THE WORST PART OF ADOPTING A DOG

  • Adopting a dog is one of the best decisions I've ever made, but it's also one of the hardest. It breaks my heart and is difficult to handle, but the reward of helping an animal to have a full and happy life is worth every heartbreak.
Bringing Django home, getting him used to being in a home, and dealing with his behavior issues has been a whirlwind of emotions, but nothing is so bad as what I mention in this video.
I get pretty emotional in this video so please be kind when watching :)
    Thanks for watching!

I get a little emotional while talking about this, so please be kind :) If you're thinking of adopting a dog and want any advice then let me know! I went through the entire process and have coached others on how to do it too and am happy to give you all that I know

Just stumbled on this video, but have to say I appreciate the emotional energy you put into this video. You can tell you really love dogs. I'm currently in this same crazy, tumultuous, rewarding rollercoaster of feelings with my recent rescue : a Labrador x Catahoula puppy (1.5 years old) who was found running with cattle and horses. He is afraid of most everything, yet was found neutered, so someone loved him as a puppy and then turned him out into the world to fend for himself. Adopt don't shop

Thank you for spilling the truth! More people should pay attention to the problems with adopting a pet, to deal with it properly and lovingly ❤

I hope people understand and have the same energy for foster youth.

Some people just don't know or don't care if they're hurting dogs. They'll do crap like cram 50 dogs in a space for 250. Good luck trying to convince them it's not good. I used to catch myself wishing I could find the previous owners of my family's abused rescue, but then I realized it was best to just focus on giving him a good life from here on out.

That's a great way of thinking about it! It's definitely better for the dogs (and our sanity) to focus on moving forward

Hello. This video got me all misty eyed because I'm having to deal with possibly past bad treatment to my foster-to-adopt Great Dane. He definitely has a cloudy history because he barks and lunges at people, including me (on his first day in my home), randomly. After he and I got that outta the way we get along like peas & carrots. If you could offer some behavioral advice it would be much appreciated.
I also feel your pain of knowing that other countries have different laws against the unethical treatment of pets. It's just obscene the way the way that they're treated in some parts of the world.

I'd love to adopt a dog one day but have had only one rescue dog before when I was young and she turned aggressive/ possessive with the door. My parents rehomed her worried about her biting us but would love to adopt another dog in the future. She was a corgi X jack Russell terrier

Lucius Maximus it may have been the energy and aggression of the Jack Russel in her. I'm so so so sorry. she must have been an amazing dog . hope you get another rescue soon

If thats your attitude you shouldn't be adopting a dog.
