommend 18 inches above the plant. It's even closer for the BR30 (6-9 inches). I find that playing around with placement for different plants can be helpful. Testing out closer vs. further depending on the plant and the light conditions of the room - for example you can probably get away with the supplementary light being further away if you already have some sunlight in your location. Hope that helps! 🌿💡
Prices fluctuate on Amazon and I unfortunately can't control that, however if you visit your local Home Depot or Lowes the prices are consistent! They may go up with inflation, but that was the in-store price at the time I made the video 💡🌿
If you're talking about the Soltech lights, I purchased the light myself and the code is only for a discount. I do not make commision from Soltech if someone uses the code. I do make commision if products are purchased through Amazon, but the discount code only works if you purchase straight from their website. Honestly, Soltech has a very warm tone and I just really like the way it looks in my home. I personally prefer 3000K or warmer whenever possible.
