I've been after a Star Jasmine for ages but the garden centres were asking a fortune for them. I managed to find one last week in a local discount store and they were on offer so I grabbed one. Hope it does as well as yours. I love your garden and don't think it's chaotic. I like to call it natural and the plants will keep down the weeds. Desdemona is a beautiful rose. I must get one!
@@kenvoong5977 Ha ha. I keep changing my mind about my own garden as I'll see someone's with all white flowers and think I'll want that then the next I want all roses. My garden is a mish mash of everything!
Lovely. My star jasmine I dug up this year. It just didn’t do much for me. Flowered for one week and that was it. How long does yours flower for? I waited for it’s 3rd summer but I got rid. That geranium we have also and that daisy fleabane, Donna LOVES it. Spreads like wildfire though :) the war of the roses, I’ve said many times my fragrance ability is a freak show I think. Desdemona fragrance milder than Olivia wow. Your olivia looks different to mine I think. Are they yellow stamens in the middle? I can’t recall seeing that on mine from the top of my head. But I’m probably wrong. Anyway lovely video. ;)
guys, mine is in full sun (i've got 4 of them in different colors) - it blooms for over a month and it's still in bloom for me now and has been in bloom since the beginning of June. It also turns its leaves bright red in Winter if it's in a sunny spotn where the direct sun hits it. I'd really recommend trying to grow it in a different spot where it can get a warm wall and full sun even in winter. The white variety has the strongest scent, but yellow and pink smell of green tea instead of jasmine which is a much more delicious and unusual scent to my taste but it's not as powerful. So if you plant it - make sure you plant white along with other colors as yellow and pink are not fragrant enough to give you that fragrance cloud. I also have Jasmine officinale but it grows way too big before it produces enough flowers to be fragrant and you can only smell it in the evening/night, however, officinale gives you random flowers here and there over the whole summer. Star jasmine is a better option for my taste.
@@vorong2ru thanks verong, but mine is gone now. It was on a west facing wall so got afternoon/evening sun only. I was told they do take the part shade positions but mine just didn’t perform. I saw recently a row of mature star jasmine planted against a fence with a row of lady Emma Hamilton planted only 6 inches or so from the star jasmine, and all were doing fantastic. I do like it but mine I think needed more sun. 1 week of flowers per year wasn’t enough for me.
The blooms are 4 days old and still going strong but not looking it’s best . It’s healthy and tall with strong Myrrh fragrance ( if that’s your thing ) . I recommend it!
Scepter's Isle is easily recognizable by the yellow bulb in the middle, but the murrh scent drives me mad of course. Desdemona smells way better to my taste even if it's not as a powerful fragrance.
Beautiful vedio, but I think Olivia austin rose is actually scepted isle rose not Olivia. The shape the color and the scent of myrth fragrance and the cluster arrangement of this rose is all in scepted Isle rose not olivia
Oh … I thought I had Olivia all along . I don’t have Sceptre D’isle . I can’t compare . But following comments of some rose experts and looking at the website , it does indeed look like Sceptre. That explains the myrrh fragrance 😂. I should get Olivia and pitch them against each other in my next “ war of the roses “ video.

they are literally £5 from Jparkers, they are tiny tho.

Hi JJ. I got mixed up . A few people says it’s not Olivia , it Sceptre. I’ll do a video one day comparing the two roses.
My Jasmine flowers for two weeks then it’s green all year . It grows in shade and super fragrant. Has its perks.

How many days before Scepterd Isle shatter? I have it in my cart but I’m still on the fence if I should buy it
