    I think I now understand why skating with just two wheels through grass may be preferable to three. With three wheels you have three surface areas that the grass is pushing back against which I would think would add to the sluggishness. Dirt and rocky surfaces don't have this quality obviously.

      Yeah its actually on 3 wheels u have more friction points then 2 and if u have 3 the weight is shared with 3 put 2 is 2 points ow weight dristubiution i might be wrong

    • @prismglider5922
      @prismglider5922 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vahtrapuu that isn't how friction works at all, friction would be the same with two wheels or three

    • @whitecow13
      @whitecow13 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@prismglider5922 You are right, the amount of surface is indeed not a factor in friction. So the friction amount caused by the ground on 2 and 3 wheels should be the same. However, skating in long grass also give friction at the side of the wheels caused by the grass. If there is an extra wheel to make contact with the grass, the friction will be higher. The question is, how big is the friction caused by grass from the side? I have no clue, so this might be negligible.

    I have those exact same skates, same color! I completely agree, two wheels works when you are doing long and straight routes.
    I am looking to buy the Renegade 125 frame and try it on my boots :)

    I really love your videos! It’s nice to see other men skating, and you have quite a diverse collection of what wheels you use. I would LOVE to see you revisit quad skates (with a good pair of outdoor wheels)

    I'm beginning to really like the skate collection you have 😁. As for these skates, I can clearly see how you're quite quickly losing the momentum of your strides with 2 wheels. My bet is on a 3 wheel setup. Also, I'm thinking if there could be a urethane 125/150 mm wheel with a rubber outer layer. The idea I have is that maybe this way you'll have a harder wheel that will keep your momentum much better than the tyres. Also, the inner urethane could be very hard, like 90A and the outer urethane maybe softer around 80 to 82 A. Anywho, just an idea. Loved your clip!

      I believe Powerslide make a 125 & 150 polyurethane wheel for the SUV frames. I've always wondered how they would ride with 2 rubber tires and a polyurethane wheel in the middle

    Nice honest review thank you 🙏. Just looking at the way you were skating it shows your confidence with the skates and how easy it is to use. I think more development maybe needed for off road skates. Really looks fun and going out with a friend on the trail would be hilarious..

    Thanks for the interesting insights. I've always wondered what 2x150mm might feel like. It seems hard to find a versatile setup for all offroad terrains, but your idea with the small middle wheel sounds promising.

    Regarding having a smaller wheel in the middle: Since you mention having both the Imperial SUV 3x125mm and the Kaze SUV 3x150mm, substituting the middle wheels on the Kaze SUVs with 125mm wheels from the Imperial SUVs would provide a means of testing the configuration you're describing at 6:51 (150/125/150), yes?
    Though, such a configuration on the existing 3x150mm SUV frame would be anti-rockered by 12.5mm, which seems like it would be a bit much.

  • @jcardin2
    @jcardin2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree that having the option of using a smaller middle tire/wheel in the frame would be welcome. Powerslide could even make it have adjustable rockering or height position like with their Nexus/Katana? Frames. You just flip the axle orientation to keep the wheel either the same or lower height. Otherwise, you need to lift your front wheels slightly in order to turn quickly on the back wheels. It is easier to do this on my custom pair as I have already elevated the "toes" of my boots with risers. This also allowed me to keep an oversized front wheel as close to my foot as possible.

    Hey James, just found these skates and shortly after- your videos. Love the in depth reviews, you skating on the trials showed me exactly what I had a lot of questions about. My big question to you now is, I live up in Alaska with tons of trails of the same make up in terrain. That being packed rocks and dirt, grass, etc. My question is, how do you think these would do with short bits of up hill hiking? I have confidence they'll do amazing downhill, but how would you rate them in a zig-zag skating motion going up? Or even just to slowly climb or walk up? I grew up on roller blades and want to get back into it in general, but we gravel our roads, so sidewalks end up with quite a few pebbles around even after they run the street sweepers. Hope you see this, thanks again for your vids!

    Thank you for posting this! This skate looks clumsy, and it's not you. When you tip a skate on edge it creates sidecut that allows for easier arcing. With only two wheels there isn't much of a profile... Will watch your other videos on the 3 tire skates. I'm looking for an off-road skate since moving to a more rural area.

      @@iwillnevergetone5 alone in the forest ? a mask does not make him more or less safe. there is no sanitary risk related to SARS-CoV-2 when outside, in fresh and moving air, with sunlight and far away from anybody. There is also no risk of virus transmission when he passes by somebody. That is far too short closeness, and not close enough. I hear masks are political partisan thing in the usa, but I am not located there, I consider only the sanitary aspect. In such case it is useless.

      @@olivierpercebois-garve5506 well look, all of us would love not even have to worry about the decision to wear or not wear, but the fact is- people are still sick, and dying. So the very least we can do is be considerate and try our best to not transmit even as asymptomatic carriers. it's a simple task to wear a mask. he's wearing one because he chooses to wear one, and that's good enough for me

    Don’t need a mask outdoors 😷 I would think you need that pivot wheel in the middle. PS should make a stiffer frame & a lower, smaller middle tire. Why you wearing a mask in a forest bro?!
