Is taking the opponent's seeds optional? In the example game. On Player One's second turn, he takes 4 seeds from the far right well and sows them. (at 13:24 in video) After he drops his last seed, instead of taking his opponent's seeds, he sows the the seeds from his own well.
hi there I have a board from Mozambique ant its 4 x 7 and big pits on the ends (no squere pits) . I cant find this variant anywhere. Can I play omweso on my board? Or mabie it't another game you know
I understand every move in described in the video, however i can't give an answer because I've not understood your question well. if you can elaborate more what you didn't understand so i can answer you correctly that will be great.
Hi...at 13:28 (in the game) the player at the bottom of the screen seemed to be in a position to capture his opponents pieces, both pits had seeds in. Why didnt he do this, am I missing something? Thanks for posting this lesson, I've had a board for years after visiting East Africa for 6 weeks and learning to play....but then I forgot the rules! I'd like to teach my kids as it was a great game.

It’s a different game called mancala. Google the rules for that one.
Best game in my life
I cannot understand the move at 7:56. How does the pit adjacent to the one which initially has 2 seeds in it end up with 2 and not one seeds?

I have understood now. I was confused because I did not realise that the move continued from the pit adjacent to where the move initially started.
Thats good.

I saw that he didn't capture. He must just have forgotten since he was a single player. He should have captured it.
I was a star of this game until they stopped me and told me that Women are not supposed to play this game it's meant for men only.
