Nothing compares to the excitement in the days of the Atomic Cup...the V-12 WWII Allison and Merlin surplus motors that powered the boats, at that time. They didn't call them the Thunder Boats for nothing. They literally shook the ground for a couple of miles.

I have to disagree about the commentating. The content was was fine, but the one commentator that was screaming every time they switched to him was real annoying. You can be excited and call the race without sounding over the top.
Do not forget the Allison's, Rolls Royce Griffin of Ms Budweiser, Atlas Van Lines,The Squire Shop, and Ms Madison.w/ her Turbo Charged Allison.just to name a few.Those were the Best of the Racing to hear those Piston Engines running.
Caroline 2017 same here, loved watching these races in Clear Lake Tx. from the boom line on the water. I recall also seeing oh! Boy Oberon and miss Madison. I live in Wisconsin now, no races here.

Loved the chance to do studies of the hull shapes. Biggest class we had locally was H class but interest died several decades ago. Miss them.

At 4:17 on this video the U-1 Team radio came on and they said something about "Someone needs to get on him about that"< I wonder what "THAT" is and who were they talking about, wondering if they were talking about something they think Andrew did or was it like at the end of the race they came back on and complained and said" Andrew was like under 80mph like 10 time or somthing.

Time to get rid once and for all with the Turbine engines!! They are remaking the V-12 again !!! I do not know of anyone that would not want these turbo V-12’s back in the hulls.
I watched Unlimiteds on Lake Eldorado Ks. and Lake of the Ozarks Mo. back in the 80's. The only turbines, to the best of my recollection , were Atlas Van lines, and Circus Circus. The latter broke a skid fin in a corner on Eldorado and was sliding across the lake sideways at close to hundred mph. Miss Budweiser would shake your bones as she roared by.
You cannot match the power to weight ratio, or the greater economy of the turbines compared to Recips at high power settings. I've built them both. And boats. The heavier engine needs heavier structure in the hull stringers. The hull needs an extra layer to support the added weight. Now you sit lower in the water, launch slower, and suffer significant vibrations from the engine, but the ride may be a bit smoother. And the Allisons were supercharged.
Homestreet was just cut off... that delay from Les Schwab was a bit of strategeree .... Nice job. & Oberto.... Time for ESPN or TH-cam to pick this up now with announcers like this.... Beats the month of May & June with ESPN & Cornhole, Spank ball and curling championship ...seriously fire those production teams. Hire these guys.
Ahhh you dorks. Couldn’t leave it rolling long enough to announce the penalty…..on Jimmy Shane for lane infringement and filling Tates motor full of water with his roost. At least that should have been the call.
I don't like Shane, Tater is a friend of mine, good guy. Shane got fined a couple of years ago for dumping more fuel then allowed through the engine. Tate said nothing, no whining

They do in the smaller GP and 5 Liter boats. One of these boats would be too big and too heavy, to be fast.
