Only John can come out of years of beer drinking and taking it easy having a good time with friends and then compete, already being very close to the top level competitors and all that within 6 months of training... Let's see him again in 6 more months to a year of table time and competition. I think history will have new stories to tell about John again.
If you can make Devon Larratt work that hard in 1st round, yes you are very close to top level. In supermatch format Devon would have done the same to many other top pullers in the following rounds
Father Time takes his toll on every athlete. In another 10-15 years Devon will be in the same boat. If staying in shape and training was enough, you'd see 50 year old men Olympic weight lifting...but that just doesn't happen.
Met John at the Yukon Jack Tournament in Minneapolis in the 90s. The guy was so freakin nice! Super friendly and toyed with me on the table. Could of broken my arm but was so professional. He was just the spokesman for the tournament. I took 3rd. Could not use my arm for weeks afterward.

Have you seen Devon pull before? That is his style. He outlasts his opponents. Draining them until they have nothing left. Honestly, if he can't stop Levan, he can't win. He has to somehow stop the match and then drain Levan because nobody has greater endurance or stamina in arm wrestling than Devon.
I liked watching Devon wave off John for bowing down and Devon did that back too John. Basically John dosen't have to bow to knowone for what he's accomplished and done for the sport. If John stays focused he'll get more endurance back. Proud of both those guys👏
@@kingcrimson234 possibly! I think Devon treated round one like he does in his backyard practice sessions where he let's people hit him in there best powerful position and I feel like Devon did that. The thing is I think since Devon did he got a little compromised and truly looked like he needed to kingsmove to stop John, just a little underestimation from Devon from the power John had early on is all. Devon is a Beast for sure, but he still has some leveling up to do for Levan. I'd bet every dollar I have on saying John could beat Devon out of the straps though. Id like to see a rematch with rules that don't go right to the strap, just to see the outcome.
@Jd Walker John already admitted Devon had stronger hands and John needed the straps to even compete. Thats why every round after the first John was the one asking for the straps right away. Devon is passed John in every way. He barely gave Devon a challenge with a 2 second head start in round one.... He's passed his prime man
I'd love to see the actual numbers in regards to how many pounds of pressure Devon is applying when he's LOCKED in the center of the table in his NOT GONNA BUDGE position🤯💪 INSANE There's so much damn power right there. Those two could flatten pennies lol
When John beat denis he was very young and green not close to his prime strength. Devon got denis at his best. Say they all could be in their prime. Devon was the strongest he’s ever been cs Levan. John is way too small for Levan it wouldn’t be close. Denis would have small chance but I can’t see him winning. But John vs Levan. I would bet everything I’ve ever owned on Levan.
These two...well that's the sport right there. BTW, it is fun to watch the little mind tricks, and the importance of the setup, the small details that will eventually lead to a defeat or victory. It's not just who's stronger. They can get in the heads of the competitors and adds to the sport IMO.
Devon is so crafty on the set up. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. It is the entire focal point of a match for him. He uses everything in his tool bag. I like and admire this.
Already watched it on a different channel. Just watching here to support the official release. 😉 lookin good Larry keep fighting. To be pulling the way you are with suck little training is amazing. I can only imagine what the future holds for you.
He’s strong. He just lacks table iq and General “athlete sense”. He doesn’t have any desperate drive you see from the best. The part im worried for him is that some of the drive im talking about can’t be taught. Like for instance devon just has it. But larry has just gotta enter a bunch of tournaments
Thanks for the show guys. Some inspirational dedicated dudes makes for great entertainment. Props to John for trying to climb the mountain, but there was no ascending Mount Larratt. Warm fuzzies to see two GOATS pulling but King Devon’s reign is far from over. Cheers to the other champs as well!

How can people not see that John was actually IN CONTROL of the grip set-up in that first round and was manipulating it perfectly. Even his face and body language show it, Devon was the one genuinely emotional amd not comfortable in that set-up. Like it or not, John is a MASTER manipulator, like Devon, just much more Subtle...and that is why he is Goat. Checkout the video Sabin Badulescu posted, from his angle you can see very well.
What do you mean? Look at the various times Devon moves his elbow to the very front of the pad, and simultaneously rises with his hand. John, with the shorter arm, can’t possibly get a fair grip like that. I have a teammate who I practice with who sets up like that occasionally, and know exactly what John was feeling like in that scenario. It’s physically IMPOSSIBLE to get a fair grip in that situation.
You can tell before the 4th round that Devon didn't want to injure John by going again. The massive change in his attitude. Dude is such a great person and awesome sportsmanship from both.

Larratt never begins in neutral position, only when he has advantage. His style of competition is to win, regardless. The primary reason they begin in strap now is because Larratt always releases grip. He has changed the sport to support his advantages. JB is a true sportsman. Always has been.
Good example of biased narratives. John "cheats" on the setups as much as anyone, the first pull here is a blatant example. Elbow up and had Devon's arm almost completely on his side, that clearly wasn't favorable to Devon. Did he complain and bitch about it though? No.
@@livingbeing1113 if you watch both competitors across multiple matches, you will see that John always favors a neutral starting position with competitors who will do the same. Devin, always seeks the advantaged start. He is more concerned with winning at any cost. Starting in a neutral position might result in him losing, which he isn't secure enough to do. Same reason you can see him letting go when in the losing position. If you aren't willing to compete from a neutral start, you didn't really win. Real competitors know that.

Good example of biased narratives. John "cheats" on the setups as much as anyone, the first pull here is a blatant example.
