As a child growing up in GHANA 🇬🇭,we play it most of the time OWARE, We also play Dame “Draft”,Ludo “dice game on a board,at-te nuts spins on shiny smooth surface to knock down other nuts.The person whose nuts stays last on the shiny surface wins and many Great games.Who said we not Great 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿💪🏿💪🏿❤️❤️❤️🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭.The Black connection is alive.
Finally a good history of my African game from the islands thanks. My three year old and five year old relatives taught me. It's a Twi game that was for royalty. Thank you!!!
We called it mancala in North Carolina. But I think that's because it's the title of the packaging. It's fun, but after watching grandmasters play in Africa I am not too sure I could hang. Lol!!!
Lol, we ain't all meant to be grandmaster champs but this game connects us to the the African Diaspora. I love it! Older then chess and the concept is NOT meant to destroy your opponent, a true African concept.

@@ashleymiller4697 go on Etsy and look up Oware, you will find a lot of shops out of Africa that sell them on there. I recently have purchase 3 Oware boards and a custom Omweso from there. All of them come from Ghana. Excellent craftsmanship.

The game is also called mancala. I think that is the Middle Eastern or North African name. They sell it at Target.
It is African and the game is older then chess.
It’s over 7000 yrs old and it originated in Africa.
