    The scooter with the mechanical issue had no problem staying upright.

      That patience only comes from years of previous trials and tribulations. There used to be lots of cursing, hair pulling, and second-guessing my life's choices that brought me to those crossroads! Now, I'm more relaxed... it's just another adventure for the memory banks.
      Bucket list item: "Ride a scooter into the Mojave Desert in 115°F+ summer heat and get stranded with a blown CVT belt"... ✅️ CHECK! 🤣👍 --QM

    Quasi - you have inspired me to pick up my first scoot, a Honda Metropolitan. Once I get my motorcycle endorsement I'd like to upgrade to something in the 150cc range. Thanks for sharing these blogs! Just wanted to share something positive after watching!

      👏 Congrats on getting into riding, and thanks for the feedback! Scooters are a fantastic "gateway drug" to begin your two-wheeled addiction! 🤣👍 --QM

      Congrats! Those are great machines. I know someone who went across a few states on a Metropolitan on a small highway with almost no traffic, so no issues with speed limits.

      🤣 His boots got trapped by the scoot, so he couldn't step backward. I LOL'd at it, too... it was priceless. I was glad that he wasn't injured or trapped under the bike. 😉👍 --QM

      @@QuasiMotard ya he hit the ground pretty hard, a good reason to leave your helmets on if your messing with your bikes along the road like that.

    Im guessing a bit of heat fatigue and tiredness along with the wind helped those scooters on their horizontal journeys.....looking forward to the run videos...Harry

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, heat fatigue was the cause for most of the drama that day... CVT belts and riders!
      The wind in the Mojave Desert was brutal that day. My helmet microphone and editing software tamed most of the noise in this video. The full-length video (coming soon) will have more footage and alternate camera angles where you can really hear the wind whistling over everything. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    Rear wheel locks up. Comes to gentle controlled stop.
    On-looker can't handle this and decides to bin it.
    Second on-looker decides to join the party and take a nap as well.

    I just finished eating dinner and was thinking it's been a while since qm was on, loaded my page and new video popped up. The new 125 trail I see have a oil filter now, think it's a cartridge type. Should be nice to have it not just to check if it catches anything that may show the engine coming apart. Tho some will use it as a Excuse to get more miles out of there oil, I worry about there's now another place to leak oil.

    I watched this one 3 times. That was a good catch on the pending belt failure. That could have been much worse if the wheel locked at highway speeds. Did you record the belt replacement, and how long were you stranded in the heat?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I recorded the first part of the CVT teardown, but the GoPro camera locked up in the desert heat before we finished.
      The belt replacement only took about 15-20 minutes, but we sat there a while longer before we continued down the road... about an hour total. I'll be posting more short videos and the full episodes soon! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    Sorry for the unrelated comment, but does the Super Cub have a way to hold a helmet? I couldn't find anything from a quick glance online. Thanks for your mini moto reviews, Quasimoto!

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! Yes, the Super Cub has helmet hooks under the front edge of the seat. When you open the seat, look for two black metal "ears" sticking out just forward of the fuel cap. Those are D-ring hooks for holding helmets. I've never used them because my helmets have ratchet straps instead of normal D-rings. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    What's the datalogging overlay from, can it record acceleration comparison times?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The telemetry data for the HUD is recorded by my GoPro Hero11 camera and my Garmin Zumo GPS (when I'm riding with it). The gauge overlay is generated using a third-party program called Telemetry Overlay: goprotelemetryextractor.com/ . The gauges and dashboards are completely customizable for different applications, and it gives you a drag-and-drop canvas to build anything you need.
      It has predefined lap timers, accelerometer graphs, and lots of other custom gauges that can be configured to measure acceleration and distance-to-time. The only requirement is to have good telemetry data from a high-precision GPS or other data logger. Updates of 10 Hz or faster are preferred for most racing applications. Even software apps on Android or iPhone can provide decent data.
      Here is the software developer: App Prototyping Barcelona: www.youtube.com/@TelemetryOverlay
      This video gives information about using mobile apps for recording telemetry (details in the video description): th-cam.com/video/paQm2rJC_X4/w-d-xo.html

    Pcx too small for a ride like that need a silver wing or a burgman

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Honda SilverWing 600, but it doesn't qualify for this event. The Scooter Cannonball Run imposes a 279cc cutoff, so the 300-class scoots are the biggest that can compete.
      I'm hoping that they increase the limit to 292cc's so the Yamaha XMAX can participate. I've been holding out for Honda to release the ADV350 for the US market, but it still wouldn't qualify for the Cannonball. 😉👍 --QM

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You continue to leave negative comments, yet you keep watching! Why watch if you don't like the content or agree with our idea of fun? Do you enjoy spreading negativity and being wrong about the outcomes? 🤣👎
      The entire premise of the Scooter Cannonball is an exercise in the absurd just to see if we can complete it. The failures and adversity only add to the epic memories and sense of accomplishment when we reach the other end. If you don't understand the small-bore lifestyle, that's OK. You do you, and we'll do us! --QM

    I did a 1200km road trip on my 300cc Kymco into Nth West Queensland, Australia. It was pretty hot & dry, & I had her pinned on sections that climbed some of the small ranges. I experienced similar symptoms & thought it was bad fuel. Watching this I wonder if it was my belt slipping? Naively I had no idea that these sorts of conditions can lead to a belt failure & that this will lock up your rear wheel! 😮 😅
    Nice save btw!
